    Mine must be on a different flight because I am on West coast. So, it will probably arrive in SF or San Jose (closer to me and higher chance of delivery tomorrow).

    BTW, today was the second business day, so fedex is obligated to deliver by tomorrow... :D

    Whenever I have tried to use Macs in the past, I have been put off by restrictions and I kinda feel jailed. For me:

    Mac = Use somebody else's excellent choices and learn to live within them.
    Linux = Create your own choices and enjoy the variations by switching around. Never a dull day in Linux!... :D Its like control freaks' paradise!
    Windows = Somewhere in between.

    Just my 2 cents. I am not really black&white hate-em love-em kinda guy. I like all kinds of computers and operating systems (yeah, even the VMS).

    Apparently you don't even need to do that, it gets to the 7.5+ hour range easily, and I'm sure you could up that if you wanted to.

    If yours left Anchorage around 4PM Alaska time this afternoon, then it's on this flight. There was only one Fedex flight leaving Alaska then, and this is it. They'll fly it all the way from Indy to the west coast on another plane, quite possibly transiting thru Memphis, as they often do.

    Wow that is great. I know the MBPs have good battery life but only running OSX, 6+ hours on a Windows machine is superb.

    Undervolting will prolong whatever the run time is, also should help keep the fan noise down to a minimum.

    I'm in Cali, and I too, received the same timestamp/notification. As for tracking the plane, check a few pages back--someone had a link to tracking flights.

    Wow. It's been a long time since I heard someone utter anything Vaxen :D

    We got rid of our last Alphas running OpenVMS about 6 years ago. They were the epitome of stability, only beaten by the old IBM mainframe we got rid of back in 1999.

    BTW, you can get a Vax emulator (Charon) that'll run on one of these Envys under Windows 7 in case you want to run VMS on it :D

    Same flight. Your Fedex info just got updated on the website later than the flight actually left.

    I'm using FlightAware to track Fedex flights. The link is somewhere around page 250 of this thread.


    Searching FlightAware for all departures leaving Anchorage this afternoon/evening shows only two Fedex planes: this one going to Indianapolis, and one other going to Tokyo.

    Ok, tracked it down. Its reaching Oakland at 10pm tonight. I am very hopeful that I am going to get my laptop tomorrow... :D fingers crossed!

    :D I said I like it. I did not say I am crazy enough about it to resurrect it in an emulator.... :D May be it would be a good idea to resurrect some old memories. May be one of these days over the long holiday period.

    Definitely. Hopefully I'll get mine next week, it is still in production (order wasn't placed until 12/15/11, ship date 1/5/12 but hopefully it will be done well before that).

    Check out the demo video for Digsby, I was very impressed with it when I used it a few months ago. Been busy lately to use it though. Completely customizable and flexible.

    Very likely yours certainly could be on FDX86 instead of FDX14. That would surely increase the chances for an early delivery, but I've had Fedex sit on my package shipments in D/FW for an extra day in the past, to meet the exact scheduled day of delivery instead of getting it to me a day early, and I'm only a 2.5 hours drive from D/FW.

    I haven't been this excited since I "tracked santa" back in elementary school. I was always wondering when he'd get to my house - but I fell asleep before he did.. :mad:

    Back on topic, mine hasn't been scanned yet though, so hopefully it will be, and it was on that plane..

    Ha Wow I was literally going to post almost the exact same thing. Mine should be on the plane arriving in Indianapolis in about 5 minutes. I wonder how it will get to Columbus from there.

    I just looked at all the possible planes leaving Indy heading towards new york/new jersey. I'm guess my envy 15 will be on one of these,

    Hi,
    I am new at this site and I am not sure how this works, but here it goes. I have a Sager D9T that was given to me by a friend. Now it works perfectly, but it does not have a hard drive. I would like to purchase one for this notebook and I have no idea where to go. I also contacted the manufacturer to see if this notebook still has a guarantee. The person that gave it to me said he was not sure if it still under guarantee, and I have not heard from the manufacturers yet.
    I also would like to ask that once I get a hard drive would I be able to download the drivers needed to run this notebook. I tried looking for owner's manuals for this model, but could not find any. I would greatly appreciate any input. I would like to thank and apologize for any inconvenience created by my part.

    Looks like mine may get routed thru Memphis before coming to Texas. There's only one flight scheduled to leave Indy for DFW and it'll be pretty late... 4:17AM. Several flights going from Indy to Memphis before then. I've got a pilot buddy who flies for Fedex and mostly flies Memphis to Texas routes. It'd be pretty funny if he happens to be flying the particular plane that brings my laptops here. The flight crew has no clue what's loaded onboard, though. It's all just a bunch of cargo to them.

    Well, I never sent a mail back asking for clarity in the matter of the Envy 14. What he said was (quoted as is, in swedish):

    After that I got curious and had to make some searches for the Envy 14 and the only thing I found was the name 'Envy 14 Spectre' and that it was rumoured to be released with Ivy Bridge. Which isn't near january from what I know. But, as said, the quote above is from an HP employee here in Sweden.

    The whole sentence is a bit strange since obviously Envy 17 is already here, at least the basic model. For me the most important thing in his reply was that Envy 15 won't be released here in Sweden which sucks.

    Well, this is a pretty laptop. I just picked mine up. possibly the first canadian to post in here from their new envy 15.. although, this things fans are starting to drive me a little crazy already...

    For the Envy 17 owners I'd like to ask how the fans are? I think Stefan mentioned them but I wouldn't mind someone (or more) to elaborate on it.

    Like, how are they when the computer is idle? While playing a game? Do they cool the system fast so after having played a game, do they get quiet fast? etc, etc.

    My current Envy 15 (11** version) is noisy as hell right now and it is a bit annoying. Especially for the others in the room that is doing something else. After having quit a game it can continue to be loud for quite a while.

    haha i just noticed that notebook review edited out a vulgar word so my only descriptive word about this laptop was that it was pretty.. that's not what i was trying to say. hahah.

    but anyways. yeah, about the fan. it's always running, no matter what you're doing. same drone sound, i've tried setting the cooling policy to passive in the windows settings, and tried disabling this hp coolsense thing but it hasn't really made a difference. it's fairly annoying actually. i'm in another tab chatting with HP tech support, i'll let you know what they say

    It shouldn't be too horrible. I had a Malibal Lotus P151HM1, and that thing was always turning the fans on and off and going from high to low, so it got really annoying.
