Good luck. Hope it works out. Everything I've read that has been successful has been through eBay. I'm sure a lot of it is up to the e-tailer. Ask HP if it's allowed. I'm sure they'll say no, if they say yes well then no worry. HP is the one that has to transmit the sale info to the participating ebates sites. It may slip through the cracks, I hope it does. Your choice, your money, your prerogative. I'm just saying personally, I won't risk it because I won't want to lose my big fat $544 check, although I might have botched it by creating a second BCB account accidentally.

    From Bing Terms and Conditions:
You will not earn cashback savings on purchases where (a) you close your browser or open the store's web site in a different web browser or tab; (b) you click away from the store after clicking on an eligible advertisement; (c) your browser is not configured to accept cookies; (d) the purchase is not completed in the same web browsing session in which you click on the eligible advertisement or listing; (e) the order is later cancelled or the goods or services are later returned; (f) the store does not report the purchase to us; (g) the goods or services are acquired for resale or other business purposes; (h) you use a separate discount or coupon with your order; (i) you exceed the annual monetary cap on cashback savings; (j) you purchase gift cards or gift certificates; or (k) you make a purchase from yourself or from entities that you control or otherwise in collusion with other people.

    Definition of "Discount":

Definitions of discount on the Web:

the act of reducing the selling price of merchandise
discount rate: interest on an annual basis deducted in advance on a loan
dismiss: bar from attention or consideration; "She dismissed his advances"
rebate: a refund of some fraction of the amount paid
(provided by WordNet Search - 3.0)

Funny: "discount" and "rebate" are synonyms

Wheee, I ordered my Envy 14. It will blow my old laptop out of the water, which I will give to my parents. On a side note is there a link or info for external hdd? I opted for an ssd so I need a little added space for some files. I have a couple flash drives that I run my work and homework on, but I need something for larger media files, backups, etc. Thanks.

Any external HDD will be fine. I personally prefer the WD Passport drives. Small, sleek, elegant, and powered by a single USB cable. Most are these days, but they seem to be the most popular. If you need more than 500GB though better go with a larger 3.5" unit if you don't need to port it around with you.

I'm in California, and my laptop went from Shanghai directly to Memphis. Now it's stuck in a "Clearance Delay" in Memphis.

If every statutes' provisions and Supreme Court decisions were so clear cut and explicit to the point of being bereft of ambiguity and completely exercised without a shadow of a doubt, there wouldn't be a need for lawyers and thus a need for layers upon layers of regulations that govern everyday life. So you copied/pasted definitions to words that most if not all of us already knew the definitions to even as callow teenagers. Great. But really...you just wasted your time.

If you think otherwise, add another word to look up. It's spelled l-o-o-p-h-o-l-e. Read back a few pages. From what I've seen since BCB was first launched since 2008, Microsoft Bing's employees don't have any way of verifying whether you've combined cashbacks. In the case with HP, Bing CSRs simply look check the sale price and any instant discounts that may have been applied. Though I prefer making cheap appeals to ignorance, my 2-year track record with BCB has only proven that the system doesn't go much further beyond that point. It's practically blind! The fact that their system is still cruddier than a compost pile at detecting whether or not you were signed in when you made a purchase perhaps only emphasizes this point further.

Question: If I call in to ask for the $30 price match on Win7 Pro, will they change my account to academic, thus voiding my BCB?

2.0, you should start charging for these BCB "subscribers".

I reallyyyyyy want to know whether I can call in and get the 10% off academic discount and still get my BCB

It needs to come with me, so 2.5" is what I'll be looking for. I have a feeling this semester I'll be going around like a chicken with my head cut off, since I'll acclimating to a new college as a transfer student. I'm getting pumped.

I opted to not mess around with all this BCB and Academic Stuff. After missing the BCB for the 2nd or 3rd time now, I went for the Academic Discount and to try for Fatwallet Cashback. The shipping delays raised some concern as well. Classes do not start until the end of August, but I'd like some time to get familiar with the machine and 'sanitize' it. I can't complain if I don't get the cash back: 10% off is better than nothing. If I get the Cashback, I'll garner around 13% off, or basically offset the sales tax.

I hope this sucker lasts. On paper it looks great, but we'll see.

When did you order? Did it just ship today

I'm going to start compiling a personal list of shipping times.

EDIT: I'm kind of concerned mine may not ship on time. I'd rather avoid a shipping diversion phone convo with HP CSRs.

Yesterday it was "In transit" in China, but just sitting in the fed ex factory
now the shipment travel history has been updated to say in transit as well
I think mines is on the same flight as the others, because my eta is 16th @ 4:30

I ordered on the 12th, and the estimated ship date is supposed to be on the 22nd, which makes for a 10-day build time. It looks like your revised ship made it a 10-day build period. I really hope I don't get any delays. If I do get one after it's been built and find that HP can't reroute my order destination, I'll have to nicely ask HP to compensate me for shipping charges.

tried twice to get the HPA off my account just to be safe with bing and HP CSR said they already did..however I still see HPA on my account. If we deleted our account and create a new one, does the order that I have under that account will have issue?say got deleted or anything?

A little annoyed at HP and I think i'm going to call and get my shipping refunded. I paid for the 2 day shipping and mine shipped on Monday the 12th. By all logic 2 day shipping means I should be getting it on the 15th, however my Fedex page says it's in transit from China and my expected delivery date is the 16th. The 16th is clearly not 2 days from it's ship date. :(

Hi all! I have been following this the "official owners" envy 14 thread sense it was in the single digits. I am set on an Envy 14 but my budget is a little tight so I have been waiting for either bcb or a coupon. Finally the 30% off came and I was ordering it but then (like an idiot) decided I had to figure out how to remove my student discount, instead of just creating a new account. When I finally got it removed it was already back down to 5%. then I missed it again yesterday morning because I work. I do have an iPhone but I can't keep checking bing every 5 seconds.

So my plea is this: if someone, anyone, sees bing go back up can they please pm (or email) me. I would really appreciate it! Thanks!

    This forum is great!

Same problem for me, except mine is on clearance delay in Memphis, TN. I still have the original 7/15 estimated date, and it's still actually possible- as long as it ships out by tomorrow morning. But I am starting to doubt it.

aclbosox, give them a call and let us know what they say :) HP told me that US Customs did not get the paperwork they sent.

Alright, I'm done stressing about this laptop/shipping/discounts/BCB. I'm on the phone with HP right now cancelling the second order I made in a failed attempt to get the 30% BCB and then I'm going to stop reading this forum until my E14 gets here. All this talk of discounts and BCB is too much stress for me; I'm psyching myself out way too much :p

    *edit*

How's this for a kick in the nuts? After all the attempts I've made to get any discount whatsoever, they just offered me 150$ to not cancel the second order  Wish I could have that transferred to my other order...

Cancel your second order, but call back again and talk to someone different. If you give them a good enough reason for why you're canceling, they should offer you a credit again on the first one. At least that's what happened in my experience.

I think two day shipping means: two days once it is in the US. Don't worry you will eventually get it in a couple of days. :) I would be amazed it they could do two days from China to the US plus customs then to you house. . . I wish.

I would if it weren't already on a plane from Shanghi :) Honestly I'm happy with what I paid for the system the first time; the 2nd order was just a shot at getting a nice BCB deal.

So, yeah, in an attempt to stave off any further buyers remorse or ideas for wacky money-saving schemes, I'm going to take a break from this forum until my E14 arrives. Hope to talk to you all soon :)

Fair enough. I've realized that expecting HP to have my notebook built and delivered to my door all within 3 weeks might not be realistic considering the myriad of obstacles that could crop up along the way.

So to revise my earlier statement, in the event I get a big delay, I'll be satisfied as long as HP is willing to either change my shipping destination or compensate me for having to pay someone to ship the notebook from my initial address to my new address. I'll definitely haggle for at least $100 to cover the usual shipping, insurance, and taxes.

EDIT: I guess that's where I draw the line in terms of using HP's generosity to get concessions.

I don't think a three week time frame is unrealistic if HP says they can do it. I think people would not be as bothered if HP actually gave us more information about what was happening. I thought their handling of the initial delay was pretty good, but I wish they would have actually told us what the hold up was about.

But now my package has been stuck in customs, and obviously someone in HP is aware of this and is working on it. Why not tell people whose laptops are stuck in customs "hey, paperwork snafu, could take up to three days to clear." ?

Good to hear. So it was mostly the early buyers that got hit with the huge shipping delays, eh? Makes sense. It's often the handful of parts suppliers who lag and thus end up being bottlenecks for those downstream the supply chain. But by now, HP will probably have ironed out those kinks.

But still...the e-mail DID say they'd have it built by the 22nd. That means I'll have up to a week and a half for the notebook to ship from China. That's really pushing it as it'll have to go through customs clearance. Here's to hoping!

Now I just need HP to release BCB just one more time so I can get that warranty. My friend tells me the wait-time to talk with an HP Envy CSR for his Envy 15 was 10 minutes max!

So I know this is a bit off topic. But, my orignal order of a dv6tse is being delivered today. From my understanding I can open the box, try the laptop out, then send it back in a couple days for a full refund? I have an envy 14 on the way now, so oviously I want the full refund, but I'd kind of like to try this thing out to, since I have another 2 weeks minimum before my envy will get here.

I used the live assistance on their website to get this done. Go to HP Home & Home Office Store - Home & Home Office Store Customer service and click on live assistance in the top right, then choose customer service live chat in the pop-up window. In the question box I wrote " I'd like to remove HPA from my account."
Start up the chat and they should verify who you are and remove the HPA.

**Make sure you log out of your account completely when you start the chat**
