    Well, the Envy 14-1050CA was also delayed from a July 5th release to July 12th release... so it'll be interesting to see if it all happens on July 12th now.

    Edit: I'm on the phone with HP and the tech said they haven't even started configuring the E14s yet... I was like o_O Asked how long it will be. Deliveries should start end of next week.

    yeah I have a backpack for the laptop so I don't feel like getting the sleeve.


    guess I'm gonna call back and ask them to credit me $25 for the coupon and however much they wanna give me for the processor price change (22.50 probably but eh. fine by me)

    I registered just to say the music is pretty awesome. Also, anyone else holding off on spending our precious $25 coupon until they release the slice on their website? I really hope it appears before the 31st.

    Anyone think there's a chance they ran out of 430 chips and would be willing to give me one with a 450? ;] This question is definitely rhetorical but hey, a boy can dream.

    Just spoke with an HP rep. He told me that we are all getting a free upgrade to two day shipping to make up for the delay.

    edit: how did you guys get them to give you the $25 refund back onto your card? they wouldn't agree to do it for me :(

    What the hell? I started reading back a few pages and saw that some people who ordered on the 27th got an email saying shipment was delayed.

    I ordered on the 28th and haven't gotten it yet...it was supposed to ship today. Has anyone who ordered the 28th gotten said email?

    Well let's say they shoved my order to the back of the line. They could look at their precious 430's dwindling away and say, "man. we're going to have one disappointed customer when we tell him we ran out of chips. i hope he doesn't mind a 450 chip." Considering they haven't built them yet, seems entirely plausible. ;]

    Now if you excuse me, I'll be in my own fantasy bubble where good things happen all the time.

    This was to be expected people. The same thing happened a month and a hlaf ago, they can't change the manufacturing process that quickly.
    Plus it's a rare instance: both releases saw heavy demand and they couldn't keep up. I don't want to be pessimistic but im expecting worse delays than for the 17, because more people are probably gonna buy it.
    That said, I leave the US on the 15 and after the 21 I don't even have someone to pick it up for me. So if they don't ship out on the 12 I'm thorougly ***

    Just got the email of death as well.

    As far the mystery backordered component, I'm going to rule out the CPU (840QM) and 256 SSD as those are components very few people ordered.

    More than likely its the GPU since that is standard on ALL laptop models.

    I am planning on ordering it really soon so I can get it picked up in the states before the first week of august, so I have a question:

    If I order the laptop to florida, and I bring it to Canada, will the warranty work IN Canada, as in will HP fix my laptop up here in Canada?

    I complained to my rep and said that I don't really mind a one day delay in shipping, but 10 business days is basically a two week delay. In that period of time, I could easily walk over to a store and buy an equivalent computer. He went from being like "oh, we can't give you any refund" to suddenly telling me that he could give me a $50 refund once my laptop ships.

    I know that there are some people in this thread who think that this kind of behavior is cheap, but I think it's fair given that HP emailed me the day after my laptop was supposed to ship, telling me there would be anywhere from a 1-14 delay. And I ordered the thing the day it became available on the site.

    I asked the rep if I could upgrade to 2 day shipping, but she said she couldn't do it =/ Since I have already gotten $125 ($150 with the coupon) off on this laptop I am not going to badger them anymore
