Seriously, I hopped on my machine four times between 6:00am PDT and 9:00am PDT and still somehow missed the BCB at 30%. *kicks self in head*

I have a feeling that I'm just not ever going to get that deal

 

I was in the same boat didn't check the thread carefully for one day. I wasn't really expecting another chance at a good BCB %age.

I caught the very rear end of today's 30%, it still showed 30 when I started the order, but didn't by the time it was complete. I'm going to fight to see if I can get them to honor it. Maybe they'll just have 30% again tomorrow morning and I can just cancel and reorder AGAIN.

 

For the first time ever, I have an incentive to wake up early!

 

If I change my order (eg - upgrade CPU and/or hard drive), will my BCB update automatically to the new amount or will I lose it? Example: if my laptop was originally $1500 - $450 BCB = $1050 and now I call up and change configuration so it is $1600... will my BCB then update to $480?

Another question I had: is the 640GB hard drive 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm? My order as it stands has the 640GB.... as much as I want an SSD, theyre too much for me.

I think Bing will update based on how much you pay. So if you get a discount, your BCB will decrease. It may also be if you pay more later on, you will get more from BCB. But you should really ask Bing.

The 640gb hdd is 5400rpm.

 

If it hasn't been "dropped to factory" in the status, then it should be fine. If you ordered today, just call as soon as possible to try to make a change. You have to ask HP about the Bing Cashback because I really don't know if it'll update.

I would recommend getting the 500GB 7200RPM instead of the 640GB 5400RPM. That speed is just so slow.

 

Would you get the i5-450m or 520m?

Well, the one I ordered today to take advantage of the 30% BCB now says "Item processing (Estimated to ship on July 23, 2010)" but I'm still showing zilch on my BCB account I hate this game.

 

I have no idea how they are doing that. I've only heard people getting back that amount due to HP refusing to give BCB equivalent amount but going up to $200. Also shipping delays will also increase the price as will cancellation threats. I had HP offer me a $50 credit to my account when I wanted to try to cancel my first Envy 14.

I'm getting the i5-450m. There's no need for me to get the i5-520m. It was $100 extra to go to the SSD, which is a MUCH better deal.

 

I just wish I could get a larger SSD at cheap price. Can I add the SSD to my laptop after-market once the prices come down?

 

My ship date seems to change to 22 from 23. I wonder how accurate their tracking.

Yes, all three of the credits they promised me have credited following my Envy shipping. I payed with CC through Paypal. if that makes any difference.

So is the key to wait till the in production date passes to then call and nag for discounts, this way it costs them less to just credit you instead of canceling the order?

Yes, you need to wait until its "in production", otherwise, they can just change it, or ask you to reorder (as was your experience).

 

Heres good news to all those who got a "delayed till the 23rd" email: Mine shipped out today. i5-520 and 320gb hdd

 

I ordered on July 1st, and my estimated ship date was the 13th, and it shipped on the 12th. Now its expected to arrive on the 16th by 4:30pm =]

 

I was promised $200 when it ships and it shipped today but nothing is showing up. It better show up.

On another, this whole complaining about Windows 7 pro upgrade is absolutely ridiculous to me, just buy it for $30 from microsoft and quit complaining to HP! Why should they price match it when you can just buy it yourself?

 

heh. My estimated ship date was the 7th and I ordered on the 27th.

EDIT: Found it. Not everyone is a student. I guess some people are telling the CSRs they are students and getting a discount that way. All they need to do is get BCB, tell CSRs they're students but they didn't use HPA because they didn't want to void BCB, but they want the Windows discount still.

 

I want to order when I get home from work and it keeps dropping back down to 5%. Any estimates at times that it i up?

I ordered min last night and its dropped at factory today I don't know if that's good, but they might be happy with me because I'm not always calling and nagging about the price. I don't really like to bug the people dealing with out purchases. If you them off long enough, they can easily delay your order.

I also got 2 day shipping, so maybe they think I need it ON TIME (which I do).

PS. I said yesterday that HP told me that bing will be changing their price early this morning, and I guess they were right.

Was today's 30% a glitch? It seems like it was a runover ad from yesterday. Though it went away yesterday, and came back this morning.

Hopefully we've got one more day. I'm not missing this a 3rd time!

It's not really good or bad - it just means that the specifications of what you want built has been received by the factory. They haven't started building it yet (it will change to "in production" soon enough when that process begins). It has no bearing on whether or not the order might be delayed, when it will be complete, etc.

It's like when you place an order at the drive through at McDonald's - it goes up on the screen for the kitchen worker to assemble. When you order a big mac and it's up on the screen, your big mac could still take 1 minute or 10 minutes to make it out the window to you.

 

Keep us updated on that $200 credit. They promised me one also so I hope they honor them.

I think it was around 11:00 Est. I checked several times. So I think Bing goes by PST, so it was around 8:00AM, which makes sense

 

Finally got my shipping notice yesterday. Picked up by FedEx but still loafing around in Shanghai at the moment. ETA is Friday by 4:30PM. Oh boy, if I can pick that up after work no one's going to see me for days...

 

In that case, I'll be waking up at 7am everyday until the 31st just to make sure I'm around when the party starts again. I'm going to see whether I can snap up an HP skin/case.

That's not true my laptop was delayed 2days and it shipped standard 5-7 days

 

It will be deposited into your Bing account and then you can transfer it to a Paypal/bank account or request a check

 

They will ship you a bag of pennies

Seriously, you can just transfer to bank, request a check or deposit to PayPal

 

Does that include a canadian account? would be ALOT easier if it does
