Ya it was, umm I think I'm going to give it a try because I don't want that super annoying slowness haha.
-
The hotfix does not work on our computer...
-
I found a video that show's exactly what's happening, so take a look at this video.
HP Envy 15t-3000 CPU 100% fault - YouTube -
How exactly did you narrow it down to that process? Was it on top of the processes list in task manager when the problem occurred? I'm trying to replicate the issue and I can't seem to get it to occur again-- perhaps because i keep exiting to the desktop every five minutes, and the audio is reset every time you pause the game?
EDIT: Yeah that is exactly what is happening, except his frames didn't drop (although he wasn't in a game). One of the commenting people said he disabled HP cool sense and everything worked fine afterwards... maybe we should try that? Also the video description is correct, when the problem occurs the CPU use goes up to 100%.
EDITEDIT: Upon further inspection HP coolsense appears to only want to be on if you are not in a stationary position. It is only used to adjust the fans when you are moving the laptop to your lap or whatever to keep comfortable. If the laptop is in a stationary position (when gaming, for instance), it does not (purportedly) need to be on. -
Umm ya the process was mostly at the top, but I tested it by ending the process (I did this twice, just an fyi) and the frames were back up, but no sound of course.
Ya the cool sense was exactly what I was reading here http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/633054-hp-envy-15-3xxx-series-owners-lounge-164.html
I really hope this works...
Edit: Actually his frames did drop, if you see the desktop it was running extremely slow, which happens when you alt tab out of the game. -
Alright then, I'm going to give it a shot.
-
So I've done minor testing cause I'm out of town but my computer had zero flaws! I did however notice that the bottom isn't flush with the front of the computer but like someone said before it is barely there. The screen looks amazing! My colors seem to be perfect! I only had my iPhone on me and the colors looked better some of times, which is pretty amazing! Speakers work perfect but haven't tried the headphones yet. That will be tonight. Im now curious about the optical drive so I will try that later as well, let's hope me is good. So far I'm super thrilled with it and can't wait to set it up.
-
The cool sense fix seems to have worked-- I've been playing for a good half hour with zero issues.

My envy 15 arrived a couple of days ago. I like everything about the laptop except for 1 thing. The O key on the key board is very inconsistent. It only works about 20-30% of the time without repeated presses. I really don't want to have to return the computer because of 1 key on the keyboard.
I updated the bios to the latest version hoping it would help, but the keyboard is obviusly defective. This would be the 2nd envy returned. The first one shipped (sandy bridge 15-30xx) a couple of days before the 15-32xx ivy bridge model became available and it definately suffered from the red/orange color shift.
After following this entire thread, HP obviously has QC issues on these laptops. I am inclined to return this one and look at something else.
Any suggestions on a good alternative with similar specs? -
-
what are u guys getting for battery life? I got it at like 97% and its saying 2.5 hrs with tf2 dling in the background.... is my dgpu on? anyway to check? -
Received my Envy today.
First observations: bottom battery cover is loose and annoyingly loud when you tap on it or if it hits the table. The screen was popping out of the bezel on the left side and I had to pop it back in.
Worst of all, the fans are annoyingly loud and this thing gets pretty hot just on BROWSING. I haven't done anything with this laptop yet and the fans are going nuts. CPU temps are normal (in their 30s) and GPU is in the 50s, which are decent temps so I don't know why the fans have to be that obnoxious. Screen is good, don't really notice the red crap people talk about, I would actually say that it's not as vivid as I'd like as the colors seem a little bland to me, but otherwise great screen.
I don't know what to do, I may send it back. -
-
Well I'm certainly exagerrating, it's not THAT bad. But in a completely silent room I do hear my fans on idle, and they do pick up just on browsing. Like they did just now. I'll check the ejecting disc issue in a minute.
-
Sorry for those who have all the little issues, they are probably annoying. -
for me its also quiet and it hasnt gotten warm. while that was happeening i got 3 tabs open in IE, facebook desktop messenger, spotify, and burning the recovery disk. EDIT: also have on utorrent (for legal stuff
) and steam (on the last one) and yeah the eject thing is annoying. it takes prodding and then it comes out
-
alright ima go eat dinner now and some netflix on new laptop
-
and omg dude yeah, ill be playing tf tons, its been years but i love that game so much xD doesn't get old i still have hilarious great time every time
I'm really loving my ENvy and don't wanna exchange itbut i have to
and then i'll have the long wait again :'(
-
-
Just tested my optical drive and mine also gets stuck...don't know if I want to return it and risk getting another computer with different problems. My solution is going to try and cut some of the felt down with an exacto knife. That should work if I have a sharp blade.
-
i forgot to ask, how do i check what ram i got? I ordered 8 gb of 1333 mhz I wanna c what they gave me
-
The heat sink is unbelievably hard to access. I just opened it up to take a look, to possibly repaste but I didn't wanna push my luck.
Also, the damn thing wouldn't turn back on cause I didn't flip the lock switch back to the closed position.
I'm facing a dilemma. Love the screen, keyboard's good, disc eject works fine. But the fans are annoying me. Don't want to exchange it just to get a horrible screen or something. Gonna have to though. -

-
-
Didnt get mine today, hopefully it'll arrive tommorow...
Oh well, I was wondering how many recovery discs did you guys use? Thinking of skipping doing it because last required several discs and took forever. Dont know if its worth it -
Dude it's ironic you said that because I was just using it to try to squish the bottom part of it down and top part to make hole bigger... Didn't seem to work so well though as they retract to its form. Idk about cutting it... Would make the laptop a little ugly...
Other people have machines with fine ejectiOn so I guess I'll return it for one of those?
It seems like a whole lot of people in our batch have the same problem... These optical drives comes from somewhere else not HP built... Maybe we got a bad batch of optical drives... Or perhaps hp Chinese workers just built it poorly :/ -
nooo i just realized another problem in my envy... the screen was popping out! when i said the glass was distorted on the bottom and side
. I popped it back in the side no problem but then its warped on the bottom and i used pressure but its not going in. Its not affecting the screen at all i think its just the glass overlay. I just dont want dust to get in... should i risk it? My colors seem perfect.
So far these are the only 2 problems:
disk eject thing... i might try the exacto knife thing dunno hwo to cut it tho I wouldnt wnana scratch metal.
and glass bulge on bottom of screen... Its not going in but not affecting my laptop usage... im just woried dust might go inside. What should i do???
btw i did install cpuz but its not telling me the right mhz... its varying b/w 600-900 mhz I think cause the ram is not being fully used.
what should i DO guys? I do got the warranty I just dont wanna go without a laptop
----
looked up the part number... it is 1333mhand expensive too! 155.94 for 4 gbs... http://www.buysamsungparts.com/m471b5273dh0-ch9.html
-
The way I looked at it is if I'm spending over a thousand buck on something it's shouldn't less than what the perfect product should be... Having said that I'm loving my envy except for this stupid problem... Also USB dent but that's nothing.
I'm really gonna hate to part it and wait almost another month.(
-
Yeah my screen isnt flush at the bottom and I had to snap in the top right corner when I got it, I don't want to go another month without a laptop either
everything else seems to be ok, and the problem isnt affecting the screen but I dont want problems down the road... should we lobby for replacement and another 100 off lol? might wait till a quick ship comes out and try my luck getting them to replace it with one of those

oh i chcecked out the webcam... why is there a tiny led there... so pointless it doesnt light up anything an inch from it let alone be useful in the dark -
I have a 7730M with DDR3 in a Pavilion, which is the same GPU core and speed as the Envy's 7750M, but the Envy has DDR5 memory instead.
My GPU has artifacting video card issues at stock 575MHz and if I overclock it by just 15MHz (max it will take) then I can really notice it.
Has anyone here managed to overclock the 7750M, if so can you please post by how much? -
So now that most of you have received your Envy 15 Ivy Bridge, is it confirmed that the red/orange problem is no longer an issue for the refreshed model? Also, can someone check if there are any keyboard flex around the "ASD" area?
-
-
Check out my thread, I've updated it with photos from my phone (wish I had a better camera for everyone) including red, but blue is the problem for me.
HP Envy 15 32XX: LCD Panel Colors - Faded blues and green cast
As for keyboard flex, I do have some but it's nothing unexpected - at least to me. I imagine if I pressed down on any laptop there would be visible flex, but while typing I don't notice it at all. -
as for the flex, there is some, not as much as the mobiletechreview lady and u gotta press hard but there is some. The keyboard doesnt feel any different due to the flex or maybe its just cause i been typing on crappy ones..
i cant believe hp made me wait a month and put me through that hassle to find 1333 mhz ram.. I woulda paid the extra just to get my envy earlier -__-
EDIT: nvm checked again and im also getting 798.3 mhz.... but when i check the other tab it gives me the sticks model number and such and when i looked it up it was 1333 mhz im confuzzled :S
yeah max bandwidth is 800 which x2 =1600mhz... now im not sure ughhh -
I wish I had the new Envy 15 with me now, so that I can compare the Envy 15-3000 vs. Envy 15-3200 vs. Envy 17-3200 side by side.
On a side note, I'm experiencing keyboard flex around the ASD keys for the Envy 15-3000, whereas on the Envy 17 that area is fine, but there's flexing around the IOP and 0 keys.
I think I'm gonna return my Envy 17 IB for the new Envy 15 IB. Just waiting for another 33% off coupon, hopefully within the next couple of days... -
still here waiting patiently waiting for my envy to ship, *sigh*. ordered 6/4, est. ship 6/26,but i hope it ships early on monday. i did get an e-mail today that said the recovery disks i ordered wouldn't be coming with my order and i would be getting a refund for what i paid for them. i ordered when the website was still messed up. i hope that is a sign my envy is almost ready to go.
-
if it matters at all, im not really happy with my envy right now. it wont let me OC it
-
yes got it to unlocktime for some funnn
-
Yeah so just checking in I got my laptop and was kind of taken back by the nicks I have on the bottom body of the laptop. None of them are very big and if I wasn't looking for it I wouldn't see them but come on. On a brand new laptop I was not expecting to see 4 marks already on it right out of the box. The bottom of the screen is popping out just a little but nothing too noticeable. My keyboard has a little flex but nothing to bad. Other than that this is pretty solid and I am liking almost everything about it.
One thing though is that my cd drive sounds like it is screaming at me whenever I turn on my laptop. Is anyone else having this issue? I didn't want to spend money on a hd caddy but I might pick one up and place another hard drive in it just so I don't have to hear that every time. -
. i would recommend u put in a cd and try ejecting it. alot of people are having problems with the felt.

I just noticed my CD gets stuck too. I don't really care though since I hardly ever use the CD-ROM Drive. You can easily still get the CD out if you just push the foam down a bit with something flat.
-
I can only manage a less than 3% overclock (that is unstable) of just 15MHz max, you are getting up to 92MHz over stock which is sweet
I am thinking there are some bad 77X0M GPU cores out there, if anyone get a GPU core like mine, that does not overclock much over stock, then is likely to have video artifact issues.
The Witcher 2 is producing artifacts on the GPU with my 7730M, same deal but minus the DDR5 memory. Even worse and actually terribile is Deus Ex - Human Revolution
Can anyone here please run Deus Ex - Human Revolution, please post if you are not getting any GPU artifacts or not? -
-
so many quality control problems with hp.
-
So does anyone have any advice on how to remove the heatsink? Seems to be the most complicated setup I've seen in a laptop.
Also, how do you remove the HDD? There's a Windows sticker on it, I have a feeling swapping out the HDD for an SSD will void the warranty or something. -
Just received my Envy yesterday and I'm trying to figure out how to enable manual graphics switching...can't find the graphics switching option in BIOS. did they take away this feature in the ivy bridge ENvy?
NOW AVAILABLE: ENVY 15-32XX Intel Ivy Bridge (AMD 7750M)
