@kramerz: i noticed the word "higher", that tweak is only for users with full HD display, it adds extra smaller resolution for gaming (720p & 900p). I am assuming you on 1366x768 screen ? And for the mobo swap, it's simple just pretty much remove and replace and if lucky you can boot back to Windows 7 successfully without a hiccup

WOW. This worked. After a year of messing with the drivers and trying to get them to work, this worked flawlessly! I think I love you.

Weird.. when I try the normal process on this driver, I don't see the '4830 series, this driver is unsigned' option...

    Anybody else seeing something odd?

    What am I missing?

No... something's amiss with the 11.12 pair. It doesn't work. BSOD.. 11.11 works fine.

edit: The inf in the 11.12 zip file needs to be modified to work as the old ones did. 'Find the NTamd64.6.1 section and delete it. (e.g. leaving just the NTamd64.6.0 part).

(Found this comparing old inf's to new ones.)

    Then it works.

ive tried everything (uninstalled everything, reinstalled latest driver, test mode downloaded new driver, restart code f'n 52) and have it installed correctly but code 52 still comes up even in test mode and with Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b. When i install it, it just asks to restart but when i do it wont work. If 5830 ati drivers are supposed to run without problem how come mine is messing up? HELP T_T

Petdoc, which GPU do you have ? If it's 5830, you don't need to follow my thread, just go download the driver directly from ATI or guru3d an install normally

Chris, just upload the inf somewhere, and pm me. Meanwhile I ll post a preview driver up.

edit: check out new prev drivers, since you play games I think it gives better performance than those are current provided by ati and the 12.1 preview in the link you showed.

I started to stop posting up preview drivers because every 2-3 days, there is always a new one, and some of them are not optimized better than the WHQL one. But just let me know which preview you want next time. And I do look for the best preview driver to post (update 13 !) :)

What exactly is code 52, what does it say ? Have you tried uninstall everything (using ATIUninstaller.. and Driver Sweeper in safe mode) then install from stock HP driver, then driver of your choice ?

Code 52 is when Microsoft blocks an unsigned program. I basically followed the 4830 driver instructions. I figured out how to get past code 52 by disabling the signature enforcement feature on the advanced boot options but when I ran a game it crashes or refuses to start. I will retry with your instructions, I hope ccleaner is ok to use to clean the drives. On a seperate note, is there a virus that can prevent me from updating my drivers? Thanks

You don't need to do any of this. Start windows as normal and remove any programs/ tweaks that you have done as a result of reading this thread. Download the mobility drivers direct from ATI and install as is.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO MODIFY THE DRIVERS THAT YOU DOWNLOAD FROM ATI - THAT PART IS FOR HD4830 USERS ONLY

That should get them working for you

Hi I'm running a fresh installation of Windows 7, and I'm just want to check I've understood the correct procedure before trying to install the drivers.

    - install HP ATI Mobility HD4830 8.712 Drivers (sp48427) - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48247.exe (as mentioned in post #42)

    - restart computer

    - run amd_catalyst_11.11c_windows_vista_7 - AMD Catalyst 11.11C "Performance Driver" (8.911.1 November 30) - Guru3D.com Forums
through the extraction but don't install

    - download ATI Catalyst 11.11c (Performance) WHQL.zip

    - Follow instructions found in folder

You need to install 8.712 first. Then download the new driver package in the link I provided. Then download the correct zip and follow from there. You can't replace the file in the zip into the the 8.712 folder.
    Hope that will help you

have you tried the 11.12 driver ? If not , try again from the beginning, fresh with HP's. If it still doesn't work PM me either the .inf file name C7xxxx of the driver you want (11.12 or the preview one)

ATI Catalyst 12.1 Preview + OpenCL 1.2 doesn't work for me either - same specs and problem as luis: Win7 x64, 1st Gen Envy, 4830, 11.11c performance worked for me.

New .inf's on this page also didn't help. Same problem.

Do i choose the CHXXXX or the CXXXXX inf? in the driver package on the first page it is a CHXXXXX.inf and on this page your supplying a CXXXXX.inf?

    Trying 11.12 now

Most of the preview drivers I get my hands on have very different "lines" in there. When I try modify the usual way with the WHQL drivers, some work and some don't... But yeah if you play 2011 games (Bf3, skyrim, etc), you can simply put atioglxx something .dll (of the driver you want) in the game folder. That will work just fine

    Hi guys,

Been trying to get anything better than 8.712.0.0 running but everytime (with any modded version) i try to install it stops with "System cannot find the file specified" message and driver is unchanged.

    Steps taken:
    uninstalled ATI catalyst and drivers
    ran CCleaner
    installed HP drivers (sp48247.exe)
got the ATI Catalyst 8.94 Dec 20th
updated driver in device man. using "have disk" going to ATI Catalyst 8.94 Dec 20th unzip location.

update doesnt go through and ends with above mentioned message.

    where did i go wrong?

hey Tayleule, that error means the inf file (driver file) contains a different directory link to the driver package. I think you did not replace the correct modded inf file in the correct driver package ?

That's might be because the preview driver doesnt have CCC, you can update to previous driver with CCC then just update the driver only

Hey there again; all's well running the non - signed updated driver as far as performance goes.
Except, now my catalyst control center cannot detect multiple monitors..... more specifically, connecting an external monitor works but catalyst control center does not detect any displays, including the one built into the laptop. This would be okay but I happen to use the overscan feature in catalyst to close the otherwise default letterboxing on the external (it's 1080 as well) which is now a blurry mess as a result.

~I installed the unsigned drivers via hardware manager in windows. I have a feeling my catalyst control center is out of date but I don't know where/ how to update the control center. I'm currently running 2010.0302.2233.40412. Please help.

if you only installed the driver. You can run the setup and install everything else beside the driver (untick it).
