    Sorry, what I meant was that I'd like to see them replace the current Radiance display, which is an IPS with some color-reproduction issues, with a new display of Radiance quality, regardless of technology, that doesn't have the color issues. As far as I can tell, whether TFT or IPS, displays that HP markets as "Radiance" tend to have great viewing angles, brightness, contrast, and (with this recent exception) color reproduction.

    There are benchmarks of the HD 7770M that places it slightly ahead of the GT 650M. The HD 7750M and GT 650M will probably be similar in performance. The benchmarks are on a "desktop test system," but it should be close enough to actual performance.
    Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be seeing the HD 7850M in the Envy 15, like how the HD 6850M was only in the Envy 17-2XXX. Would be really nice though. :/

    As for the display, I'm very curious of what HP will do. HP probably wants to offer something superior to the DV6's 1080p screen and slap on the "Radiance" label, and the DV6's panel already has decent contrast, acceptable gamut, etc. Maybe LG made a new revision to their 15.6" IPS panel.

    If the 7750m and the 650m aren't all that different, I don't see the point in offering both. It would actually be cheaper for HP to choose the lower-cost option and buy up those GPU's in bulk from one manufacturer.

    wow the info on the last page got me excited.. i hope it releases by the end of this month or early june..
    it kind of makes sense since back to school deals would be around september which would be the right time for them to get rid of their stock and release the refreshed version by christmas time

    stupid question... HP Discover 2012 | Making technology work for you does this summit have anything to do with laptops? im too tired to browse through it more thoroughly but from what i have read there is not much besides
    maybe envy 15 refresh? i wasnt expecting anything from the "influencer summit" but i happened to fall upon it

    Haha, it's all in between the GTX 560 and GTX 460 ranks, which are apart by only ~10% in performance. Not something to be concerned about, even if the GT 650M winds up being a bit faster than the HD 7750M.

    As for the HP Discover thing, I don't think they'll be announcing the Envy refresh there. That seems to be directed towards businesses/IT work.

    Yup great find +rep. Its confirmed that it will be getting 1gb gddr5 7750m. It also lists the 3610 and 3612 as the only IVB processors so it should be out... any day now

    Honestly, I don't think that IB 3610 and 3612 are comparable to previous SB 2760 and 2860...

    is the i7-3610QM / 3612QM better or worse than i7-3820QM that u can get in a dv6tqe because if the i7-3820 qm is better than i dont get why hp wouldnt put it in its envy line when its already in their lower dv6 line
    based on what ive seen the 3820 is better so i was hopin to have that in the envy instead like the dv6 but i guess any ivy bridge is better than no ivy bridge

    The 3610 and 3612 are lower voltage ones. They are MUCH slower than the i7-3820qm.. The 3820 is a full voltage ivy bridge. The new envy line are ultrabook and sleekbooks... Made to conserve power, which is helped by the under-volted core.

    So I need an answer quick here for my new Envy 15. I recently sent in my Envy 14 for repairs, and they said that it was impossible and that they would just upgrade me to the Envy 15 for free. I chose out all my new specs and submitted, but i just saw this thread about the new Ivy Bridge lineup. Should I call back and tell them to hold off until the new lineup comes in? How long so you guys supposed that'll be?

    There's no official word, so it could be any time. Computers are starting to ship with the processors and GPUs that the new Envy 15 and 17 are supposed to have, so it could be a matter of days, but it could be months - when HP doesn't say anything, we have no way of knowing.

    Thanks for the update. It looks like HP changed some of the ports as well.
    An eSATA/USB 3.0 combo port replacing the USB 2.0 port, VGA, mini-Display Port instead of Display Port, and 2 headphone/mic (1 combo) ports instead of 3.

    Good to see HP bring back the eSATA/USB 3.0 combo port.

    edit: there's no mention of the changed ports and height dimension in the updated Maintenance and Service Guide, though it does say that the refreshed Envy (32XX) doesn't have the USB 2.0 port. I think the specs listed on the site would be more accurate, but not sure what to expect :S
    edit2: nevermind, this apparently was what the Envy 15-3000 was originally supposed to be, not the refresh.

    Great find +rep... weird they refreshed it and arent allowing IVB processors yet. It has gotten smaller... its 1.004 inches thick instead of 1.11, i wonder if they removed the black part on the botton. I wonder how will this affect its cooling? I was hoping to insame overclock the 7750m with the beast of a cooling system the current one has.

    Edit: Theres no sign of a thunderbolt port or msata slot damn you HP! They better offer a blue ray player on this model as well... top of the line and the last version didnt have an option for one.

    EDIT: And now its not. The first time I clicked the link, it redirected me to the same page as where the link you responded to went. The second time worked fine...

    Based on what I can see there are two different links but both the laptops seem to be the same, they both have 7750m
    also is an i7-2860QM better or worse than a i7-3610QM. A lot of the benchmarks i have seen show them as pretty evenly matched.

    The i7-2860QM and the i7-3610QM are roughly even with each other.
    However, the i7-3610QM should be much cheaper and be priced similarly to the i7-2670QM (ie $300+ less than the i7-2860QM).

    Yes, but the HD 7850M is probably only on the Envy 17.
    The Envy 15 was originally slated to have the HD 7750M, but it was delayed so that HP had to go with the HD 7690M.

    The price of the updated Envy 15 should probably be the same as it has been, though the discounts might not be so deep at first.

    Agreed that it's probably only on the Envy 17, but it's promising that at some point in the process there has at least been a door left open to put the 7850m into the Envy 15, per that driver sheet.

    Right but have you looked in that cva file:

    Code:
    [Devices]
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6825="Radeon (TM) HD [B]7850M[/B]"
    PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_6827="Radeon (TM) HD [B]7850M[/B]"

    SysId02=0x1853
    SysName02=HP ENVY 17
    SysId03=0x1852
    SysName03=HP ENVY 17
    Hence my question - how accurate have these cva files been in the past with previous unreleased products?

    You retrieved the CVA for 56896. 56897 is the one that shows two 7850M's and includes the same Envy 15 and two Envy 17s.

    I'm not going to expect anything on the optional 5850M front, it seems too good to be true, but if it happens, all the better.

    Since this has progressed so quickly, when do you HP buffs expect a release? Thanks!
