I had the same question, but I was also wondering if the dv5t came with 667 or 800 MHz RAM.

-
omg what happened to 512 nvidia card on dv5t????
its not listed anymore in hp customize page
please dont tell me they discontinued and its just a matter of out of stock... i would be so pissed if they take this card from the notebook -
oh wow, what happened to that?
-
Oh failed, the 9600GT Is gone. Looks like dv5t is no longer an option.
-
I sent them an e-mail asking about the 9600M GT, because I just ordered a dv5t yesterday and I want to make sure I get it. Hopefully I get a response soon or I'll give them a call later today.
-
HP peopel are obviously opium addicted crack babies if they take this option out, in fact they need a 9800 gt like the new clevo!
-
i did sent email too but not shopped yet... lets hope they tell me its a matter of outta stock... **fingers crossed**
-
I just chatted to 'Janice' from hp
-
AS for the RAM guys, its DDR2-800mhz
-

10:46:28 AM Debra
Thank you for your patience.

10:47:13 AM Debra

10:47:43 AM Debra
Our promotion may be taken out without prior notice.
10:48:18 AM Debra
We'll never know. I just don't have access on that, David. -
wow hp messed up big on this one
-
OH jeez... Now I'm wondering if i'm actually going to get my 9600GT... if not goodbye HP. Then i have no idea what to buy, maybe the Asus with a 9600GS.
-
Well, don't believe anything the people say when u talk to a "tech" online. They know absolutely nothing and chances are they are wrong. I had a 15 minute conversation with this one woman who didn't speak english and she didn't know what RAM was.
-
HAha yead dude wtf... so did i -
lmao so basically better performing machine is the dv5z with the IGP over the dv5t with the 9200gs...gg hp
-
So what are you guys going to buy now?
I've been looking at the Asus M50Vm-A1, but it has a slower hard drive (I wanted a 7200 RPM HDD), and a 9600 GS instead of GT.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220366
Does anyone know of any other notebooks with similar specs to the dv5t? -
So, I just got off the phone (and recieved an e-mail) confirming that my order still includes the 9600M GT, but they will no longer be offered. Just glad I didn't have to cancel my order!
-
-
lol i have a config sitting in the checkout with the 9600gt still from yesterday...I BEAT THE SYSTEM!
-
-
Does it have the 7-pin S-video out to connect to TV like dv6700t has, or just a vga-out??? can vga out be connected to tv thru component or s-video using addapter???
-
it does say "NOTE: Your VGA card must support TV out directly through VGA port function. Please consult with your VGA card's user manual for more information. " but... who knows...mb its what u looking for. -
-
or asking hp staff... but they are soooo inefficient... that i wouldnt recomend thisthey alwasys say "i cant acces that information" rofl...
BTW sucks the 512MB card got eliminated but still... i like the dam laptop... mb ill get it with the stupid 250 one since the dv7t is extra expensive -
Now, the GF9600 512MB is out in the options of configuration....WTF with HP.
-
and the HP is no longer offering the 9600gt -
-
Maybe, if enough people send HP an email through their Contact HP links and complain, they will bring the 9600M GT back as an option?
-

Come on everybody, let's do this. -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
seriously tho... i sent them a complaint, told em dell really appreciates their decision, and that my $2000.00 well be better spent at dell.
-
That's exactly what I said. I filled out a big long complaint saying how terrible it was to rip this out from under us just a few days after its release. I even said I was speaking on behalf of a whole forum of poeple whi have changed their minds and yada yada. And to think I was waiting until Sunday to see if the price came down a bit.
My dad also made a suggestion. What if there was something wrong with the GT? Maybe they pulled it for a reason.? The tech people don't know anything about the decisions/changes which are actually made. They just read their screen and see what it says there is. You think this is a possibility? Are there other laptops out there which also have the 9600GT which may have also been pulled?
Now I don't know what to do. I was thinking of the Dell Studio 15 the XPS seems to be really expensive when you compare similar features say with the old and forgotten dv5t. Are there really any other good laptops other than Dell and HP? I am trying to avoid toshiba. -
i want a reason... just makes no sense.
-
Yes, the dv7t has that graphics card and it's still available as an option. Maybe that's why they changed it...the two computers were too similar. I was certainly considering going with the dv5t over the dv7t and now I won't.
-
man, i'm so upset over this. i think they just lost my business..and i love HP.
-
-
guys may i suggest the ASUS M50VM-A1. Here. is a review that you may actually find informative. Take note of the benchmark scores. =) HP is nuts.
-
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
I spoke to a customer service rep at HP, his name was Jason, and he spoke with an american accent. tho that might not mean much to some people, trying calling dell sometime. anyways, he said that sometimes when an item goes out of stock, they remove it from the configurator. perhaps the dv7ts are seeling like hotcakes compared to the dv5ts, and their just saving them for the 7s for now, till they get more in. maybe wishful thinking, but i can see a glimpse of logic in it.
As for buying the 7 over the 5, who wants a huge laptop to lug around, when i want a bigger screen, ill hook it up to my 50 in flat screen. -
B.S. I say. I think they dv5's were selling like hotcakes and nobody bought a dv7. How do they force people into the dv7? Take away the good video card.
-
Yaaaay, I have a 9600.
But this is total BS. I mean, taking out the main reason people buy the dv5t?
Phail with a large magnitude. -
steveninspokane John 14:6 - Only ONE Way!
i think i might move towards your logic. anyways MuMar, thanx for that link, im actually lookin around for the best deal for it, i know newegg has it for 1299, even comes with a 1 gig GPU, the 9600m not bad, now if i can just find a place with a decent return policy
-
Try gentech pc. I think asus would be nothing without them =)
-
It does make zero sense considering a lot of the reviews that are out are with the 9600gt. I suspect that maybe indeed they are out of stock, and as for the the reason why the dv7t still has it, maybe the 9600 is directly soldered onto the MB for the dv5t, compared to a card form for the dv7t.
-
i dont think i can sleep tonight knowing that HP did such a thing to me.
-
I talked to hp using the online chat, and this is what they told me:
Agent (Kathy V): "Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Store chat."
Agent (Kathy V): "Hi Matthew, my name is kathy."
Matthew: "I was getting ready to purchase a dv5t laptop until I saw that the GeForce 9600M GT option was gone...
Agent (Kathy V): "I apologize for the inconvenience Matthew. The HP Pavilion dv5t is a great model."
Agent (Kathy V): "Regretfully, we do not become aware of product or component release dates until shortly before they are available to our customers, and as such, cannot provide an exact date. I recommend checking back regularly for product arrival, or for future reference, our newsletter would provide this information in a timely manner before its release.
Matthew: "But it was there yesterday, why is it all of a sudden gone?"
Matthew: "I know I'm definitely not the only one upset about this, the removal of this option is a deal breaker for me..."
Agent (Kathy V): "I understand Matthew. The HP Pavilion dv5t is in demand laptop. There is a possibility that a component was shortage."
Agent (Kathy V): "I'm sorry to know that, Matthew. There are a lot of inquiries about it."
Matthew: "about the GeForce 9600M GT?"
Agent (Kathy V): "Yes, Matthew."
Matthew: "ahhh, i need that graphics card, I will have to start shopping elsewhere if it does not become available again soon"
Agent (Kathy V): "I believe it will come back soon since it gathered a lot of attention."
Agent (Kathy V): "Customer Satisfaction is very important to HP."
Matthew: "so the removal of this option was most likely temprary and due to a shortage of some sort?"
Agent (Kathy V): "I believe it was the shortage of the component since the HP Pavilion dv5t is a popular notebook now a days. May people loved it."
Agent (Kathy V): "We have the HP Pavilion dv7t that has the GeForce 9600M, did you check it?"
Matthew: "yeah, 17 inches is too big for me, i need the smaller laptop becaues I have to carry it around a lot"
Agent (Kathy V): "Oh okay, I understand. You can check back regularly, Matthew."
Agent (Kathy V): "We really appreciate your interest in HP products."
Matthew: "Thank you for your help"
Agent (Kathy V): "Don't worry it will be back soon since many people want it to be back as soon as possible."
Agent (Kathy V): "You are welcome."
Agent (Kathy V): "Is there anything else I can assist you with today?"
Matthew: "No, thank you. have a nice day"
Agent (Kathy V): "We're hoping that we will be hearing from you soon."
Agent (Kathy V): "Thank you once again for using HP Home & Home Office Store chat."
Agent (Kathy V): "Have a wonderful day."
Session Ended

Hmmm...so hopefully we'll be seeing this option back again soon?? I have been waiting for this laptop for months, I really hope that they add this option back..Hopefully it was just a shortage. -

-
My best buy has a dv5t, just one though.
It has a blu-ray player, Wireless N... -
Seriously they better bring back the 9600GT, hopefully mine didn't get ordered yesterday and I can still cancel it with my purchasing agent..I'd really prefer to wait a week or two and get the 9600gt.
-
