That is close to what I did. I simply asked if it would be easier to get a price match or if I should return the computer and order another one. It took a long time but they were very nice and got me the price match.

A quick question. When you're receiving the cashback from bing, can you send it to someone in which the address/name is different from the registered info?
So the bing account is under my e-mail and password but under my friends address and name in US. Can i get the money without involving my friend?

My friend in US is buying the laptop for me but im in Canada. I wonder if you can wire the money directly into Canadian account. But do they check if the bank account info = bing info? because bank account would be mine and bing would be my friend's.

I would have taken the $200 instant discount vs taking the risk and waiting 60 days for BCB even though it's $160 more, this is coming from a guy who've received nearly $3k in CB since this thing started. I had 2-3 issues where the CB never showed up or got canceled. It was relatively painless contacting Microsoft and send proof (screen captures, must take screen captures when you do BCB), and I've gotten all CB I was eligible for. But it's still a risk - if you get denied after your return period you're at their mercy.

well because of bing i got the same computer i had ordered without it but with the 160gb SSD for just $30 more so it seemed worth it. also to take all the precautions i have screen shots of my order confirmation and also a shot of my bing account saying that i have $461. To add to that i also called HP to make sure that the added discounts they put on there will not void my bing, i talked to a supervisor so its not just some unreliable sales rep. So if in fact i dont get my bing cashback i can call HP out and say i asked about this and you assured me that this would not happen. so i think im pretty secure on my cashback.

    NOOOO.

Fedex doesn't offer hold at location. I don't know anyone in SF, so my best bet is shipping it to my current address and having someone ship it over. That eats into my Bing cashback!!!

Hmmmm, I've tried calling HP Customer Support using the tips suggested, and the max I can get back seems to be around 115. The sales rep I talked to said that after she talked with her supervisor, so I think this is pretty much the end of the line. My best guess as to how some people are getting 200 back is that they didn't configure the laptop initially with the academic discount, which is 10% off.

Hell ya!! i thought i was going to receive my Envy and then have to ship it back and wait 5 days to get my refund, because i reordered with bing cashback.

But to my surprise i just got this in my email:

    Dear Ryan Bailey,

Due to product constraints we will be unable to ship your order on the original estimated ship date. The revised estimated ship date for your order is 7/23/2010 or no later than business days from the original estimated ship date.

LOL my ship date for the laptop i just ordered with bing is 7/22

btw i ordered on 6/29 so this delay would have pissed me off if it was not for the 30% off bing today. Thank you Bing

I like how they can even put 10 in this quote because its 14 days later than my original estimated ship date. "or no later than (seems to be a number missing here) business days from the original estimated ship date"

Man I'm pissed at myself. I meant to apply for a couple credit cards a couple weeks ago and never did. Now with the 30% BCB, I applied and was approved for a couple (Chase Freedom, $100 bonus cash back if spend $800 in 3 months, for example). I don't think I'll receive my card in time to stack it with the HP BCB.

Had I done this a couple weeks ago, I would have received my cards already and been able to get an additional $100 discount from Chase Freedom! Dammit.

i also had the academic discount and was offered $200 but declined because i wanted to get a SSD

Try calling the Resolution Center which is strictly supervisors and will probably offer you more. the # is 888 227 8451 this is the number they told me to call if i changed my mind on declining the $200.

sounds like a load of BS, I've been using CB myself ever since it was started and if you did things right you don't have worry about it. Also what kind of screen would you show them? There is NO trace of bing cashback during checkout with HP.

Do you need the actual physical cards in order to take advantage of the $100 discount? I would think you could just input the card/account number they give you once you sign up.

I just called HP and they said they can only offer me $50 cashback, because they had already offered me $50 before.... So my total for my envy (with the only upgrade being to an i5 450) is... $1,019

However, if I were to return my order and reorder with BCB, my total would be... $890

hmmm decisions decisions.... what would you guys do?

if you already thinking about it then you'll be thinking about it later, so I would personally go through the hassle to save $130 otherwise I would be kicking myself for not getting the best deal later.

I think I'ma call HP now. I only ordered with the HP Academy discount, and nothing else.

So, what number do I call, and what should I ask? Say, "I'm calling about a price match on my Envy 14. There's a Bing Cashback with x%, which would amount to $y in savings if I canceled and re-ordered. Would I be able to get any of my money back?"

x and y with percentages I'm not sure of yet, 5? Or do they do 30? I haven't called them about anything yet.

From what I gather, HP will NOT match 30% cashback/off. Your best bet is to just order through bing and tell them you're cancelling. Personally, I'd rather take $600 to the bank than have the laptop a little quicker.

Sure wish I would get my BCB confirmation email. I've never had to wait for it in the past. I hope it wasn't because I opened another browser and went to HP.com to look at something, but still completed the sale using the browser I opened through bing.com.

So the advent of the 30% cashback deal halted my plans to order it over the weekend and expedited it to just now. Unfortunately, me being overseas, I'm sort of taking a risk with the sleeve, as it's being shipped immediately in all likelihood. But the biggest wrench thrown was when I found out you can't even order online from outside the US. I had to contact a friend in the US to place my order for me. Hope it worked. If all goes well, I'm recieving around ~$375 back.

Alright, I called back HP a few hours ago and accepted the $100 bribe to keep my order. I've also gotten the 10% hpa discount, $90 refund from windows 7 pro and $24.24 for the processor. Would it be a total of me to try to get the extra 10% back that you guys could get by pushing it? The $90 was a refund credit, so my account only shows up as getting $124.24 back. Is there any hope I might be able to get the extra 10% discount still?

I would defiantly call them (ask to talk to a supervisor right away and explain your situation, telling the same old crap to the low end sales reps don't accomplish anything if your looking in the market north of $100) and ask them again if they can give you $200, just say it saves money and time on both ends, HP doesn't have to pay for the shipping, they don't have to restock the comp and pay people to process the returns, you need to back your argument with how it benefits them as well and if they don't budge at that point then pull out the cancel card and go with bing.

they cover shipping and it calculates it before tax and shipping.

Good news, Chase is sending my Freedom card via UPS. It should arrive in 1-2 days, so hopefully the 30% BCB will still be around and I will probably order this beast.

For anyone interested in a new credit card, Chase Freedom offers $100 additional cash back if you make purchases >$799 in the first 3 months. This is in addition to the standard 1% cashback on all purchases and 5% on rotating categories.

So, after all is done I should be able to get an i5-450, 500GB for ~$850 after 30% BCB, $100 Chase Freedom cash back, and CA taxes.

I asked them what was so backed up and they said the i5 520m processors... but Magus said that his had shipped and he has the same one and I ordered mine at 12:01 when it was released...

I called the number you suggested and am very happy to report that it worked! They gave me the $200 discount, so if anyone has ordered from HP before the BCB and wants to get the maximum credit possible from HP, I highly recommend this number.

ooo i dont know, i would not have done that. remember you have 24 hour to cancel your order with out it getting processed, after it gets processed its a lot harder to get it canceled and might be on its way to production. i got my email with in the first 5 min so i might go the safe route and cancel and re do it.

You should be able to get at least $100. I called the number that's on the front of hp's home site.

search hp direct on bing.com not through bing.com/cashback, also if you have adblocker on it will not have the cashback link showing so use a browser without it or disable it.
