I have a dilemma. When I went to get the 30% BCB I screwed up. It seems I created another account with another live id. Come to find out this is against Microsofts agreement (terms, whatever) to have multiple accounts. My first BCB account I've only earned like $25 on, and has $1.20 pending. But in my new account I've got $544 pending from my Envy 14 purchase.

Should I contact Bing Cashback support and plead my case? It was an honest mistake, but I'm afraid it's too easy for them to compare names and addresses and can likely cancel my cashback in two months.

After harping about using other discount services, I completely missed the part about multiple accounts... until now.

 

For some it's more about pushing it/getting over than the extra few % saved. Even though it *should* be safe to use, I refrained from using that $25 coupon HP gave me when my tm2t was delayed (I canceled it).

Last year I bought the HP MediaSmart WHS server, I used EPP and a coupon and still got my 25% BCB. I think right after that was when they specifically added the no EPP and no coupons rule.

That's the thing there's no way to change the name...

 

If I were you, I'd leave it alone until something happens.. BCB is winding down, as long as HP does not report your order having violated terms (as in no coupon applied which you didn't), I don't see MS will bother going through each account with a fine comb.

If I was in your situation, I would hope that the Envy 14 doesn't ship until ~40 days from now. That way if the BCB gets canceled you're still within your returned period.

 

Hmm, I guess you can. I just changed my last name to my mom's remarried name and zip code to her location, and birth year to being two year younger, lol. Think that would be enough?

well i called HP and i am pissed off right now, apparently since i was logged into my account which has the student discount when i did bing, it has been recorded on the order that i recieved a student discount even though i did not get 10% off the order. i told them that if you go to HP and configure the same order that its the exact same price that i payed and that there is not 10% off but she said that it shows up that i got a student discount and that most likely my bing cashback will not go through. god damnit the only reason i signed in was because it didn't show up on the computer as a 10% discount and i didnt want to put in my billing address.

 

2.0 would it be possible to get on the list as well?

I work during the week and have a hard time checking bing and the forums while at work.. I live in Denver and checked at 7:30 before going to work and didn't see it. Can't believe I missed it again

From the way your first post sounded I thought you may have been one of us who ordered at the last minute and are kind of in limbo as to if the 30% or the 5% applied.

 

Hmm this is concerning for me. I have an account with HP, which is linked to a student discount. So, I have to create a new account to order an Envy with BCB without having the APP discount show up? Or can I log in with my existing account and somehow void the APP?

 

you can void the APP by calling HP and getting them to get rid of it for you.

I was told it couldn't be reversed. Once a student, always a student since alumnus are also eligible.

 

believe me i tried to get them to change it so it would not show up that i got a student discount because i didnt, but she said nobody has the power to over right the system.

I'm having clearance delay issues in anchorage, alaska... which is strange since I live in georgia and fedex still says that I should get my laptop on the 15th at 10:30am est

 

So what to do then? Open a new account with another email address?

 

Considering the program is on its way out, they would probably be looking for ways NOT to pay out. So rather than taking any risks, I would delete the account with the $25 & $1.20 pending. If that's possible. Screen capture your delete confirmation.

This way if you need to plead your case later on, at least you can say that you made an honest mistake, then happened read the terms and acted swiftly to comply with said terms by deleting an account at the expense of losing some BCB due you. That'll make you look like honest Abe for sure and will go a long way with a supervisor in case you have to escalate.

I changed the email address associated with my hp student account to a different one than my MS live account. Then created another hp account using my ms live email and I no longer show up as eligible for student discounts when I log in.

yes i was arguing that i didn't receive a 10% discount for 30 min with one, emailed bing just a sec ago pleading my case.

 

if all else fails i still got my first comp that i ordered before bing and was going to send back, got $200 off that and 10% student. too bad because i really wanted that SSD that i could finally afford with bing.

Thanks. I just got done with a discussion with Cin' and she pointed me to another post at the Bing Cashback forums with a similar issue and basically they said to contact CSR's to fix the issue. They're just looking to prevent people from getting multiple thousands of dollars back (i.e. over the $2500). My $25 hardly cuts it, lol.
