When i tried to get my price match towards BCB, she told me the same thing, that i should just return it. And i agreed, and she wished me a happy life too xD. But she asked me if there was anything else she could do...and thats when i asked if there was anything she could do, and that i am a student, and i need money for books. and she did what she did and got me $115 back. =D

    11:47 AM- ANCHORAGE, AK

Mine didnt not visit Kimmy Jung Il...just straight from Shanghai to the good ole US of A

BTW, now that Im (read: my laptop) is in Alaska, its only 1pm there. So it could get out on another shipment to the mainland to Memphis by today. Wishful thinking...

Don't get fooled by the HP representatives. Of course they don't want ot give you the money. Of course they're not gonna tell you they will offer you a discount. You have to push for it yourself.

The first technician I talked to told me he couldn't price match the computer to the BCB. I asked for his supervisor and got my refund.

By the way my computer is at the sorting facility in Anchorage. Anyone ?

Woo! Mine was supposed to ship tomorrow, but it's in Anchorage, Alaska right now!

It went from Shanghai to Incheon, KR to Anchorage. It's hopefully not a long wait until it gets down here to California.

That's what I'm trying to do. I purchased the $200 slice battery and that junk should not be worth that much. Hope they find out that there is no difference between "standard vs. extended life" and refund me money for all this hassle.

Ya know what? I'm not even sure, lol. I am far, far from a Buddhism expert. So, I'll have to ask my sister about that.

From the way she explained it to me, it seemed to be about the fact that the organization was set up for the sole purpose of creating wealth for a few, at the expense of the many. And for no other reason. (creation of jobs, and paying taxes being little more than a required, and not necessarily intended side effect, in order to get the profits, I guess)

And then there was something about the fact that they sell their wares for the maximum amount of money they can get (in other words, what the market will bear), as opposed to asking a fair price, or margin without regard for what they can actually get. (i guess for example, selling the PC for $800, because that represents a fair profit, as opposed to selling it for $1,000, just because you can get people to pay it).

Hi all. Been scanning this forum for a couple days and figured it was time to sign up. I ordered my envy 14 on july 4th and got 10% after complaining about some misleading advertising, ended up getting the i5 520m, every thing else standard.

Anyways, current tracking says the laptop should be here friday, which seems pretty soon, seeing as originally it wasn't supposed to be built until tomorrow. Is this common, or is fed-ex toying with my heart?
    Cheers!

I've resolved my moral qualms. When I have time tomorrow, I'll see if I can shave a little off my price tag.

But guys, let's lose the moralistic approach. A billion dollar corporation like HP isn't run by complete idiots. People at the top by now know that their 21-day return policy can be exploited using the threat cancellation for money back. They'd have to have some pretty dumb managers to not see the number of people calling and getting money off their original price; it's all recorded on their machines. But they still maintain that policy knowing well they could follow in the footsteps of the likes of Dell and require a 15% restocking fee.

In this day and age of online retail sales, the old tradition of haggling for the best bang for buck possible bazaar-style still runs strong. There's really nothing morally wrong with getting money back through the cancellation threat because when you think about it, you're just doing your personal obligation as the customer to save money without breaking any laws. HP has obviously decided to maintain this policy at for 2010 and possibly beyond since they at least believe it helps them maintain their sales figures.

Plus let's not forget HP's own Envy manager quoted $999 as the starting price. In the very least, $100 off is just a way of compensating for what I deem to be deceptive advertising. I intend to get at least $100 because frankly I waited several months for this notebook thinking that $999 would be the base price.

Yet you try a moral justification argument.

First rule of morality? It's relative. - The following is addressed to all:

Whatever your religious, philosophical, or political worldview is, there will be others that disagree. Yet not a one can point to an absolute moral code.

That's what makes these arguments pointless.

The only things that matter is if it is against the law for which you could face prosecution or if it violates your own personal constitution for which you will suffer guilt.

With that said, there will be no further moral judgments tolerated in this thread. If you don't like what others are doing, simply don't do it. No need to comment, berate, insult, or whine.

Have a relatively good day. :D

Well, when I meant "moralistic," I simply meant taking a judgmental tone others. I'm always open to disagreement--I love debating for the sake of debating. But you have a point. It gets meaningless once it gets nasty

Well I just called HP because I was worried about the $200 credit that hadn't been posted to my account yet. She had trouble finding my order but eventually got it, and said that it would be posted 3-5 business days after I GOT the laptop I think. And I never mentioned how much the credit was, she asked if I was talking about the $200 credit, so that means they have a record of it :) . Hooray for that.

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this, but is everyone that is expecting their machines tomorrow seeing something other than me on their fedex tracking?

This is what mine is saying:

    In transit

    Clearance delay
    ANCHORAGE, AK

    Shipment Dates

    Ship date

    Jul 12, 2010

    Estimated delivery

    Jul 15, 2010 by 10:30 AM

    Destination

    AUSTIN, TX

I have seen some folks saying that they have already cleared customs, but I am not sure if this is the batch they were speaking of. Could Fedex be delayed on updating their site possibly? Alaska to Austin by tomorrow at 1030 am seems rough at this time. Thanks for any feedback.

Well, I ordered something on Amazon once. Granted, I had Prime but that only guarantees 2-day shipping. Anyway, I ordered late afternoon 3:30 pm, Amazon had the item shipped and processed by 9pm (cuz Amazon's the best), and I got it next morning at 10 am. It was from New York --> Chicago.

They deliver up to 10 pm, but the guys transporting the goods to the distro centers, flying the planes, etc, work overnight
