Yea hp has hassle free returns. They will take your computer back no questions asked for 21 days after you get it. I've done it once.

Alright, just thought I would give some input:
I ordered my first Envy 14 D) on Jan. 16 and the estimated ship date is the first of February. It now is currently "in production." I don't know how reliable this date is, but I heard from another NBR poster that HP overestimates this to make the customer happy when it comes early... so I'm assuming I'll receive it around the end of January hopefully

 

I hope that's the case, but I doubt it. I was really hoping to get it before the start of my internship at the end of the month.

 

true, they usually over estimate it, but im sure they'll be backed up with all the new orders because of the radiance and the coupon so I wouldnt expect any early deliveries..I ordered the Envy 14+580m+radiance+4gb 1 DIMM+90W travel charger and the delivery date is Feb. 2

 

Does anyone know if you can CANCEL an order hassle free? I just ordered a HP Envy with the coupon but there's a chance that my friend will give me his macbook in which case, i'll most definitely take it and save $1000. Not to mention I will be without a freaking computer for an entire month if I wait for HP.

can i just call and say I want to cancel it or do I have to wait until it actually ships out, sign for it, open it up and play with it lol and then call them and say I dont want it anymore. it seems like a big hassle for them to make it, ship it, take it back and sell it refurbished when they can just hit the cancel button.

 

nope canceling orders is something that HP fails at, very hard to do so, you may have to spend 2 hours on the phone to get them to agree and cancel. I guess they make up for this with easy returns lol unless you really need the money back now, I would just wait so you can play around with it and see how you like it.

 

me too, my estimated shipping date is also Feb 1st and it is currently under production~ hopefully it'll get here before Feb

 

damn that sucks to hear. well i did billmelater and she said that if i dont agree to the terms i can return the product. It may save them a bunch of work and money to just cancel it. But either way for me, I have the cash so i can wait till it comes and return it cause i haven't paid yet.

Yea dont worry. You can return it. Cancel is harder for some reason. On the other hand wow! who gives computers away for free? You must be a good friend lol.

 

I ordered one with a $500 coupon code and then the radiance came back. So I am returning my order. I ordered the 1st one Jan 3rd and received on Jan 12th

I don't think he ordered the radiance screen, he ordered late December and it was supposed to come on Jan 5th before constant delays

 

Strange, I ordered one on the 2nd and got it on the 13th. Returned it for a radiance tho.

 

December 26th. It was originally supposed to ship the 5th, which was then moved to the 12th (due to "parts constraints") then was moved to the 17th, and finally shipped on the 18th.

 

what was your setup ? I wonder which part was missing.

 

wow... my last envy was ordered on Dec 27 and it's shipped on Jan 3 although the estimated shipping date was like Jan 5....

 

My Beats version was delayed for a second time. They gave me an extra $100 off of my order. I ordered on Jan 2nd and now est ship is Jan 25th.

I'm not that desperate for this computer so the wait doesn't bother me. Hopefully if I get this computer in Feb and they announce some new configs, I can return it if the price difference isn't that big.

I missed out on the Radiance both times - I've had a 14.1inch 1280x800 TrueLife screen for the past 4 years and have no problems with it, so not sure how much I'd miss having the radiance.

 

Has anyone that ordered an envy in the past say 2 weeks had theirs ship yet?
I haven't seen anyone post lately that theirs has shipped or that they just got their envy 14.... Just a little impatient ha.

 

Is the TrueLife an HP trademark? If so, I have to say that I am amazed at how good video looks on my HP dv4t, 14" 1280X800 display, better even than the BOE-Hydis 12" 1200X800 on my 2740p. I guess that 14" screen on the DV4t must have had unusually good contrast, color gamut, or something else to make it look so good. In fairness to the Hydis on the 2740, it is matte, and it's almost impossible for a matte display to pop color and contrast the way a glossy one does. But let me assure you this: the 1080p display on my DV8 spoils me from enjoying any other laptop screen. I'm hoping the Envy radiance I was lucky enough to get will at least come close, coz you can't travel with a 9 lb, 18.4" laptop that gets, like an hour on an 8 cell battery.

 

I remember reading on here that there was a chinese holiday coming up that could set us back some time. anyone know when this is and how long it lasts?

It's crazzy that nobody's envy has shipped yet? i ordered mine last wed (i know its only been a week) but no one has had a "yay mine has shipped!" announcement in quite sometime.... I'm so ready to quit using my roommates compaq pos, i'm sure he is too.

 

HP announced feb 1 st for my build date, so I am not worried yet.

We'll see when we get closer to that date.

 

Just tried the $500 off coupon code and HP says it's invalid.

Too bad. I might have actually spring for one at that price.

A regular Envy with exactly the same specs as you. I barely made 1399 for the coupon.
It was a nice PC, but the battery life was too short and the radiance come back was too good to not return it.

 

I had a very similar configuration except I opted for the i5-580 and a SLICE battery. I ordered mine on the 2nd and was delayed until the 25th as well. Must be short on components for the Beats edition laptops.

How many times have they delayed your order? I had already used a $500 coupon for my order, and they gave me an extra $100 off when they pushed it out a second time to the 25th.

Nothing except a 15% off coupon for my next purchase. ill try for a 100$ but maybe i can convince them to get me a slice battery for free because the i7 battery life is low. If not, ill just get over it.

what do you think happens if it is delayed a 3rd time? It was supposed to ship the 20th because of product constraints and i doubt they can fix that within 3 business days. Its making me anxious.

As you can guess Friday came and went with no update or payment charge, so I'm assuming it will be delayed

In retrospect and after lurking here I probably shouldve went with the i5-580. Thought about calling HP tomorrow to see what was up with the delay and upgrade my shipping choice to 2 days.
Question though, if I were to ask them to change my config to the i5 I would probably start back at square one for a ship date right?

Although I don't have any personal experience, from what it sounds like from many different people they would start your order over, or if it was complete you would have to send it back in and reorder once you finally got it. I don't think there is any real easy way to make a change at this point.

 

I've thought about this quite a bit. I imagine they probably provided too many coupons and now they don't have stock of some crucial part to cover all the orders that came in. .

If they delay my order again, I'll probably just ask for another discount. I already have some RAM and an SSD that I plan to swap in as soon as I get the computer, so no use in asking for those. I'm hopeful they'll still be able to fill the order. If they cancel my order, I'd probably ask that they honor the $600 discount they would've given me on a different laptop.

 

its not delayed, same thing happened to me, it will ship tomorrow (monday) because they dont process anything on the weekend and sometimes they get late on Friday's

 

I hate not knowing whats going on. I know its just a computer but i've been looking so forward to this thing. I got my hopes up when i saw the "radiance is back" thread and immediately called and sent mine back. I had been waiting 4 months for phrase to appear. Its devastating to not know if i'm going to get what i think is the perfect laptop for me or if i'll have to settle for something less.... hurry up monday! If mine ships i will be the most grateful person in the world.

My last envy, fedex received notification nov 29th at 4:25 am (U.S. central time) 6:25 p.m. (shanghai) package received after fedex cutoff, then was picked up nov 29 by fedex at 9:11 am (u.s. central) 11:11 pm (shanghai). In transit Nov 30 at 5:59 am (u.s. central) 7:59 pm (shanghai). delivered dec 1 9:55 am (U.S.)

 

Well color me disappointed and slightly annoyed.

Waiting on my Envy 14 which was supposed to ship out Friday the 21st. Called HP this morning and spoke to a representative who was far from helpful. I called to switch my shipping method to 2 day from ground and after stating my laptop would ship out tomorrow (Tuesday) proceeded to tell me I didn't need to bother switching shipping methods because it would "definitely arrive by the end of the week either way". She didn't have any knowledge of any major delays or supply issues.

Fast forward to an hour ago. Got an email from HP apologizing for the delay due to "parts constraints" and stating my new estimated ship date is January 29th.
Ugghhhh
2 minutes later receive an email with a coupon for 15% off my next HP order. Woooo.
I probably wouldn't be annoyed if the rep this morning didn't lead me to believe my laptop would be shipping out tomorrow.
We shall see what happens.

 

Just from experience always ask for a supervisor. Nothing gets done until you deal with them. This really sucks I bet they just said jan 29 to shut you up for a few days. all of our orders will probably be delayed into end of feb.
