Also, how's the fan noise under stress? I've been lurking here for quite awhile, and hopefully should have mine by Friday. I'll definitely post my thoughts after playing with it for awhile.

I'm going to run benchmarks when I go home for lunch. Not sure how many I'll get done since these programs do take a bit of time to install and run, but I'll for sure have them up tonight.

I got an Envy 17, so I'll be posting the numbers on that thread so I don't confuse people here.

My GT 650M scores 13900 in 3Dmark06 at 1280x768 and P2300 in 3D11 knowing that my Clevo deactivates cpu turbo while using the 650M so my cpu score is only 4200 in 3dmark06. Compared to yours at 5267 pts. So the 7750M is just below the 650M GT.

That being said, the 7750M has a 36W tdp while the 650M has a 45W tdp. Not to mention that the 7750M has lower stock clocks. Only 575 mhz compared to the permanent 835mhz turbo on the 650M. So we may think that the 7750M should be a better overclocker. Plus drivers improvements.

It seems to be a very solid gpu.

So I talked to another rep online today, and this time, I was told that though the order status page shows that estimated ship date was yesterday, if I didn't receive a delay order notice, then the order might possibly have shipped already.

It's really interesting what they come up with each time...

Not having a whole lot of luck monitoring temps:

    GPU-Z hangs on startup
HwInfo says 224 degrees C for the GPU so thats clearly wrong.

    Any other ideas?

Furmark starts at 45 C - after 2 min, holding at 60C, with fan on a quiet hum, not bad at all. At 5 minutes, it is exactly the same - 61C and minor fan noise. Definitely seems like some room to OC here. Top of PC is completely cool, bottom is a tiny bit warm, but fine. This is on a flat surface.

those are glitching cause the card is prolly not supported yet... the furmark seems like great news we got about 20-25C worth of OC capabilities.
    ---

could u possibly try OCing it? :p or just gaming benchmarks (in 1080p if u got it)

    1. how is 1080p screen compare to dv6t 7xxx
    2. 7750 vs 650m (real games if possible)
    3. temp around WASD and both palm rests.

    1) the screen has better angles etc. cause its ips but the problem is the color production which has been lessened by the tweaks.
    2) the 650m is slightly faster at stock speeds due to greater tdp and turbo boosting abilities
    3) temp is going to be cooler than the dv6

it was just awkward with slience as she figured out she was wrong. but seriously, this is rediculous how hp has no update on production -_-

Lol someone returned the dv6 just like me =)

I would argue with you on this one, the dv6 screen was amazing, and i am still expecting it to be better then the envy 15. The viewing angles were really good, i couldn't believe it wasn't an ips. It did have a red seems slightly orange issue, but it was very minimal, much less then any of the pictures that show a comparison of envy screens. And the best part about it was the fact that it was matted, or anti glare technically. But it wasn't to matted so that colors looked dim and it didn't have a grainy feel, but still stopped reflections. The only way to stop you from seeing whats on that screen was if you shined a like right on it.

I've yet to even call for an explanation as to why my Envy hasn't shipped yet. Honestly, I don't even want to hear the bs they try to use to justify the whole situation. We just have to wait it out and see.

I just think it's kind of weird how ours haven't shipped yet and we ordered literally hours after the refresh was on the page. I'm sure they'll lose business if they don't prioritize customers in order.

    I posted this earlier today:

"Just got off the phone with customer service reagrding the order status. The guy actually managed to see that the machine was already built and packaged up and ready to ship. He says now its up to Fedex to pick it up and send me the tracking number.
This gives me at least some hope I guess.
Though I probably wont get it by this weekend, which was the only reason I got 2-day shipping..."

This guy actually said "I can see here that the machine has been built". Its wierd that the people you call can't even discern that much. Are you calling general tech support or who?

Ok so after evils review, i really think im gonna go for an envy, but my only problem is which on, 17 or 15. 17 has better specs, really not that big of a deal for me though, but also doesn't have the red orange issue, which i have mixed feelings about and better cooling.. Also a numberpad is nice. The problem is that is just really big i guess. Im going to college next year. Its not really the weight that's the issue but its just that its really big.

    What do you guys think?

i think u would be better off with the 15, yes the 17 has better specs but most ppl say 15 in laptops are too big :|. Personally the screen doesnt affect me as much, the cooling should be fine, and numberpad i would like but it isnt a deal breaker. u gotta ask urself what you value more. btw remember the tiny desks in the lecture halls :p

Order status still says in production. But he deintely said he can see its already built. he thinkds its just waiting for either FedEx to pick it up, or if it has been picked up, for them to login the tracking number into the system(granted, this is just what he thinks).

omg thats a god number haha. The guy actually knew what he was talking about (I think). He said my laptop was delayed cause they were out of stock on some parts (I forgot to ask what prolly the 1333mhz memory :p) but it should ship within the next 36 hrs... as compensation its going to be either next day delivery or 2-3 days whatever is applicable (prolly gonna be 2-3 days). Was that so hard hp? Just let me know the status of my laptop >.>

yeah other desks too, its going to be bulky bring it along haha. Like i said its ur preference, I got htis envy 15 for college too just sayin. I prolly would have gone with an envy 14 if it was still alvailable

bad news guys... Just got this in my email:

    Notification of Ship Delay

Thank you for choosing HP. We understand you are anticipating receipt of your new HP ENVY 17 3D edition customizable Notebook PC and therefore are contacting you with an update on the build of your customized PC. Due to an unplanned delay in the production process, we will be unable to ship your customized order as originally planned.

We now expect to complete your order on or before a revised ship date of 6/26/2012 . At shipment, we will email you a shipping notification with your carrier tracking number. You can then track your shipment online to obtain the estimated delivery date.

if u plan on buying an ssd to replace the hdd soon (as in within 6 months) then just go with the default hdd, otherwise itw ill be a performance boost a bit and its not gonna be cooler (by much) that u will notice a difference. its basically a 72000hhd with a small ssd attached to it

I'd be too. Just got off the phone with a customer service rep and he said that the laptop was ready to be shipped and would go to FedEX later today. Aparently it's supposed to get to me by Friday (how in the....?). That doesn't seem plausible, but what the hell, atleast the thing is built and ready to go (hopefully).

EDIT: GOD DAMMIT. Are you serious HP. Your Rep literally just flat out lied to me. My delay is for the 18th too Pakii. This is $@#@#@! $%##@!^%!

The delay emails look like an automated thing that they send out once we've passed the estimated ship date. Maybe the reps we talked to were right and our laptops are going to ship tonight. The delay emails do say by the 18th or sooner.

silly question, but you did edit MSIAfterburner.cfg:

UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
    UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1

    right???
