    Hi everyone!

As (probably) most of you here, I've recently ordered my envy 15t-3200. No need to say, i am excited to get it in my hands. The main reasons I chose the laptop were an IPS screen, upgradable to 16gb ram and SSD. The last two are highly desirable as i do some scientific computing and photo processing.

To save some money I intend to upgrade aftermarket. I never did it beforehand, so i wanted to make sure i pick the right/best parts.
The choice of SSD is pretty limited and, therefore, easy: Crucial 512 GB m4 2.5-Inch for 400$ (samsung makes them too but they cost 700$).
A whole bunch of companies make 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 1600 laptop RAM kits: ADATA, G.SKILL, GeIL, CORSAIR, etc. All sold for about 120$. And I don't know these brands at all.

Am I making the right choices here? Can somebody recommend something better?

I was checking out some videos of the finger print scan, you can login facebook, gmail, and websites by just scanning your finger print  how convenient... thought it was just windows user login and security stuff >.<

Why doesn't the envy line have it while pavillion does? :O envy should be premuim right? >.<

saw this though... if it makes things more convenient i might get it... i hate having to type in username and passwords.. and doing it again everytime cookies get cleared

It means technically they got under the wire on the 16th (by 10 minutes), and they didn't work on Sunday... Exactly what part is confusing??

If that's the case why would they update my status at 10:00 PM today? Is that when their shift starts? Why didn't it ship out today if they've been working all day long today?

I'm seriously questioning what's going on. The delay is ridiculous. I don't want any of HP's pity coupons or money back.

I'm on vacation in a week for a month so it looks like I'll have to pick it up after I'm back.

And mine too... I suspect that we will get them on the 22nd, not the 21st (like mine still says), because there are other forum members saying they got shipping notice for today with delivery on the 22nd. I think they will all be on the same plane.

I got my shipping notification on a Saturday, and mine was delivered on Thursday, which was the estimated delivery date. If you want, I can post the logs of my shipping updates to give those of you with standard shipping a rough guideline of the updates you'll get. ;)

Awesome iposh23, Did you place your order with any coupons or was you order delayed. For anyone that doesn't know if you order your envy with a $450 off or smaller coupon. You can call if a better coupon comes out like 33%-35% within your 21 day return policy and have them apply that coupon to your order and they will refund you the difference. I have done this twice so it works...

I emailed them back.. "Can I get 2 day shipping?" two days ago. Then they called back today saying they can no longer do it because it just shipped and if you like I can issue a 15% refund.

Didn't complain or pretend like I am mad. That is the first thing they told me haha

Ask for the supervisor/manager. The little people don't know about or can't give the rebate. You need to talk to the higher ups. I called 3 times, the first two I acted irritated and asked what they could do for me. The third time I said I want my rebate. The rep said they couldn't but I asked to talk to her manager and then three minutes later I said, "thanks for the rebate" and my call was over.

    First off,

I want to thank all of you for being so active on this forum. I just made the decision to return the open box 15 3040nr (pre - refresh) to microcenter before my 14 day return policy was up. Unfortunately, I had already installed the m4 crucial 256gb ssd drive (which gave me a hefty 7.9 HDD rating btw), and had to do it all over.

I put my order in yesterday for the Envy 15 3200t: (estimated for 6/27 ship)
    2.3 i7 ivy
    7500m Radeon
1600 mhz @ 6gb(i'll put the rest in myself if I need to)
1080 IPS(which apparently makes the blues weird instead of the reds now)
    750 HDD (since I have my M4 :p)
    etc....

Instead of buying online I ran through the config first online, got a sales rep on the phone and asked if I could get the $50 credit before confirming my decision to purchase laptop. She had to charge me the 58 for 2 day first, but said the credit will come off after processing (which I will check).

BTW, you can't order the 1333 mhz ram anymore I dont think.

I used the 450 off coupon, and opted for the 159.00 HP 2 yr care since i'm clumsy. **thanks AdamDoom for mentioning the 21 day price match** I'll be looking for those 33% off coupons.

So far, my (2yr warranty) has shipped and is arriving tomorrow... I did not expect to get anything physically, but OK, I'll take some marketing material with a slip.

    Dan

I ordered on the night of 6/3 (technically 6/4) with an estimated ship date of 6/13 and I'm delayed until 6/27. Is anyone else who ordered the i7-3820 processor delayed?

I've been an ardent hater of everything Apple for most of my life, but now I'm seriously considering the new macbook pro retina. Wouldn't have even given it a thought if I had my Envy by now...

Even though these laptops are called CTO, it is NOT as if they build the units, one unit at a time. I would assume they accumulate enough identical orders, and build a run ... which may also be affected/prioritized by component supply. The more elements that differentiate your particular configuration from the norm, most likely increases the probability of shipping delays.

Apparently they update tracking when it leaves a location, so there's a good chance it's still sitting over there. I don't know how they intend to get my laptop to me by Thursday when they haven't even been able to get it out of Shanghai over the course of four days...

This may not help you, but I got the envy 17 with a 3820. I ordered the 6th and mine is sitting waiting to leave, so i don't think there is a shortage of 3820s.

Do you have any evidence of that? That sounds completely incorrect to me. Maybe I should ask some of the guys at the Foxconn factory down the street. They probably wouldn't know what I'm talking about, though, even if they do assemble HP laptops at the Wuhan campus. Still, I'm pretty sure that's not how it works - I don't think CTO volume is really big enough to justify that kind of production method considering how many different configurations you can dream up on the typical CTO laptop (even if you eliminate any non-hardware options).

blissful ignorance... The consumer CTO operation IS only a small part of the total production scheme. That is why it is only economical to address such a small segment by applying economy of scale. When they aren't building a run of some specific consumer CTO configuration, they are building 'stock' configurations for Costco, or whoever (which is just a large 'CTO' run for some distributor). You didn't actually think that YOUR order was handled with some personal attention did you??? This isn't some arts & craft outfit. Run a large scale business like that, and you will be out of business in no time flat... but lotso luck!

(I am NOT talking about software... I am sure that is all completely computerized)
