One of the advantages of amd is that you can manualy increase the vcore by software once trixx support it, so there are little limits for what you can do.

Cant wait to someone break 900Mhz or more

 

i wanna be one of the frst! lol if we even get it to 800 mhz, thats 7750 desktop performance. which is better than 660m

 

After first being told it wasn't delayed by a rep over the phone, to then receiving a delayed statement email yesterday afternoon, to then receiving a shipment notification at 1:30am. At least it's on it way and supposed to be delivered by the 20th.

 

I had read a couple reviews (I forget which sites specifically) on the late 2011/early 2012 Envy 15 and the reviewers had mentioned that in the BIOS you could set the switchable graphics to manual. I'm not sure if this feature is now disabled with the Ivy-Bridge refresh. I would be very interested in this as well.

My current laptop is a Lenovo W500 with an ATI FireGL V5700 Video Card and integrated video and has the switchable graphics feature. This feature was always very buggy even after ATI and Lenovo issued fixes. I was however able to disable the feature in the BIOS and only run using the ATI card.

 

i haven't been able to find a manual switching option but the ati software has worked well so far. i notice when it switches the color cast of the screen changes and becomes "darker" and possibly more accurate.

i'm still interested into hearing peoples comments about the blue/green faded hue. please report!

also, i'm unhappy to report that the witcher 2 still runs poorly on this system.

 

Awwww. What settings/fps can you pull off? Maybe after OCing we can manage it alright?

Same as mine. The HP refs assured me it'll be out on Monday for sure. Then their word doesn't really hold much weight anymore now does it? *sigh*

 

100% sure. My tracking information is up and it says it was picked up and delivered to the FedEX location in Shanghai. My estimated delivery date is the 21st.

Ya I got my shipping information this morning as well, coming in the 21st. I ordered mine on the 10th if anybody wants to know...

 

I ordered 5-7 day shipping originally. When I was on the phone with the HP rep he told me they would ship it on whatever was the fastest method possible once they did ship it.

 

I am looking to swap the 750GB HDD with and SSD and move the HDD to where the optical drive is. Will something like this work?

yeah thats what the rep told me, but then another one said if u got the $50 off then u dont get shipping?? idk just keep us informed . i think it is cause the ram thing that its delayed longer

 

Either way it's BS. I hope they ship out your laptop on Monday, especially when people who ordered 7 days after you are already having theirs shipped out. I didn't go for the $50 off, so maybe they upgraded my shipping, but it doesn't look like it.

 

I have all the supported components so it can't be about the ram. I ordered on 6/3 as well and I've yet to get an update.

Why are people fretting out over the graphics. Go to the desktop, right click and one of the choices is "configure switchable graphics." Geeze.

 

auto switching often has trouble detecting programs. manual switching is more reliable. nothing wrong with expecting a feature that 30XX Envy owners have.

 

Indeed. Though the main reason I am is because one for my favorite games (Shogun 2 FoTS) has the unfortunate bug that causes it only to see the integrated graphics card, even though I have set the switchable graphics to use the discrete card for that.

With the previous Envy's the way to fix that was to sit graphics to fixed mode in the bios, so you could switch them manually.

Wait a minute, I just got an idea. Shogun 2 has an additional process that always runs in tandem with it, AwesomoniumProcess.exe...
Initially I thought it was only tied to the Encyclopedia in the game, but I wonder if it does more...

Of course, now I'm hearing about bugs with the latest AMD drivers for 7xxx cards and Shogun 2, so hopefully HP is far enough behind in drivers...

[EDIT] Nope. Didn't work. HP, hurry up on shipping those people's laptops and getting us a Bios with all the functionality of the previous Envy's Bios's!!

no u dont ask them right away. u just go in being "mad" and complain and say u needed the laptop soon and thats not gonna happen. ur tired of the hp bull if there is anything they can do otherwise im canceling. that usually works. if it doesnt just hang up and call again. usually they will give u the credit if u demand to talk to the manager. when i called i just straightaway asked for manager and she gave it to me within 4 mins

 

What? They said they'll mail me like 50$ rebate its not directly off the bill of the laptop... I thought thats what they said anywho...

 

oo idk man i think its just a credit they put on the bill when it ships, she did the same thign when a coupon wasnt working for my headphones... i got a 27$ credit on my bill for the headphones when they were shipped

 

Does the tracking thing say if the item is in transit? All mine says is that it has been picked up at the FedEX holding facility in Shanghai. That was yesterday. Do they not work on Sundays, or is it like in transit to America and they'll update when it arrives?

 

they update when it arrives and departs. and i think it takes a little while to get outta shanghai

I think that the reps have no idea what is going on with the rebate. The lady I talked to didnt even know about it until she went to talk to someone.

So I don't think the way that they described it to you is how it is actually going to work... lets hope it is just 50 back to the credit card we used.

What I don't get is that they told me the reason for my delay was due to a part not being available. The only thing I upgraded was the screen. Which doesn't make sense since others after me have already shipped. So obviously no one knows what is really going on over in China. I don't understand why they cannot just e-mail someone at the factory... All customer service ever does is just read what the computer tells them. Which is information we already know...

 

Well hopefully my cancel goes through I can configure a better comp for less than what I paid and!!!!!!! get it about a week faster!

Yeah when I got my spectre a few months ago it got delayed 3 times and I got 10% more off. Ended up returning it anyway lol

Hey is using the radeon GPU with a custom rez possible? When playing games, I'm not against using a 768p or 900p rez when playing games if i can get better frams.

Also have there been any more FPS updates on some games. I wasn't considering the envy 17, but after seeing how much of a difference the gpu's are, I'm reconsidering.

Damn that's the only thing you upgrade?...smh I'm guessing they didn't do first come first serve or maybe it's just one batch that's messed up and it's us first customers... I feel like the factory in china has a very bad communication with the orders itselfs... I can a cheap factory in mind where bunch of workers doesn't very know much and one of them only have one task in their job, like one of those real poor factory in the movies :/

 

Well after returning my first envy 15 back in January for quality issues...first one had dented USB ports, second one had a optical drive that wouldnt eject. I decided the 14 was the way to go so 4 weeks after my order date I finally got it but at that point Diablo 3 was on the horizon and I wanted to be able to game. I was gonna build a gaming desktop but I thought it would be cheaper to get a decent laptop for games. I had the Asus n56 for a week and while it had a nice screen there was so much wrong with it, the speakers popped and crackled and if you go over the that forum it looks like its having a lot of problems. So my new envy 15 was to be shipped on the 15th but I haven't gotten a shipp or delay notice yet
