If no one even contact HP to do such a gaming machine, it is very likely not to appear in the lineup as new product lines are created only when demand is anticipated by the manufacturer.

i guess we wont need to write letters now if the hd 7750m performs how the rumors are saying: AMD Radeon HD 7750M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

above a 670m and equal to 6970m in performance

Hopefully this is the case cause then the envy will be a beastin machine. Pull through for me AMD :S

Yep, I'm surprised my three year old envy is still running all the latest games at 1080p.

But I suspect it will be time to upgrade soon. Certainly hope they bring back the dual SSD option for the Ivy Bridge model.

Or is it the ENVY 15 still?

I'm guessing they are going to go with 14.5" and 16.4" for the "envy 4" and "envy 6"

maybe they will skip 15.6" and 17.3" altogether

16.4" is not too bad, although I prefer 15, it's still seems much more convenient than a 17.3" laptop

15.6" could be ENVY 6... as the DV6 was 15.6".

Or that could possibly be Ultrabooks?

The ENVY 4 and 6 are definitely new naming scheme. Previously it was ENVY 13, 14, 15, and 17.

This isn't strictly relevant to the topic at hand, but since this is the only word I've seen of the 7750M I thought it couldn't hurt to ask here.

I don't suppose anyone's seen anything that hints at a 7750M in a Trinity-equipped laptop yet? I did try asking HP, actually, just for fun, but I was told that those who deal with end users aren't allowed to know anything about future products.

nope I think trinity will focus mainly at the ultratin/ultrabook segment. there will be some laptops with both dgpu and igpu (dv6z refresh?) but knowing how manufactures dont really like amd and that they got a bad rep... prolly not :(

It sounds they will announce the quad core IB laptops on Monday, and then "mainstream" dual core laptops later, in June. Perhaps the headline is misleading a bit about the "2nd wave" as it seems those would be the mainstream laptops to be announced in June that Otellini was referring to.

Hope some more info leaks over the weekend ;-)

From what we've heard, it seems like the Envy 4/6 is an ultrabook line that's an alternative option to the Spectre 13/14. The Spectre ultrabooks are priced pretty steeply, so I'd guess HP wants to offer a cheaper ultrabook option as well.

I don't think HP has specific intentions on launching the Envy 15 refresh before ultrabooks. The Envy 15 has also been around for only half a year.

I think it's more likely that they're just unifying their naming conventions. So the Envy 4 will be an obvious upsell of the dv4, and likewise for the dv6 to Envy 6.

^ you should hear more about it in the next 2 weeks. What I would do is no matter how long it's going to take until official release and words, I would return and wait for the update, you won't be waiting for 'months'

I think if anybody is counting on a refresh anytime soon could possibly be disappointed. Sure, it might come out soon... and I also present you the Sandy Bridge Envy 14s from last year, which came out about 5 months after Sandy Bridge processors/chipsets were released. I hope for everybody's sake they do come out sooner rather than later, but my point is that there's zero guarantee they'll be refreshed right away.

vendors know people like us are itching to drop cash for new technology. They obviously want to exploit that instead of losing customers to competitors -- The refresh will be here sooner than later.

It would be awesome if hp had an alternative options for the upcomming envy 15 with a a10-4600m and 7750m...
/drool it would satisfy my gaming needs...

but seriously its rediculas the dv6z or whatever for 850$ has better gaming performance than their envy line right now and thats with a 1080p screen, maxed processor (amd) and 7690m.
