I know we're all super excited about getting our new envy's (hell I know I am!) and most of us floating around this board are waiting for some sort of benchmark or review....but at the end of the day half of us have already paid for it, and it shouldn't be too long until they're in our hands

So be patient everyone, and that way it wont spoil that first amazing moment when you boot it up and go "Wow it's so fast, and the screen looks amazing, and that back lit keyboard looks fantastic and wow the sound is great"*

*Hoping that's actually what I say

heck yeah i am especially since HP is with me right now

I dont care for the red problem eitehr but if its fixed/improved thats great! but for 3dmark11 its really easy, Download 3DMark 11 | 3DMark 11 – The Gamer's Benchmark for DirectX 11 download from there and run the performance presets. thanks alot!

    '

the 7750m should be good enough to max out both games. and battery life should ahve improved from the previous one... but I would like to know both also :p. if u have any games evilmonk mind telling us the fps/performance of each? thanks alot man

lol that depends on what ur coming from... as u can see in my sig, anything would be an improvement from what i have right now :p.

pakki : yea i'll run it tonight

david: only game i play now is D3 and i have everything maxed out and it runs smoothly even during intense fights...as for fps i don't know how to check exactly but i can check if you tell me how

as for heat it stays pretty cool after a bit of gaming and even though i have a cooling pad i don't see the need to use it anymore.

battery life i haven't tested cause it's been plugged in ever since i bought it :p

yea hopefully you guys get yours soon and enjoy it as much as i am :D

Evilmonk: did you notice your laptop getting too hot while playing? Could you use speedfan or hwimonitor to check your cpu and gpu temps when playing and also when just running idle? Sorry if i'm asking much, but my dv6-6xxx is rather hot w/ like 54 C at idle, so i'm hoping envy is better with the heat.

You can download a program called FRAPS to check the frame rates in games, to be honest I think that's what most people are going to care about on here.

Should just show some yellow numbers in the top corner of your screen, very happy to hear Diablo 3 is playing well

Ya evil i know you briefly mentioned this, but can u elaborate more on the heat when playing games? I just returned my dv6-7000 because it was hotter then i like and after one review of the y580 it seems like it also has one hot spot. (although its a little hard to believe because they reported 58C in the middle of the key board, that's crazy hot and a lot higher then any part of the dv6) Things like where is the hottest, is the palm-rest and key board pretty cool? and the internal temps, that would be great. And just checking you played d3 without a cooler right? Also your opinions of the fan noise are welcome. =)

icehawk & david: i can only say that after playing some intense D3 for 3 hrs or so the laptop is still relatively cool, even without the cooling pad. In comparison, my old laptop and my bro's old macbook pro gets pretty hot on the hands after the same period of time.

The fans are very quiet and i could barely hear it (as compared to my old dell inspiron which just literally roars outs)

pakki: better late then never right :) well haven't bought a laptop for a couple of years so been silently check out laptops until i got the envy. Since everybody seems to be waiting for theirs feel like i should share some love.

It's 12pm here and i gotta work, so it'll be a while till i get back. Get some sleep :)

the d3 thing is good to hear, there was some complaint b4 about the envy noise levels so that is prolly better now (even tho d3 isnt that demanding of a game :p) im sure noise level is going to be much better than this crappy toshiba which goes up to like 80-100% while playing hd netflix videos -_-

I do (as well as others im sure) thank you for taking ur time and sharing ur experience. as for sleep.. i usually sleep around 3 am anyway (so 4 pm ur time) and ill prolly wake up at like 8 am (so 9 pm ur time) so i shouldnt miss much :p. have fun at work as we anxiously wait :D

I've been following this thread before the ivy bridge refresh and I must say that even the sandy bridge one was amazing. I purchased the new Envy 15 3200 the day the page was messed up and returned my sandy bridge one today since it was still within the 21 day period. You guys won't be disappointed. The Envy sounds amazing, runs nicely and cool, and the 1080 display is crisp. The whole IPS panel color issue isn't a big deal. I was a little sad parting with my Envy today. My ivy bridge one was supposed to ship today, but it's still in production apparently. I got the same config as paki except 1600 MHz 8GB Ram. I also bought the two day shipping. HP is seriously slacking.

Yeah it sucks. I would've kept it of it weren't for this refresh. The performance boost is just too good to pass up. I think the only thing I disliked about the Envy was the touchpad. It doesn't really register the gestures too well. Other than that it's a beauty both inside and out. The titanium chassis is so sexy. :D

dude that is one minor thing i forgot...if there is anything to criticize about the new envy...it's the trackpad...i find it pretty hard to use and would probably be a nuisance if i was without a mouse.

What's that touchpad driver thing you're talking abt?

I have a question about the return policy. Will I have to pay a restocking fee if I return it within the 21 days? Do they expect it to be in mint condition? What if I put a scratch on it. Thanks!

I've read around with the driver fix, it doesn't help much... There's actually article about it, not sure from who... Engadget? The verge?

The red peanut bother me, the trackpad is the biggest reason why I really thought about the MBP, I feel like apple trackpad is unparalleled by anyone, wish HP would do a better job to at least mimick it though xD since the design itself seems quite mimicking xD

So I spoke to the online HP rep (but we all know how those conversations usually go...) and she said there was nothing wrong with my order and everything was on schedule, even when I insisted that people (such as those on this forum) who ordered after already had theirs shipped.

Well it's June 13th. Looks like our batch still hasn't shipped. And guess what? Order status still says: in production, estimated to ship June 12th. This is ridiculous. HP has already charged my credit card for the laptop, and it has not even arrived. They have taken money out of my pocket, so I'm damn bloody well justified in demanding that they keep me updated as to what the hell is going on with it. If the thing is delayed, tell me it's delayed and give me a new estimate with an explanation as to why you weren't able to build my laptop in the time frame you gave me.

Yeah exactly. Despite what everyone is saying, if HP had a sweatshop full of child laborers working night and day to satisfy America's worship of Mammon, the laptops would have already shipped days ago (Not to mention that such a system would be somewhat immoral, depending on local pay vs. what HP was offering). The guys over in China/Asia/Whatever are practically done for today-- our order status isn't going to magically change as the day goes on. Guess we'll just have to wait till tomorrow...

I understand mistakes can be made, but this is getting ridiculous. If I get the same response that I did yesterday from a customer service rep, I'll probably end up asking for a refund. I expect more from such a large company as HP. At least man up and say the order has been delayed instead of giving me this "wait 24 hours" *&^%. Their lack of communication from the assembly line in China is appalling.

Just got off the phone with customer service reagrding the order status. The guy actually managed to see that the machine was already built and packaged up and ready to ship. He says now its up to Fedex to pick it up and send me the tracking number.
This gives me at least some hope I guess.
Though I probably wont get it by this weekend, which was the only reason I got 2-day shipping...

Well, amazingly, mine just got here. So far, so nice.

Now before anybody even asks, I have the 1366x768 screen, not the IPS. I can't use DPI adjustments for various reasons and the work I do, and my eyes can't handle 1920x1080 as much as I stare at a screen. So no commenting necessary.

Having said all of that the 1366x768 is actually quite nice compared to the one my Dell XPS 14z, viewing angles are better and colors are very good.

My other specs are the 3610qm, 7750. I will be putting in a Crucial M4 512GB SSD and Corsair vengeance 16GB 1600 later on today.

    General observations, so far:
    - Keyboard definitely takes more effort to hit each key than my xps 14z. Not bad or good, just a difference.
    - Keyboard backlighting is fantastic compared to what I'm used to.
    - Touchpad is also fine, no issues so far

I'm going to install some 3dmarks and report back shortly.

    N

I doubt the delay is over the ram because I actually ordered the 1600 MHz 8GB one when the page was still messed up and it's June 13th with no update. Maybe it's because I got the i7 3720? I have no idea.

Mine was suppose to ship today, but still in production :( I'm not that mad about it because it is estimated date... I guess I cut them some slack. Grr it better ship tomorrow though,

to the people that may have already gotten theirs, what state do you live in and how long did it actually take from being "in production" to the beginning of shipment till you actually get it? And your type of shipment?

My 3dmark11, Performance score is 2030, GPU score is 1778. Not quite the 650M, but not horrible either.
    3dmark06 (at 1280x768) is 13,800 - 5267/5583/6127

sythetic benchmarks are an indicator but dont have to mean much for example, the 560m scores 18xx and the 650m around 21xx but they are both similar in performance... what I want to know is how hot did it get while running it? I wanna know how much I can OC this babe its only 100 mhz away from 7770m which should excede 650m in 3dmark11 (according to amd :p)

1366x768 panel is AUO46EC. Subjectively, it is much warmer colors than the dell xps 14z, which is also extremely cool - they almost seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum
