I'm pretty sure "dropped to factory" basically means "Ordered, verified, we've got your money, your order is finalized and can't be changed"

The order went through and Bing cashback showed up as 5%. I'm submitting a support request with Bing. If they can't adjust the amount to 30%, I'm definitely canceling this order. Argh. Why can't this be an easy process?

Wow, that sucks :( If you've got a spare moment, would you mind going to your order status page on HP.com and copy/paste/post your order time? I'd like to compare it to mine; if mine was after yours then we're definitely in the same boat :(

I tried but dont like this tracking site. All is says under description is "package status". thats it, no other info.

At least the fedex site says package pickup, and at local fedex site, etc.

Give it at least 3 business days (up to 5) for the transaction to clear and be posted on your online statement. If it doesn't show up call HP and give them the Reference Number you should have gotten when you called.

And although I got the confirmation email from HP, I didn't get anything from Bing. No confirmation email, and nothing listed in my Cashback account on the site.

I opened a support request with Bing... thankfully, I kept the screencaps of both the 30% off listing on the Bing.com/Shopping page, and the 30% off mention in the pop-up window. I'm hoping that's enough to get them to honor the deal. Otherwise, I'm going to be stuck sending the laptop back to HP.

"Order dropped to factory" means that they received your order in the factory. Think of it as a waiter (the thing you ordered from) taking your order to the chef.

Im sure my analogy was unnecessary, but thats what it means lol.

Absolutely. I was obsessively checking the pop-up during the buy process and it never once said anything but 30%, so I'm going to argue as much as I can. I mean, worst-case scenario I pay the price I was originally comfortable with, but I'd really like to have that Slice and lower overall price....

They didn't give me a reference number either. They said everything is written under the order, and that all you need is to tell them the order number.

They told me 3-5 days after the ship date of the laptop I'll get the credit.

So I ordered my envy with the 30% cash back. It shows up in my Bing account as correct. The order says pending...what does that mean? I have yet to get an email form HP saying anything about my order...is this normal.

Total amount. For me was 1500 because of the two year warranty...was the warranty worth it?

Last question and this is what I am worried about....I used bill me later and now thinking about it I don't know know how MS will get me the cash back because I didn't use a CC. Am I screwed?

With the screenshots I don't see us losing, its not like we waited a day to order it, it changed while we were shopping. But I agree, my ctrl and r keys are going to get quite the work out in the next 48 hours.

I didn't bother taking a screenshot because I figure...SS's can be -easily- faked and aren't really easily tied to one specific person/instance. I'm just going to give them my order timestamp and demand they tell me exactly when the 30% ended, then go from there. I think we have a decent shot at this though; with the program ending they probably have a pile of money just sitting there not being used, and I wouldn't be surprised if a manager tossed some our way just to get us to shut up. Hell, if one of us is -really- lucky we'll be talking with someone whose job will be disappearing when BCB does, so they won't have anything to lose.

...yes, I realize how dark and selfish that last sentence was. Lemons to lemonade and all that though, right?

With all BCB, you must wait 60days before they give you your money back. Pending just means you're in the 60 period. (To make sure you don't take the money, return the product, and keep the cash back)

I personally don't think the warranty was worth it. In my experience, if anything is going to fail, it will most likely happen within the first year which is covered by the base warranty.

Could go the other way too seeing as they don't have much to lose with the program ending at the close of the month.

    Guys:

Thoughts on whether to go with the i5-450m vs i5-520m?

I went with the i5-450m but am thinking it would have better smarter for me to go with the 520m because I want to try and run an OS on top of Windows 7 (a DJ program that I like works better)

Please let me know your thoughts about the CPU. If I alter my order with HP, will my 30% BCB update automatically as well?

    Thanks

Man, I missed out yesterday when it changed to 5% just as I was getting ready to place my order. LIke my wife told me, you snooze, you lose. So I check this morning and 30% was back again. I jumped right on it and ordered, then went to Denny's for breakfast. Came back and CB was back to 5%. Looks like I got lucky this time. On my order, I only upgraded to the i5-450, everything else is base, and ordered the Premium Link sleeve also. My 30% CB shows as pending, and I have my confirmation emails from HP. No snoozing for me this time.

I've got a question about what I should do...

In the first laptop order I made, I also ordered a monitor. I got $90 credited to this monitor for the windows 7 pro student deal thing. I just ordered a new laptop this morning with the 30% BCB, so I plan on returning the first laptop. I'm keeping the monitor though, since I basically got a better deal on it the first go-round.

HP reps can't see that the $90 was given to me for the computer itself since it's applied to the monitor. This was I was able to get >$200 credit. So, when I return the computer, I'll still have the $90 credit on the monitor.

Should I call up about this? I feel kind of bad about the scenario and feel that I should bring it to their attention, but then, I guess they would catch it if they wanted to...

Now that I've been screwed twice because I'm outside the country I think I would like to know if there is anyway to fool HP to think I'm ordering from the US?
I use Tor but I only know how to "change my identity" using it. It just gives me the location with the next best connection which always happens to be Germany for some reason. How can I choose my location? or is there some other software?...

Right I am rethink my choice. Is it possible to call and get the warrant returned. Would that mess up my cash back? It seems in both bill me later and cash back thy came up as different items..the laptop and then warranty. Would it mess up my cash back?

Just got the e-mail that my e14 is delayed, estimated ship date went from 7/12 to 7/23 . I like how the online order status page still lists 7/12; is it too much to expect that a company that makes a good amount of cash doing large scale corporate systems integration be able to keep their own retail/manufacturing systems in sync? it's one thing to get stuck with production delays due to a sudden parts shortage but to not be able to keep your customer notification and online customer portals in sync is a bit absurd.

hopefully it's a short delay like yours was, I'm getting tired of lugging my 17" Gateway around all week when I'm on-call for work; need something more portable! just not very inspired by HPs manufacturing process right now, how can you only ship a small handful of machines a few weeks after the thing goes on sale? it's not like there's 1000 customization options, they really should have had a stack of each of the expected most popular configs ready to roll. or maybe they did and they're just horrible at estimating what a "popular config" will be

man I was pretty sad yesterday when for the first time in weeks I didn't check this forum until late pm... and realized I missed out on 30% bcb.

Today the first thing I did when I woke up was go on my evo to bing and check bcb... as soon as I saw 30% I fired up my laptop and ordered. The only the I changed from my original order was the 256gb ssd that I was really craving. No further upgrades needed for this beast of a gadget. Can't wait for my $522 back either : ) Not everyday you make $522 just for waking up early.

And got the hp and bcb emails fairly quickly, ordered @ 8:50am PDT.
