*Quasi-Official ENVY 14 discounts, delays, "mine is shipping" lounge*

Ive been waiting so long for that discount which is the worst part.

 

Are you guys sure it is safe to get credit from HP and get BCB at the same time? I don't want to get credit and end up voiding my BCB. D:

 

A supervisor said it won't interfere but I don't trust them.

 

I've never heard of someone getting their BCB voided because of HP credit if that's any help. The general consensus is you get voided only if you try to combine BCB with some other coupon or discount.

 

Hey guys, been lurking this and the Envy 14 threads for a couple of weeks now.

Needless to say, I got the all-clear from my parents to get the laptop w/ 30% BCB... only to find out it's down to 5%.

Man, i'm sorry guys... I managed to get the discount, but now the problem is that i've got over 4 grand tied up in two envy14s with no computer to boot! I sure hope the return policy goes over alright. Maybe I won't even open up the 1st one when it gets here, but man, it'll tempt me soooo much....

Yeah, I so want to, but my parents don't trust it (i know it's a bit silly) and I almost feel bad for HP giving them a lot of crap. I mean, why can't we just be content consumers? (then again, why can't they just deliver what they promised?) Eh, anyway, do you think it will be any easier on HP if I don't open it? or do they have to take the computer apart anyway?

 

Man HP will open it anyways to verify you didn't steal it and put a brick in there or something.. lol And... they pay for slave labor pretty much... haha and... they always accept full refunds even if you open it and use it. Believe me I've done it before.

 

I have called them twice about the matter and talked to supervisors twice and they said that it would not void or affect bing. But both times i only took their word for it so i called again and asked them to send me an email so i have something in writing and not just he said, she said. they said that i would recieve an email with in 24 hours and when i do get it i will post it. the thing that worries me is that i emailed bing the same question and they responded that it would void but the response was a quote from the guide lines and not a human thought out response. i currently have $200 in extra credit from HP on top of the bing 30% so i really hope that it goes through but im skeptical. However if i get it in writing and bing declines it 45 days later im going to give HP hell until they send me a check for $467.

also people have posted screen shots of their credits back and it appears that they are listed as separate orders and don't conflict with your actual order in the fact that they don't discount the computer they just send money to you, so i got my fingers crossed.

 

i think i'll get banned for swearing my head off for missing the 30% bcb...

You can open it and still get a full refund, but I'd personally just return it first thing.

 

Yeah doing the math took some time...but we were dumb to have even done it. 30% is a lot of money, regardless.....which is why I'm so upset I missed it.

Will there be another 30% BCB? Doubt it, 10% most likely.

So here's another question:

I bought a 2nd envy14 with BCB today and am planning on returning my 1st. Now I happened to get credit back to my CC from doo-dads and whatnot since it shipped today, so when I return it, do I get the full amount back? or less to un-compensate for the credit they gave me from complaining etc?

 

What are some comparable laptops?
I may end up canceling because im fed up with HP lol

Honestly, HP has made these delays worth my while. My laptop is getting less expensive by the day.

Hey guys, don't fret if you missed the BCB discount; you can still call and talk with HP about how you feel you deserve a discount. I spent around $1300 on my Envy 14 and just now got off the phone with HP and got a $150 credit (after getting close to canceling my order).

Sounds like HP can give you either $100, $150, or $200 back in this situation... but they don't want to give you back more than 10% of your order. In my case they tried to give me $100 but I talked them up to $150. For those of you that spent over $2000 I bet you can get $200 no problem, so long as you talk in circles long enough ("is there someone else I can talk to about this?").

Sure 30% off would have been great, but I'm happy with my 12% off (in addition to my student discount)!

 

lol yea, HP's going to let you profit hundreds of dollars from buying a laptop, complaining, and then returning it. They would be a failing company if they allowed that to happen.

So whats the general consensus? Can you use Student Discount + BCB + Discover CB and have them all go through?

I'm asking just in case Bing has another CB event like this, I want to be ready. I'd settle for 25% BCB + 5% Discover CB if I have to, but I REALLY hope they have another one before July 31st. Do you guys think its likely? 30% again soon?

 

As people have stated many times, you CANNOT stack student and Bing. Discover can be stacked with either, but you cannot combine the first two.

 

Student + Discover or BCB + Discover ONLY. NOT Student + BCB + Discover

 

Well, it's all in how you sell it I suppose. Some pointers:

The initial rep can't do much... at best he'll give you the 5% BCB. Tell them you want to cancel your order and they'll transfer you to the right department. Explain the situation (just ordered, heard about 30% BCB a day later [and have a screenshot], want comparable discount). They'll say Bing discounts come and go, best you can get is 5%. This is where you tell them that'd ideally you'd keep your order but have decided to cancel since they can't offer some sort of discount in light of this situation. You need to be ready and willing to pull the trigger and cancel your order.

This is where they'll offer you at least $100. If it really seems like they won't, try to talk to someone else.

I dunno, I'd be surprised if you can get something out of them, so long as your Envy 14 order was sometime around when the BCB thing went down.

 

Shouldn't matter. The 21 days return policy is "no questions asked". As long as you don't spill water on it or run it over with your car

 

I ordered the 520m and the 320GB HDD. Ship date was today. No updates or delays yet, but also no shipment notification.

 

seriously, i've had trouble finding similar computers. The e14 fits so perfectly into a niche market. slightly larger than those 13 inchers, but still more powerful than many 15 in ones. IMO it doesn't compare well to the m11x which is more of a netbook competitor, or the m15x, which is more of a desktop replacement being 2" thick and all (then again, the e14 is def powerful enough to be a desktop replacement too with those i7s)

It's pretty hard to find a computer that's very similar. Usually they're either smaller and much weaker (with the exception of the sony z) or a much larger computer (around 15.4-15.6 inches and about 1.5 in thick)

I would say actually, that it's more of a MacBook Pro (13" or 15") competitor, esp. as the 15" is much thinner than almost all other 15" out there

 

So how exactly do you combine BCB and Discover CB? Just wondering for possible future reference?

And by how I mean, log in to Discovercard.com get to 5% HP--->then log into bing for BCB (in a new tab)...then??

 

Making rules for the OFFICIAL lounge will just make this one what the official one was. Guess I'll have to update my bookmark to this page

hp called my number to confirm my order (for whatever reason, security?). i hope that doesn't affect the bcb

 

Looks like my envy has arrived in Memphis, TN.. shipping to MD. Scheduled delivery date is the 15th. Hey, at least it's in the states now!

 

So I logged in while BCB was 30% and took my time deciding on what config I wanted, and by the time I ordered I took a screenshot of my order+BCB site showing 30%, but I only got 5% back. I opened a service request but chances are they won't compensate me for the missing 25%. Anyone had any experiences like this and have any advice?

I already have one thats currently in Memphis on its way here so if I missed the 30% its not a huge deal.

 

If that's how you get the discover CB, I don't think it will work. I believe BCB will work with a cash back that relies on how much you spend, i.e. use the card and get x% back at supermarkets and x% elsewhere, or relies on the point system, i.e. for every $1 you spend, you get 1 point.

 

So I called and got an additional $100 of my first Envy 14 order. I wanted to take a survey and give the rep a good review, but she never transferred me...?

So now I have 2 Envy 14s shipping to me. Yay.

 

Funny....that happened to me once. And the rep gave me the $115 credit back to my account too =/

 

All in all, I got about 28% "cashback" into my credit card from all of the credits given to me and the student discount by HP...totaling to $341. I'm glad I didn't cancel my order for the 30% BCB because 2% isn't worth another 2-3 week wait for the Envy =D

 

My condolences. I thought I was in the same boat but for some reason I was just notified that mine is arriving on friday.

Do you have the funds to purchase a different laptop and then return it once your Envy 14 arrives?
