My order got delayed until the 12th. I placed my order the day it was released. They sent me an e-mail coupon code. I think I might call tomorrow and see if they will upgrade to 2nd day shipping at no charge.

Mine was delayed until the 9th, I ordered the day of release.

My upgrades were:

520
1 Dimm 4GB
160GB SSD

I'm calling soon to cancel, I needed it for a trip across the country this weekend, now I'm goign to just stop by Fry's and get whatever they have.

 

I just can not understand how mine and many other e14's that were ordered early on the 27th are caught up in this delay. Either they are holding an entire batch, or they had an insufficient stock of components upon release.

I got "the email" too delaying to 12th.... For some reason when they delayed my order I LOST my $120 BING Cash Back.... Very annoyed! BING is showing the item as returned... Any one else...

 

i520m and a 160 gig SSD. 4 gigs of RAM one DIMM. Has anyone figured out some connection between delays and possibly parts ordered?

 

i5-430M, 4GB 1 DIMM, all the rest is stock.

My money goes on the HD 5650 or the screen panel in regards to the delay.

 

so far 3 delays have a 520m. 2 of those 3 have a 160gb ssd.
2 non delays (so far) have a 450m, no ssd

 

For those who haven't received a delay email: What was your original shipping date?

Those are the dates that they expected to ship, correct? Mine was expected to go out on 7/7. I wonder if there is any connection between initial shipping date and when the delay email will (might?) go out?

 

That seems like a very risky way to make money... People aren't allowed to act as re-sellers, no?

Just an idea for those of you who actually needed the laptop by a certain date but the delays screwed it up:

Do what I did and call HP and tell them this. I basically just got 150 off today for that + the 25 dollar coupon. Buy something else in the meantime and return it when you get back from your trip.

And I ordered mine the 27th with 450m, 4GB 1 Dimm and 160GB SSD and my new ship date is July 9th.

 

Ordered 6/27:i5 520, 500gb hdd, 4gb RAM 1 dimm
supposed to ship 7/7, new ship date is 7/12

 

When you say new ship date, do you mean the ship date that HP told you about in their "notification of ship delay" email? Because if so, mine was only delayed until 7/9 (or 10 business days from 7/7). I also ordered on the 27th.

It seems strange that our orders - which differ only in HD (I got a 160 GB SSD) - have been reassigned new ship dates that are a few days apart.

So pretty much anyone who ordered an Envy with i520 and/or SSD are delayed? Anyone with i450 and/or HDD are fine? Can someone please confirm?

 

that really sucks about the delay. im guessing those who ordered them a bit later will also feel the delay

 

Yeah, and when I order on July 30 with my 60% BCB discount it will be shipped same day...

Regarding memory, IMHO, get the two DIMMS. It's best to get a matching pair for compatabilities sake anyhow. If you remove your 2x2GB chips in six months to a year, just sell them and use that money towards 2x4GB. People are so bent out of shape with that, I don't know why. IMHO unless you actually have another 4GB chip waiting to install I'd get the 2 DIMMS.

 

1x430, 1x450, 5x520 so far delayed, so it cant just be the processor.

I ordered late at night on the 27th, i5 450m + 500gb, I assume that it's a first come first serve type deal, seeing as I ordered about 20 hours after it was released.

I had core i3 370m and i am delayed...everything is so its something with all of them... or its simply not a component issue and hp just couldnt get them all done.

 

watch 'em somehow, someway just not have enough dvd drives

 

I would rather they take their time to ensure quality control

i5-450m, 500 GB, 6 GB ordered on 29th with estimated build date is July 9 - no notice, yet. But, I am expecting one with a similar 5 day delay.

As for those ordering on the 27th, what time did you order? That single day may represent 4 days worth of orders under normal load.

2.0 can we get an update to the front page to any additional refunds people are getting from HP? I know there is a $45 refund if you got a 520m, but I think I have seen some others, something relating to a Win 7 Pro for students.. any others?

Someone else here said that when he went to use his $25 coupon on a sleeve, shipping charges were added.

EDIT: Yeah, so the order has to be $39.99+ to be eligible for free shipping (I already ordered my E14).

I guess I won't be getting the $25 for the sleeve, and just as I was finishing reading the E14 backpack thread too.

 

Your order date was the 29th and it's already shipping? What are the specs of the machine you ordered? I ordered on the 28th and it's still in production, and I've seen many who ordered on the 27th and are still in production.

 

Same I just got my shipping notice too, best part is I also got the 25 dollar coupon...I expect it to arrive maybe Monday then. Good thing I decided to call and complain today.

I ordered almost right when it came out with 450m, 4GB 1Dimm and 160GB SSD

 

I updated the post with my specs.

My original ship date was today, so it's technically on time for me, which means I won't be getting any upgraded shipping or anything.

I really think it's the hard drives that are causing the different delay times. It looks like the orders with the 160GB SSDs should all be shipping today.

Well what do you know? Mine just shipped, too. I have the 256gb ssd, but I don't really think the storage device plays into the shipping rates. Good luck to all those who ordered early on in getting your shipping notification!

If you're referring to my post, I was kidding, I thought I was ridiculous enough to make that clear, but apparently not. I don't know any more than anyone else what bing will offer. I'm still hoping for the 25% though.

 

Should I call about the shipping?

I ordered on the 28th, so it was supposed to ship yesterday.
I have not gotten:
a) a shipment notification
b) the email saying it was delayed with the $25 credit.
