Not to defend HP but they have always been notorious for not getting their on-line order pages up and running correctly for new products. That's why I always call a living human at HP and order through them and double-check what the on-line page says against what the living human tells me. I expect the 7690 might not even be offered on this version but is still showing on the order page, sort of like the "Windows" version mix-up. The missing "turbo" specs could be part of the same mix-up. When is someone going to order this so we can really see what they get and what it is like? Somebody has to bite the bullet!

Been stalking this page for awhile now, awaiting the refresh. Finally made an account now that it's out.

I think we should give it a few hours to sort things out. Everything seems so sketchy with the prices and labeling of the names..

Don't order yet unless you are willing to take the risk that they may ship you a 15t-3000 series. "Customize your ENVY 15t-3000 series"

It should say 15t-3200 series actually.
And the funny thing is the 7690M motherboard has Intel HM65 chipset, so Ivy processors? :D

Same issue with the Envy 17. It indicates you are customizing a Envy 17 3000

Just talked to Byron at HP. He is seeing the same screen we are. Says they have an IT memo out to get this thing up and running soon. Apparently the 7690/7750 are the same price, just different outputs (DP vs. VGA). The third gen processors are all Ivy Bridge and the Windows versions for Home Premium are the same, just mixed-up choices for now. They are hoping to have the webpage running properly within 24 hours. HP has released so much stuff lately that the IT department is working overtime to try and get it all sorted out.

Was wondering what I was going to do on my day off today--looks like I'll be stalking the HP pages with everyone else!

With the coupon my total was only

    $1,104.48

That is even cheaper than the comparable 3000 Envy I customized earlier this year.

    Specs:

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
3rd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3210M Processor (2.5 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.1 GHz)
    8GB 1600DDR3MHz System Memory (2 Dimm)
    750GB 7200 rpm Hard Drive
SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
720p HD video streaming webcam supports Skype
Intel 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R) with Wireless Display Support
    15.6-inch diagonal Radiance Full HD Infinity LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080)
    1GB AMD Radeon(TM) HD 7690M GDDR5 Discrete Graphics(TM) [HDMI, DP]
    Microsoft(R) Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word/Excel(R) only, No PowerPoint(R)/Outlook(R)
8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery - Up to 10.25 hours of battery life +++
FREE 2-year Norton Internet Security subscription (a $99 value). Pre-installed.
    Full-size Radiance backlit keyboard
    Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 10 & Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 10
    2 year limited warranty included
HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I want to pull the trigger right now at this price! However, if you guys are holding off I may do the same. I want to make sure I get the Ivy Bridge CPU, etc.

In addition does anyone know if the screen problems are fixed? (Orange/Red issue)

Yeah with the coupon this is seriously a good deal. I need to replace my cruddy Pavilion dv6 because the fan is dying, so I can't wait to make the purchase.

Dunno if the screen problems are fixed. I guess if we buy it today we'll be the first ones to find out haha.

I'm worried about the coupon thing though, hopefully it lasts until they fix these page issues.

Battery life should be marginally better than the Sandy Bridge Envy right? I'm assuming the Ivy Bridge Envy will get around 4.5 hours to 5 hours?

The sandy bridge got around 4 hours, right? Do we know what HP claimed it's battery life was? If we do, we could probably make a pretty reasonable estimate of the actual ivy bridge battery life based on their predicted life of 10.25 hours.

Assuming battery capacity constant and all other components the same, with the 7750M, the idle battery life would remain similar. Only under normal usage will the battery life be better by at the most... 20min. Ivy Bridge doesn't help battery life a lot.

The Sandy Bridge 3000 series when I had it clocked 4 hours and 15 min on web surfing.

I can live with a little over 4 hours with general use. Hopefully it doesn't decrease too much from there.

Haha, I'm excited as well. I really want them to fix the page though so I know what I'm getting what I want.

Here is my configuration for the envy 15:

    Price: $1,819.99
    Coupon: –$600.60
    Price after savings: $1,219.39

and then I got the 3 year total care +accidental

    Price: $209.99

so total comoes out to be after tax: $1,505.59

such a good deal! anything i should change? its right above the $1,500 given to me by my university but i can chip in that much

    -----------------------------------------------------

Btw i'm chatting with a rep and she assured me that the new one will be shipped out, they are just having difficulties with fixiing it up. Ima wait like 4 more hours but i am forsure ordering today :D

Is there that much of a difference between the 3720 and the 3610? I'm pretty much thinking I'll get the same as you, but with the 3610 and 16GB of RAM instead of 8.

Speaking of RAM, any idea why the 1600MHz is cheaper than the 1333MHz (don't know that much about RAM)?

Wow that is weird. It's only for 16gb though, for all the others 1600MHz costs more. I'm almost positive that 1600 MHz is faster, so I don't really get that at all...

i think its a $150 difference between the two. i just have a budget that i want to take full advantage of otherwise I would also be going 3610.

yeah the 1600mhz is definately faster but not enough to justify a big premium (1-3%) its not noticable in real life applications just benchmarks. I would not reccommend upgrading the ram or the hdd (unless ur under a budget like me :p) cause those are cheap aftermarket upgrades that hp is charging a premium for (they arent hard to change either)

btw thanks for reminding me i went down from 1600 to 1333 so that i only have to pay 5 over vs 75

hp is charging too much of a premium. even if it was around $1/gb i would go for it but right now aftermarket ssds are less than 1$/gb

http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/75034/buy.com-512gb-crucial-m4-2.5-sata-iii-mlc-solid-state-drive-ssd-ct512m4ssd2 I would buy this if i had the money :p vs the +$500 for a 300 gb ssd

then i had the question about the total care and i asked again and she said dont worry blah blah they should have it fixed shortly

I would take this with a grain of salt cause hp reps are known to be ...well lets say stupid but the thing is, even if we do end up getting the old model, I bet hp would give even more discounts for the messup :D :D

there isn't any that I know of that have the wireless built in but u can get adapters that u can plug hdmi, audio etc cords into so then u can transmit "wirelessly" here is the intel link: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/intel-wireless-display.html

so technically ur still plugging in wires, but its to a transponder thing next to the tv vs the laptop. It just clears the limited length of wires for connecting tv and laptop. more of a novelty thing but it could be useful if ur constantly connecting.

yeah like most reps lol... but i have waited long enough im ordering :D

Yup. Kinda interesting how the new Envy 15's come out pretty much a day after my dv6 comes in at around the same price with 33% coupons =/ but I have no regrets as the dv6 does have blu-ray, a numpad, much better battery life with the 9-cell, and I would have had to wait at least another 3-4 weeks to get this and I haven't had anything to game with for about 2 years! Still, it's a great buy right now!

Blu-ray should really come standard with the Envy. Although I can see that a slot-loading Blu-ray drive in a laptop would be hard to come by.

I'd actually much rather they get rid of the ODD, add a better battery and make the laptop slimmer and lighter. This will probably happen for the Envy 4XXX.

Eh, I don't feel like going through the hassle with my dad (I had already annoyed him to return a dv6z earlier to get this) and I'm really happy with my dv6 so far. Besides, I like the anti-Macbook look to it anyway haha.

I love how the website says the Envy 15 battery lasts up to 10.25 hours lmao. Yeah, maybe with the screen off and doing absolutely nothing!

I don't even know how HP gets away with marketing it like that...

I doubt the Envy can even get 10 hours with the brightness all the way down, using the integrated graphics card, no WIFI on, and not running any applications.

I'm expecting 4.5 hours with light internet browsing and a dimly lit screen.

haha my dad didnt want to go through the hassle so he didnt let me order a dv6 to return later for the new envy good thing too because it would have only shipped on friday :p . I do like the mbp look but I like its a windows laptop.

well in hp's defense alot of companies also say "up to blah.blah hours" who knows, maybe amds new enduro+zero core is so effective that we do get that much battery life :D what did hp say for the battery life for the 3xxx series? I think they said 8.5 (not sure) so if thats the case, thats should be atleast another 30-60 mins of useful time which isnt bad i guess for almost the same hardware

Ahh, this angers me. HP really needs to clean up their act. This is the Envy line, it is supposed to be a "PREMIUM" product. I want the display to be calibrated properly right out of the box.

I might just suck it up and end up waiting another month or so to see if they get the IPS panels fixed.

I'll call HP as well later today. Also, keep in mind that starting tomorrow (June 4th) if you buy a new Windows PC (like this HP Envy 3200), you are eligible for an upgrade to Windows 8 for $15. I don't know if that deal applies if you order today (since it is June 3rd). Does it just depend on when the laptop is shipped, or arrives at your house? I want the option on the table to get Windows 8 for only $15.

well thats a dissapointment. my guy also said its no change, same panel. that they did release some firmware updates to solve the color reporduction problems to "the best of thier abilities". He said the panel will most likely change in the 4xxx series when it goes a design refresh and when its a "windows 8" machine.

damn it. I'm still getting it... :)
