Thank you! They said they can't place the order yet though, they get an error message on their end cause the IT department is reworking the page right now.
The 7750 is the better GPU right?
Hmm now do I want to keep my Alienware m14x order or go for the Envy 15? What do you guys think?
-
-
ya lol......
-
nbg5247 coupon code is invalid.
-
The IPS panel won't change until there is another panel available besides the LG one. Right now, that's the only one available. The Envy, dv6, and Sony VAIO SE all use it and it has orange-red issues. Unfortunately HP and Sony don't have any other choice in 15-inch IPS panels.
-
its working for me what are u trying to apply it on and what price?
i thought dv6 just had a really good tft panel or w.e it is not ips -
No, it's definitely IPS. For some reason they're not advertising it, but it's IPS. Same orange-red issue too.
-
Damn it. Coupon is definitely invalid now.
-
are u guys going on the configure site? i got the page open but i reconfigured it and its still working??
-
After you log in and proceed with checkout, it goes away.
-
I was in my university store, that's why
-
Nope I'm wrong. I was on my student discount account so it didn't combine with the coupon but coupon is still valid.
-
yeah i like how the regular discounts (not the coupons but just the random instant discounts) are usually better than student discounts
-
Yup.
Sooo keep my Alienware m14x order or go for the new Envy 15? -
purchased, hopefully the new XPS and Vizio laptops are coming out soon. There's still time to cancel the order and return, but I saved over $750 with those two coupons!
-
What's the second coupon?
-
there is a 250 discount already applied, i factored that in
-
I want to use the coupon but at the same time I want the free 4GB Xbox 360 that is being offered with a qualifying Windows PC purchase of over $699. However, HP says you need to use Student ID checkout and then the coupon doesn't work.
Anyway to use both the coupon and use student ID to get the Xbox 360? I think there should be a way. Maybe a HP rep would have to authorize it. -
Excellent point. I would call to find out.
Well, I pulled the trigger. I'll call tomorrow and make sure they're sending me the right 3200 model and not the old one....but I mean they can't cram the Ivy Bridge processors and new GPU into the 3000 series anyway so I'm sure it's gonna be the 3200.
Guess I'll have to decide which order I want to keep - my m14x or the Envy 15. -
i think u would be better off using the 33% off coupon (im saving 600$) and use the money saved for an xbox and an ssd
-
whats ur m14x configed to? I still would think the envy has better screen and the m14x shouldnt be much lighter (if it isnt heavier/bulkier)
-
Is the 720p HD webcam better or the TrueVision one better?
-
the 250 is canceled when u put in the new coupon.... isnt it?
-
3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3610QM (6MB Cache, up to 3.3GHz w/ Turbo Boost 2.0)
6GB DDR3 at 1600MHz
14.0" High Def+ (900p/1600x900) with WLED backlight
2 GB DDR5 NVIDIA GeForceGT 650M using NVIDIA Optimus technology
Killer Wireless-N 1202 a/g/n 2x2 MIMO for Gaming and Video and Bluetooth 4.0
Those are the big ones -
oh, maybe, I just jumped on that order as fast as possible. Didn't want that coupon to disappear
-
Well I already have an Xbox.
I just think that you should be able to get
both the 33% off and the Xbox because the only rules state:
Laptop must be above $699 and you must have a University ID, both of which are applicable to the 33% off Envy 15-3200. -
haha same, im anxiously waiting for my dad to come home to fund the laptop
-
I guess in this case they have the 1600MHz for less, so it makes sense to go for it right?
-
yeah u can get the same thign in the envy but a better screen, thinnner and (my personal opinion) sexier but more professional looking
yeah i wish the same but i think its only if u buy from microsoft or through the dealer (who give coupon codes). maybe if we contacted microsoft after purchase?
i also got an xbox so it doesnt really matter to me but yeah i wouldnt mind another
-
I'm talking to a HP rep right now about the Xbox thing. Also, in regards to the color issue, this HP rep says:
However, HP is planning to offer an optional software utility for customers who would like to adjust their default color settings to better suit their individual needs. This software utility is scheduled to be available for download in the coming weeks.
1. Visit HP - United States | Laptop Computers, Desktops, Printers, Servers and more and select Support and Drivers.
2. Select Drivers & Software, then enter and select the product model (i.e. ENVY 15) and operating system information.
This is the same old "solution" that HP pitched earlier this year with the older Envy model. So it looks like the IPS panel is the same thing as before. -
alright let us know about the xbox
-
Definitely agree that Envy has better appearance and is more professional. The GPU in the Alienware is better though and it's 2 inches less in width. Guess I can live with that though.
What does everyone think the heat will be like in this new model? Sounds like it will be a hot notebook given how thin it is. What are the vents like and overall cooling system? -
Yep, hp definitely lost me, i'm jumping ship for the zenbook refresh with 620m in it. I wanted to do some casual gaming (d3 and torchlight 2) with a nice looking display panel, and asus has not pissed me off yet.
-
This is sort of how I feel as well. It seems like HP has not really listened to its customers. I am aware that LG makes the 15" 1080p screens and HP can't control that, but they could be more vocal about what is going on rather than saying "Oh, well colors are different but here is some software that you can use."
They aren't really admitting there is a problem, they are just side stepping around it. Very Apple-ish stance in my opinion. -
By the way, everyone feel free to order the new Envy 15 via HP's site regardless of whether it says 3000 series or not. The 3200 series is assigned a different model number than the 3000 series and I've confirmed that my order will be for the 3200.
And like I said earlier, you won't suddenly get a 3000 series if you've selected Ivy Bridge and new AMD components. -
the tdp shoould be similar to b4, the previous one apparently didnt have much heat issues so i highly doubt this one will have them. also i dont think u should count out the 7750m yet... no benchmarks yet and usually envy and dv6 tie with specs so 650m should be close to 7750m
-
same but i need the extra powers, and the display still isnt that bad haha compared to the laptop in my sic .i do like the zenbook display better tho but just not the specs to back it up for me
.

My 5-year old laptop has been limping for months! This should be a nice upgrade. -
i wouldnt pay the exorbant amount for the 16 gb memory upgrade and do it later urself -
I agree with the above.
-
I'm looking for the same, but with only 8 GB of RAM. The problem is, should I get this or for ~$50 more get the 17-3200 with bluray?
-
if u can and it doesnt hinder u (for like college purposes) then get the 17, the 15 fhd screen has color problems so u might not like that, the 17 fhd doesnt have it and its a good screen
-
Okay I got that webcam thing cleared up.

Awesome! When you ordered it how far out was the delivery date?
-
Pulled the trigger! Can't wait for it to arrive!
"Your customized HP ENVY 15 customizable Notebook PC will be built by June 12, 2012" for anyone still considering purchasing. -
The free Xbox 360 seems to be a no go. The HP Rep says you have to use the University (HPA) login and you have to use a specific Xbox 360 coupon which DOESN'T allow you to use the 33% off coupon.
So essentially you'd be paying $400 for the " free" Xbox. Very crappy and stupid "deal." -
