I only have like 800 bux anyone know a way to get this for 1kish with the radiance screen? don't care bout processor or anything.

 

Sweet, my laptop is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and August 12th was actually the estimated build date. But I won't be home. Does anyone know if FedEx delivers on Saturdays? Otherwise I'll fill out the pre-sign thing and have to hope no one steals my laptop... or can you just pick it up from their local facility?

 

hey so we had a BCB PM list last before july ended.
as most of you know, BCB never came back after july 12th

so....how about we have a new PM list? like an ENVY 14 discount list?
we shall set it at $100+ coupons (there are $200 and $100 coupons out right now, but note it's not for the envy 14. only PM everyone on the list if and when coupons/discounts are eligible for the E14)

That was me who said that . And after returning my envy to the fedex store on the same day I called in and got the RMA number, I received an estimated build date of 8/19. To my delight...but it was somewhat expected after a conversation with an HP Envy rep...the envy was at my door today. 8 days prior to the expected build date. WEeeeee

 

Same here. I got my replacement today. Unfortunately it had to go straight back. The lid was dent due to something puncturing the exterior box. I guess it had so much force that it cut the interior box (the black hard one) and dented the lid =(.

The original build date was 7/22. The new build date is 8/20. Woe is me.

 

Heh, I actually ended up getting it today; apparently they made a delivery attempt today and then I went to the FedEx place to pick it up. So far it seems pretty awesome, the keyboard is actually pretty amazing as far as I can tell, don't see any obvious physical defects yet either. Touchpad is iffy but I always intended to use a USB mouse anyway.

 

I am SO in for this.

 

Use the education discount. That'll make it 1080 plus tax.

If you want to try to get it lower, wait a couple days, then try calling to cancel saying you don't have the money for it right now (After it gets dropped to factory). They should be able to offer you a refund of 50-80 dollars.

 

hey guys ... is it possible for hp to change back to the normal price of $1099 with the radiance screen without having to fork out another $100 to upgrade it if we wait it out ?
Its so frustrating that I did not buy it then ... and I have been following since it was first released . I soo regret it now .....

I'd say go for it, radiance screen is really nice. Since you're already going to be shelling out so much $, I'd fork over another 100 on a laptop youll have for a while to come.

 

I'd like to be on the list, but I'll probably buy my E14 in the next week or so, I don't know how much help it would be.

I found a brochure in a starbucks coffee shop a while back for discounts on hp. Has anybody tried Googling "hp starbucks", seems you get 10% off just like the academic discount.

 

BCB has been discontinued, so there is no PM list anymore.

I wasn't really talking about BCB, although I've been kicking myself all week when I realized I waited too long. I kept checking BCB everyday to see if it went up from it's 2-3%, but apparently it was at 30% in the mornings.

dude i don't think it's right to do such a thing. You are cheating the system which is built on trust.

Is it unusual to have it dropped off before the estimated date? I leave on a trip on the 19th so I was wondering if I should plan to set everything up really fast so I can use it while I'm gone.

 

I just logged into the HPA (HP student site), when I try to customize an Envy 14, it doesn't allow me to choose hi res (1600x900). Can anyone else confirm this?

 

I just checked, and you're right: The only screen on offer at the moment is the low-res Brightview screen. Hopefully they're in the middle of changing the price for the Radiance screen back to what it was (and should be ).

Since this is my first post, I'll also say hi. I've been following the Envy 14 threads slavishly since early June, and I was lucky enough to be on vacation away from the Internet when 30% BCB hit. Lucky me, right? Since then, I've been waiting patiently for a decent coupon and for the Radiance screen to drop back down in price.

 

Does anybody have any guess as to when coupons will be available for the Envy 14? Or does HP typically exclude ENVYs with their coupon codes?

I did find an old expired code for a ENVY 13 that was 400 off 1499 or more. Was that a typical coupon I should expect or was that an unusually good deal.

Lastly will BCB ever come back?

I just want a gauge of what prices to expect. My current config is 1289 - 100 education discount = 1189. It would be nice to get it around 1000.

 

Bing is not coming back. The program was shut down at the end of July. I don't think anyone here knows when the next coupon will be. HP may have trouble selling the envy 14 now since there's no radiance screen. Hopefully, they'll get their act together soon and fix that issue though. If not, they may issue a coupon while there's no radiance screen, which would be lame

Ditto man, waited too long for BCB. Why did they take down the Radiance screen?! I was going to buy mine yesterday, but now without the high-res screen the Envy 14 is oddly similar to the dm4t, ugh.

 

Man, I wonder why the radiance screen is unavailable.

 

I got the shipping email at 4.50 AM saying it had been shipped out. It was supposed to ship on the 19th, so I am pretty happy. I did 2 day shipping, so I hope I get it Wednesday.

I also ordered a dv6t Select Edition last night. With an extra 250$ coupon, it was just too good to pass up. Hopefully it will ship this week so I can compare the two directly. I would be saving 500 dollars by returning the envy. We'll see. Also, I could sell the envy w/ 1600x900 screen to someone if HP doesnt add it back for sale!

 

has anyone tried changing their shipping option after they put their order up ?

like changing 2 day to standard. I've just noticed that my standard shipping takes 3 days instead of 5-7 (ordered 2 envys). the 2nd one hasn't shipped yet and it's still in the works. I think it's a waste of 39$ to make it 1 less day to ship.

update: tried two times to change my shipping on my order. seems like they can't change it even if it's in production... wasted 39$

I've been diligently following the tracking page since it shipped (estimated build date was August 17th, it shipped on the 13th). Yesterday, it left Memphis, TN and I expected it would take a couple more days to get here (Miami).

So this morning, I was sleeping in (gotta enjoy as much of that as possible since I won't be doing it once fall semester starts in a few days T_T) and I hear pounding on my door. My half-asleep brain couldn't fathom who the hell would be banging on my door at 10 AM, so I rolled over and shut it out.

Banging continued three more times. Finally, right after the fourth one, the idea sparked in my brain that, "hey, that might be my Envy!"

Don't think I've ever been out of bed so quickly in my life.

Went right over to the door and opened it, only to see the FedEx guy climbing into his truck and driving away. It was difficult to resist the urge to chase after him down the street in my boxers.

Moral of the story? Hell, I dunno. Sleeping in sucks. But, I am rather surprised at how ahead of schedule everything went. The machine shipped 5 days early and the estimated delivery date from FedEx was the morning of the 18th. So all told, my laptop with 5-7 day shipping arrived in a little over 3.2 days, including Saturday and Sunday, and ahead of the estimated build date. I'm happy I didn't pay the extra $50 or whatever for the 2 day shipping, since it doesn't look like it would've made much difference, heh.

 

Just received my envy 14 at work 30 minutes ago. I haven't working ever since cause i'm just busy setting up my envy 14 lol. no whining, one small mark on the top left corner tip of the alum lid. not visable from far range. doesn't bother me much.

took 3 business days to receive it. i did 5-7 day standard shipping. that's what i get for living in new york

 

Just got off the phone with a friend from HP, I asked him about the Radiance screen not showing up as an option anymore, the news wasn't very good...

He said they're out of stock on the screen which is the bad news but the worse news is that an internal memo was sent to inform techs and reps about the stock issue and it also said that there is "No knowledge on when or even if the Radiance Infinity display will return as an option."

Lucky people who ordered theres before they ran out and the rest of us can sit here and just cross our fingers that it does come back and soon.

 

This is horrible news. I'm very curious what the real reason behind pulling the radiance screen is. If it's simply just behind in stock, couldn't HP just delay the orders with a later build date? It's weird that they would get rid of the option completely unless there's a bigger reason behind all this.

 

Why cant they come up with a waiting list for the radiance screen orders?

If you're willing to wait for the radiance screen, they should be able to put u in a queue and deliver it to u as soon as it is available.

They should even add discounts if you're willing to wait over one month for the orders. That's just one way top manage the orders.

 

1: They might not know when the next shipment of radiance screens are, therefore cannot give an accurate build by date.
2: If they choose to give a false build by date and fail to finish by then, they'll have angry customers calling and cancelling/asking for discounts. They also risk having their customers tell their friends and families that HP does not hold it's word.

Therefore, it's better for HP to take it off and not risk losing money and gain bad reputation, or add onto their problems.

Well, I am waiting for all the kids to go back to school. Hp jacked up the price of the envy 14 by $100 overnight (when they made the radiance display an upgrade). When I asked why the sales rep told me because all the kids were going back to school and they wanted to rip off the students. Well, she did not say the last part but I read between the lines.

Sure wish I could see one of these in person before committing to buy online. The cpu whine is something I could not live with and it seems like a crap shoot whether you get a good one or not. I can't believe consumers put up with this.

 

See, I at this point, I don't know whether to wait it out in fear that Radiance gets dropped again (as per what was said in the other thread)? If I lose the radiance, then this computer loses pretty much all appeal...
