    From, SHANGHAI CN
    to ANCHORAGE, AK
    to MEMPHIS, TN

I live in California, is that normal? It could have been here tomorrow but they shipped it from AK to TN, sounds off to me :(

I picked mine up today @ 5.. just getting around to messing with it an hour ago. Me trackpad is the only thing wrong with mine.. the left click is noticeably louder. If I press down on the top right corner of the trackpad, and then click the left button it sounds normal.. The right button sounds normal regardless.

seriously? mine is supposed to be shipped on 27th, wondering if mine would get delayed as well.

By the way I bought my envy 14 beats edition like a week ago and now ( hp direct ) they cut the starting price of this laptop by $150 but im not sure if solo headphone is included in this price, it is $1,049 with logicbuy $50 off coupon currently.
I haven't gotten my laptop yet, it says in production. Can I call them to do any price adjustment? or Should I buy the same laptop and return one with older price?

Yes, you can call customer service and they will do the price adjustment. If for whatever reason they refuse, you can RMA the first laptop with 21 days and buy a new one off the site at the same price.

I just ordered mine, unfortunatly I couldn't afford the Radiance Display though, but I'm still really happy about finally getting my envy :D

Build date is Oct. 6th but because I'm not in the US I have to wait for my uncle to get it to me on Oct. 15th.

Have yours shipped out yet? Mine is still on delay until oct 6th and it was suppose to ship out on the 22nd of sept. :(

Also, I called and complained about the price drop and they said that the new beats edition does not come with the headphones hence the lower price.

    ordered: 9/20/10
    est. ship: 9/29/10

Well its the 29th and my order hasn't shipped yet. This worries me since everyone seems to have their laptop built 2-4 days earlier than the ETA. I ordered my Envy 14 with the Radiance screen. Since HP took off the option for the Radiance screen yesterday I'm afraid my order may be delayed due to a shortage of the screens. Or worse yet, they might not even be able to build my laptop with the Radiance screen. :(

    However this is what happened:
    Shipping 9-21-10
    Delivery date: 9-24-10

I received an email on 28th and they revised my estimation shipment date to 30th or no longer than 7 business days from the original date. I still haven't received any news from them as of today 30th :(

I am wondering if yours have shipped out yet. Its pretty painful to wait.

One more question , how long is the transit using free regular shipping? Thanks guys

Thanks everyone. I've reading the thread for months and this Tuesday I finally pull the trigger....

And the second day I found the Radiance option is gone... Lucky me.

I also have concerns about the quality of ENVY 14. There are some posts complaining the various issues for this model. Keep my finger crossed!

Ordered yesterday. Here's the detail, total $1416 including tax.

    HP Envy 14
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
    • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 Graphics [HDMI] - For Quad Core Processors
    • 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    • Microsoft(R) Office Starter 2010
    • No additional security software
    • 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard) - Up to 3.75 hours of battery life +++
    • 14.5" diagonal HD+ HP Radiance Infinity LED Display (1600x900)
    • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support (Slot Load)
    • HP TrueVision HD Webcam and Dual Digital Integrated Microphones [For Radiance Infinity Display]
    • Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth
    • Backlit Keyboard
    • Corel(R) PaintShop Photo(TM) Pro X3 + Corel(R) VideoStudio(R) Pro X3
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

While originally it was $1516. The next day I found the HDD option is $40 lower and I called their resolution center. A nice representative give me $100 back to my credit card.

Well, I decided I REALLY wanted this laptop, and with the Radiance display, so I went to ebay and found a store that was selling one brand new and unopened. So it's on the way!

    ordered: 9/20/10
    ship ETA: 9/29/10
    actually shipped: 9/30/10
    delivery ETA: 10/6/10
    updated delivery ETA: 10/7/10

Well my Envy 14 has been held up by a "clearance delay" at Anchorage, AK for the past 4 days. I guess HP didn't properly fill out the paperwork on my laptop. It's kind of discouraging since everyone here is getting their laptop built 2-4 days earlier than scheduled and delivered in only 2-3 days. :(

Is anyone else' laptop getting help by clearance delay, or is it just mine??

I have the exact problem as you. Here is the case with my envy 14 BE:
    Ordered : 9/16
    Ship ETA : 9/27
    Actual Shipment date : 10/1
    Delivery ETA : 10/6
    Updated : 10/7

It says clearance delay at Anchorage,AK as well , I am very dissapointed with this. I guess we just have to wait, there is nothing HP can do about it.
3 weeks is just too long for me to wait.

I just received the confirmation email that mine shipped today from Shanghai CN.

    Ordered 9/25
    Shipped 10/4
    Estimated Delivery 10/12

I ordered it with the Radiance screen so I've got my fingers crossed that it shows up with one.

    i5-450M | 4GB (1 DIMM) | 160GB SSD| Radiance display | $1516

I've never used an SSD before, but I surely notice the speed difference. The display is nice, but I honestly only got it for the higher resolution. As much as it pains me to lose the Radiance, I'm gonna send this one back and wait for the next refresh of the 14/15... which will hopefully include more powerful graphics and a blu-ray option.

Odd thing about the processor: device manager sees it as a 450M, but HWMonitor shows a 520M.

I had planned to get the OCZ Agility2 120GB drive at Microcenter (and have them match newegg.com) but they were out of stock.
I settled on the Corsair V128 but Microcenter wanted $80 more for it and would not PM so I just ordered through newegg.

I get 8GB more  and slightly slower 'claimed' write speeds.

HP 2710m 27" Diagonal Full HD Widescreen LCD Monitor
    HP Notebook Stand
    HP USB Media Port Replicator

Somewhere around $2400 including the monitor and docking stuff. After ordering I'm wondering if I should have gone with the i5 over the i7. I'm a little worried about battery life, although it shouldn't be a major issue. My current laptop gets a little over 2 hours on a full charge (closer to 3 if I turn everything off and just use it for taking notes) and I haven't run into any issues with it unless I forget to charge it between classes. I got the slice with it just in case but I'd prefer not to have it attached all the time. Seems like people are getting outstanding performance out of the i5, so I'm not sure I will really need the i7 much. Oh well, I'll test it out and see what it's like before making any decisions.

When talking about a Solid State Disk there is absolutely no problem with referring to it as a SSD.

HDD stands for hard disk drive, and it's called that because it's based on "hard disks," i.e. the hard spinning platters inside. An SSD doesn't have a disk at all, let alone a hard disk in particular. It uses solid state electrical charges instead, so it's given a suitably different name from disk drives.

Today is Oct 12th, and the status is still showing:
    Order in production
(Estimated to ship on October 12, 2010)

Someone placed order later than me and got shipment confirmation. I believe it is because of the Radiance 1600x900 LED display. Keep my finger crossed! I guess i'm in the last batch orders have Radiance option selected. BTW, I ordered at Sept 28th around 9:30AM EST.

Tried the coupon code in the cart after adding an E14, and I got this message: "The coupon entered does not apply to the items in your shopping cart. Please review the coupon for products included in this offer."

    Maybe the coupon's invalid? Broken?

I hear you - mine just made it to Anchorage, looking like a Friday delivery hopefully. That $200 coupon posted earlier is a great deal (even better than EPP), just called and after explaining the situation a few times, got the difference refunded back, HP's alright so far.

Ohhh--is that when it will work? Now you tell me.

So how does it work? Is it $total - coupon -10%? Or is it $total - 10% and then minus coupon?

The coupon didn't work for me when I had the student discounted price, so I'm pretty sure its only $total(without student discount) - $200(from the coupon).

So you mean you still have to login to the student discount account in order to use the -$200, right? hmmm....

EDIT: Meh, just did a build to match the one that amazon sells.. Even with -$200, the amazon is still cheaper in total, because of FS and no tax. Guess the deal-breaker here is if HP will ever re-offer the 1600x900 resolution.
