Looks like I'm going to have my own little laptop shootout at home. One of these is getting sent back. Envy14 ordered today, DV6tSE is on the way now.

    The two builds:

Image provided per request. so this is how the credit appears on my account. I had previously been promised $70 to not change components and $45 because of the processor price difference. Today I was given $100 bc of 30% BCB. CSR had no note that I was to be issued a $70 or $45 credit. If I dont get the price match credit in a week Ill call back.

Ah, cool. So I should see the same when mine get shipped? I dont think you will get the $70 and $40. They should be able to look it up if its in the system.

I called and got a case number for all the credits. If they cant give it to you, then its not coming.

Thanks for posting that. Makes sense that I wouldn't see mine yet, as my Envy 14 has yet to ship.

If I do get the $305.64, I'll just keep this laptop. Hopefully bing.com with 30% will last another two days, just in case. However every time that I've called the total discount is documented.

Just ordered an Envy 14 w/ 30% BCB before going to work this morning. I'll be getting 700$ back, pretty good deal if you ask me :D. I was on the fence one week ago, still not sure about what to buy, 30% just made me jump the gun :p.

Alright guys.. So I called hp and complained about the BCB thing everyone here is talking about. And since I had ordered with a student discount she said she couldn't do it but offered a free upgrade to a 256 SSD, 8gigs RAM AND 2 day shipping!!!!... JK haha..

But I did get 100 off plus my 10% student and a bumped to 2 day shipping (because i asked) which totaled around 20% off.. And I happy!!

Process was pretty simple (besides being put on hold a while), so I encourage to call and see if you get a price match or something becauce, if your like me, you ordered before you knew about the BCB.

I still see the link via Bing Cashback 30%, but clicking on it gives a 403 Forbidden error, as of 2:09 PM EST!~

Can someone else try the link now, and tell me if it is still working? If it is a problem on my end, I need to fix it!

Yes I got credited for more than 100 (140 exactly). That basically maxed out my total amount of credit back at 200 (60 from complaining about amazon's pricing).

I just called HP, and I will tell you how it went.
So the first thing I said when I got on the phone with the rep was, "hi, i'd like to cancel my envy14 that i ordered"
She was sad to hear it, and asked why. I told her it was because Bing was offering 30% cashback. She told me that there wasn't anything she can do about it and that i already got a good deal from the academic discount. But then i repeated myself by, again, saying that from the bing cashback i can save $400, but then i told her, since i got the student discount i can save about $280. So she talked to her supervisor, and she told me that the supervisor said that any discount or coupons offered by HP will cancel the cashback. And I told her that as i mentioned before, i could save an additional $280 from my initial order. And I told her that i dont want to cancel it because i have summer school soon, and i really need the laptop and asked if there was anything she could offer me. She put me on hold to talk to her supervisor once again, and came back saying that she can give my an additional 10% back from my initial configuration price which was $1115.99 before tax. So basically I got $115 back which is over $100 =] Someone in this forum asked earlier if anyone got more than $100, so there was how i did it. =]

Thank you everyone who contributes to this forum, you guys save me a lot of money =D

I should mention I'm logged into Bing, and if I click the 5% cashback HP Direct link from the "Stores list" I can get ot HP. However, the banner "HP Shopping" ad that comes up, ssaying 30%, clicking upon it will NOT work. It provides a 403 error both on Firefox and internet explorer. I've turned off NoScript and AdBlock on Firefox, and Internet explorer has none of that stuff. Help?

It's advertising. They cycle through a half dozen (or whatever amount) of different ads every time. I'm sure it just pulls a Random HP ad every time someone searches for HP. The 25% HP Bing Cashback programs in the past never showed it in the store list. You had to do a bing search.

Restart your computer... seriously and try again. I got on no problem just now.

Compatability. I used Chrome for a while but ended up not being able to access certain features of certain sites with Chrome. Mainly work and banking sites. Kinda important to me and didn't care to keep switching. I think IE8 is pretty good now.

Yes, it does work with the Envy 14. I have the slim on my current hp notebook, and it lists the Envy line as compatible.

Just be aware that in addition to being "slim", the cords are also shorter than the standard HP adapter.

WOW nice, I'm really surprised another round of big BCB. Thanks HP for making me eat my words, I remember posting here to htwingnut that I doubted it'll go back to 25%, never mind 30. With the 30% why not, just ordered one with no option other than the i5 450m upgrade, which I wouldn't even have bothered for $50 if it weren't for BCB.

Before you order, I highly suggest that you take screen shots of all the Bing screens (the search result, the page that redirects you to HP saying 30% BCB, etc). I've earned nearly $3k in BCB, had maybe 2-3 issues where those saved screen captures made my case and got my BCB which I otherwise probably wouldn't have.

Just received the BCB email, $345 pending. Quite a bargain for <$900 after BCB. This thing better not be stuck at 1.2ghz on battery like the 15 is..

I checked out that thread you linked htwingnut and they seem to think 6GB will support dual channel but on hp's site it says

DISCLAIMER: Dual Channel is supported only when the system is configured with DDR3 symmetric memory (e. g., 2x1024MB).

Im not sure exactly what they mean by that if it just needs to be the same type or size as well meaning 6GB wouldnt support dual channel.

    erg.

so, considering microsoft doesn't offer SSDs in 256gb, what other potential brands could it be? Also, how much of a performance hit would it be from the intel g2 160gb ssd? Anyone with any knowledge here, please speak up. Even if no one knows the brand of the 256gb ssd, does anyone know how much slower a 'regular' ssd would be compared to the intel g2?

Its weird how differently people see and value things...lol. Not only am I NOT canceling and reordering to get the 30% Bing CB, I would have originally gladly paid a 30% premium to have been able to get my new toy without all these delays! :p

And no, I'm not wealthy or anything. I'm just weird, I guess.

Kangu, I've visited my 'order status' page and I don't see the 'credit returned' as you show in your picasa folder. Is that where you are viewing the return amount? Should I call back and check on the issue? I was promised credit back when I called in few days ago. Thank you.

Well, I don't know that I have 100% faith in what HP posts on their website. Most newer machines handle it just fine. But maybe HP didn't implement it.

That's the $20,000 question. Well the $535 question really. HP hasn't come clean. I ordered one because the 30% BCB put it within my budget. If it's not to my liking I'm definitely looking to get a refund and go with a Momentus XT.
