Just ship my damn envy![]()
-
I think I've decided to only do a minimum restore of Windows 7, as the backup partition is only about 20Gb. -
Hopefully I'll get some good news when the agent calls me back. Assuming he calls me back. I'm very agitated that many people who ordered days after me already have their laptops. I'm also very disappointed with HP production times. My friend ordered a customized MBP 13" three days ago and his laptop has already arrived. Meanwhile I'm waiting for weeks, and finding out that even though I was one of the first to order my laptop has been delayed. And HP has already charged me for the laptop, and I have nothing to show for it. If my laptop has not shipped by the end of the week I'm going to ask them to either issue me a $100 store credit or cancel my order. This is absolutely ridiculous CS on their "premium" line.
-
-
What if I told them that they've given others credit and I demand the same...
You guys think that's work? -
i ordered mine the day it posted, when the form was still messed up. it should be arriving today.

Does anybody know how to find the product keys for the copies of Photoshop and Premiere that come on the laptop? I'd like to keep them after reinstalling Win7 (or doing a minimal restore, I'm waffling back and forth between them right now... -_-)

Did anyone else get their envy without the radeon drivers installed??
I tried to install the radeon drivers myself from hp's website and the envy blue screened... -

My envy was supposed to ship by yesterday but didn't. Here is a transcript of the ridiculous chat I had with HP support:
-
^That actually made me laugh. ^_^
-
OMG, I see you have lot of patience (in case you did not break anything in your vicinity -
) Hilarious. These reps are trained like robots.
-
And I'll leave this here:
-

-
-
As if delaying your laptop wasn't enough now they are just wasting your time.
Hey they e-mail you when your laptop ships right? so there is no point in me checking my order status day after day? -
Haha lmao xD what happened afterwards?
-
-
im wondering wether i should call hp and try getting a discount i dont really know how to go about it tho
-
Scope, that was just pathetic that you had to have that chat. I had a similar one (though much shorter) where I was told it shipped and it was not even built yet. It is really sad that the people working hp support have to be robots that can't reason or think logically. My guess is they just say what the computer in front of them says they should say. Makes me want to cancel my delayed order and buy a mac but I can't yet justify double the cost and no bluray (not yet anyway).

No ssd yet and 6 gigs of ram, not sure if that'll affect anything. -
well my chat didnt turn out anybetter...
blanked out the info
-
Can that has gotten theirsverify this? If it is something that is barely starting to get implemented, I'll just cancel my order and wait it out for a month or 2 while it gets sorted out. (Hopefully by then, I'll get on time shipping too!!)
And I guess the one advantage about the delay is that they give us the option to cancel the order while it is still in production. I'll be watching that thread like a hawk now.
Here is the thread:

Okay. Well I just called up HP again. The earlier CS Agent flaked, so I talked to another. He told me that my laptop would definitely be shipped by the 18th, and that it would be put on HP's fastest shipping possible and whatnot. I didn't push for another $50 off. He told me the delay was because of lacking of components-- and I asked him about the 160gb SSD not being supported issue. He told me that if any components are not supported HP will send me an email by the 18th explaining the issue and give me a free upgrade to the next best supported component.

My order was supposed to be shipped yesterday, and it hasn't and I didn't even get a delay e-mail.

well im trying to get the rep to get me the beats solo headphones with the 15% off coupon but apparently cause its thirdparty i cant use it on tehre. she put me on hold to c "what she can do"
-
And on the front of Photoshop and Premier Elements serials, I found their location in the registry!
Just go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Adobe > photoshop elements > 10.0 > AMTSerial
I couldn't find one specifically for premier, so I assume the serial is tied to both. -
Pakii push for the 50$! Show them the frustration... I will be doing that pretty soon too, I'm quite ticked that mine hasn't ship either... Ugh...
What number did you use? -
so i got that 50$ back,
then I atempted to use the 15% off coupon on the sexy beats headphones. turns out u cant use it on third party. but i think she wanted to get rid of me so what she did was just give me that credit.
according to her, when my laptop ships I should get a 50$ credit for that order. and when my headphones ship i should get a 27$ credit on that.
in the end, i went from 1505 to 1455 (50$ off), then to 1646$ (191 for headphones) to 1619$ (27$ off). So techinically overall im paying 119 for a tricked out laptop + some sexy headphones since university covers 1.5k. gotta make sure rents pay for that extra 119 haha.
everyone else since ur actually paying with ur money I would recommend calling them up cause its easy to get that credit. the number is in that chat log above. Have fun!
P.S. bug them about shipping one of the reps told me that ur shipping gets upgraded to 2 day, next day etc. so make sure they agree to taht also but do that after the 50$ credit talk cause the rep wanted to back out of it when i asked for that
P.P.S. the number is 1-866-217-6014 -
Wait the 50$ thing is just to take off your bill for the laptop?
I thought it was like 50$ credit for you to make purchases in the future... okay I'll call them soon, thanks pakii and damn college pay for your computer? haven't heard that before... -
. I just didnt tell my parents I didnt have to spend that much otherwise they would buy me like a 700$ laptop and be like use the rest to pay for tuition and books.
I told them they gave me 1.5k and after buying it and providing proof of purchase , they will "reimburse me that amount on my student acc" techincally they do that but the 1.5k is automatically put in, it doesnt matter how expensive of a laptop u buy (shhh dont tell my parents)
-
but... sound is subjective, so if you like the beats solos then enjoy and don't let an audiophile tell you otherwise =). -
-
Ahh I see what you did there with the college budget thing, nice!
And yeah beats is not quite the best, you can get much better quality headphones for same price range... A lot of mainstream people don't know that and just think that beats is cool because of dr. Dre and all the commercial and assumed with the high price it must be good.
Even Bose have some models that go as low of price comparable to beats and they're much better qualities. -
Beyer DT-770 when they're on sale.
Audio Technia ATH-M50 (they're portable too!)
Audio Technia ATH-AD700 (open design)
Audio Technia ATH-A700 (closed design)
Just to name a few. -
-
one of the draws for me to the envy is the great headphone jack and speakers. i don't necessarily need a DAC/amp for my phones to sound nice. currently i'm rocking Ultrasone Pro 900s, V-moda m80s, and Denon D5000s.
looks like there are a few audio-heads on these forums. i'm not surprised. mild thread hijack? j/k. -
Depends on how you define ugly, Beats look is so mainstream, not to mention they seems to be designed for younger audiences... I personally prefer classy looks...
lol envy thread turns to beats thread! -
Got the laptop. One of the reasons I returned DV6T was the orange/red color issue. No matter how hard I tried (to ignore) it was apparent that I was focusing on it more. I did not like the design either.
The new Envy has definitely the looks (I don't care if it looks like MBP; I see nothing wrong, infact I love it).
Color: I am extremely happy to report that this screen has fixed the REDs... way better than the dv6t I returned. Cnn.com and netflix.com are RED. I compared this to the other 1080p laptop I have and it is near identical. I am not sure if they fixed the panel or if I got a good one. I did the similar comparison with dv6t and it was clearly Orange'ish. Envy probably has very light orange hue but then that is when you are trying to really DIGGINg and trying real hard to see if it is different.
Wireless is Intel Centrino Advanced N-6235.
First impressions very good. Premier feel: Absolutely. This is a keeper for now.

More as I explore... -
as for the beats discussion yeah yeah ik its more a hype thing blah blah i have looked up headphones but honestly I needed something off of HP's site. They do got studio but tahts another $100 thats kinda pushing it lol. then that wouldnt really be a discount I would be paying 200$ for something that is inferior to products with lower price points. right now the beats cost me like 100$ which i would think is a good deal
