Alright, I called up HP.
I can "rest assured" that my laptop is on time for delivery. Since it is a CTO laptop, it must go through a day of customs before it's shipped. Supposedly it is in customs right now and I will receive the shipping notification sometime today. The lady assured me that there was no delay on my laptop.
Should I trust her?

^Cool. I didn't even go to those links. I believe they would do the same for the difference in price between MS Word 2010 from MS student and what they charge. I'm just waiting and getting it from MS, however. -
Does anyone one know if Discover's 5% casback through HP can be used along with the logic50 coupon code, or will one invalidate the other?
-
lol, I've gone through about 20 pages and everyone has ordered on the 27th of June. Has anyone ordered on the 28th of June and received an email about the delay?
-
I just chatted online with an HP rep online who told me that my order was, in fact, not upgraded to two-day shipping.
It is supposed to arrive on the 15th. Given that my original ship date was the 7th with five day shipping, it is still arriving on time so I can't really complain. -
Can anyone explain me in detail.. Thanks in advance..! -
Wow my estimated ship date changed again - it originally said 14th (and that it was already in the US) now it says 15th (coming from Shanghai)
in any case - I'm not going to be home on the 14th anyway
I think I've given HP enough hell, they've been super kind to me with refunds and coupons - I'm going to let this one rest.
Happy waiting everyone! -
To me there's no logical reason those that ordered on the 28th will ship on time (July 8th), when everyone who ordered on the 27th got delayed until the 9th or 12th. I would imagine they will operate on a first-come-first-served basis and fill the June 27th orders before the June 28th orders.
Since everyone that ordered on the 27th got their delay emails last night, I'd imagine everyone that ordered on the 28th will get their delay email tonight, probably postponing until the 13th.
...Just my two cents though - you'll know for sure by tomorrow.
EDIT: With the assumption any two machines (ordered 27th vs. 28th) were delayed for the same reason (which looks to be the hard drive) -
In case anyone cares, I ordered 7/1 and checked this morning and now have a shipping notice. Whereas yesterday it was saying my machine would be built by 7/13, the fedex tracking is now saying it will be delivered on 7/15 which is excellent! I am leaving on that day for Montana to visit my parents and go hiking and whatnot and was shipping the laptop up there so I could avoid taxes and have it for my flight back and it looks like I made the right choice! I was worried when the delays were coming that mine would be too and my parents would have to mail it to me.
What a good morning!
And for those that want to know, i5-450m, 160GB SSD, 4GB 1DIMM. So far I have received ~$75 in refunds, too bad it is too late for the Win7 Pro upgrade, I am stuck with the cheap version -- though does anyone know what the difference is b/w versions? -
-
So it looks like all the laptops that shipped have a SSD. Either part of the delay is with regular mechanical hard drives (which is absurd, IMO, considering how many companies make them and how easy they are to find online), or they're giving people with more expensive orders the priority.
Either way, I'm pissed. I ordered on the 28th and a few orders from the 29th have shipped. This is my second order with HP, and the second time I've been delayed. Their customer service is quite good, though; I will say that. -
bleh just called. Ordered oh the 28th with no delay email yet. Sales rep could only tell me that my order was still in production and would ship as soon as possible. Didn't know anything about customs or other delays. Hopefully it ships soon since I need it by the 15th for a trip.

MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
whelp. glad some people got theirs to ship.
Still waiting on mine.
520m, 2x2gig dimm, 320 gig hdd.
ordered at 7pm PST on the 27th. was delayed to the 12th. -
So, what if the delay was a large shipment from China that got delayed and affected a group of orders regardless of configuration?
-
You guys are like drug addicts waiting to get your fix, pathetic! I bet HP delayed the shipments just to mess with you
-
Until an order ships out on time with an HDD, I refuse to believe this customer segmentation stuff.
I'm going to speculate and say HP's HDD supplier had a massive explosion at some remote factory in Taiwan that's causing the delays. At this point, my outrageous concoction of a story seems no less plausible than any of yours
In all seriousness though, it'd be sweet if they could just be upfront and tell us what the heck we're waiting on here, but from the looks of things, it seems like the 500GB and 320GB HDD orders are having the longest delays. -
they probably just sold more then they have stock for and are waiting on a resupply, no big deal it happens all the time.
-
Has anyone who received a delay email been able to call and get them to actually give free 2 day shipping? I ordered the 27th and received an email delaying until the 12th.
-
interesting. who got a shipping notification with 2 day shipping? anyone?

Augh!... I am still waiting for a notification or a tracking number. It is due today
-
I guess the delay in my shipment from 7/7 to 7/12 was a blessing; I called HP to complain and to see if they could expediate my shipping method and to keep my business they offered me a $100 credit!
So now my build and final price is as follows (also includes the 10% EPP discount):

I hope I get the same treatment. $1052 - 100 = $952 would be nice!
-
-
Go complain aobut it and see if you can get more off =] -
They gave me a credit for the 2 day shipping, and credited an additional 25 dollars. Not nearly as good as a 100 dollar credit...but I'm okay with it. Funny part was the commotion in the background..sounded like a couple dozen kids running around.
FYI, my order shipped today, only a 2 day delay...not too bad. Still, needed it this weekend. -

$1,299.45
HP ENVY 14 customizable Notebook PC Order in production
(Estimated to ship on July 7, 2010) Tracking provided upon shipment.
Dam cuzz update me on whats going on. -
I told them that I was hoping to have the laptop before leaving for vacation and asked if they could expedite shipping once its out of production. She put me on a brief hold and came back and said they cannot expedite shipping this late in the game however mentioned they could provide me with a $50 credit for the inconvenience; I asked if there was something more they could do - I was then offered a $100 (I was told thats the max) - I quickly accepted! I think she feared I would process an order cancelation...
-

I tried to wait for a better coupon, I gave in and just ordered mine with the student discount.
-
edit: if there is a link associated with it, please link as well! much appreciated, thanks! -
just called about the cash back and said that i would like to cancel my order so i can take advantage of a cashback program that would save me $60 (just did 5% of my $1200 order, you probably could get away with $100 if you say that) then they will say since your order is about to be shipped why dont i just credit you with $60 instead and of course you say yes. so far i have got $145 back and student discount of %10 on top of that. Also always say yes to their survey, i just hang up after the end of the call when they transfer you to the survey but i think it makes it more likely they will give you the credit.
i5 450m, 4g 1 DIMM, lojack $1205 with tax and student discount -145 = 1060 pretty good i think, who knows if my order get delayed i might get $25 or $50 more. ordered on 6/29 build date 7/9 -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
*tries out the customer support livechat stuff*
gonna at least get the $25 processor credit -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
meanwhile I'm on eternal waiting hell for my $25.
*sighs* I shoulda called them -
Has anyone's order status changed on the HP website?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
no.
it was only an e-mail -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
*sighs*
4 delays and I say screw it.
live chat is worthless.
delays being: "Please give me three (more) minutes of your time" followed by "I'm truly sorry for the delay." (wait for your response) "Please give me three more minutes of your time" -
I got the $25 from the coupon credited to my card but the coupon is still valid ..too bad I have nothing to buy maybe a printer?
-
(I was talking about FatWallet 3%). I agreed to the survey, so hopefully it'll work. -
-
Damn. 18 min, 03 second phone call just to be told that it will indeed arrive 5-7 business days after the ship date (yesterday).
She wouldn't give me the 3% since it was "fatwallet's own promo." I was fed up with not being able to understand her and didn't feel like arguing it out... -
yay!! i received my "Your HP Order has Shipped" email at 4:30 this morning! my laptop is due at my house on the 15th
my order status on the hp website has also changed to show my shipping # (i know some people were wondering about this..) -
-
What can a 1 hour and 10 minute phone call do for you? It got me another $50 discounted on my new Envy 14! that makes a total savings of an extra $255! ($127.50 EPP Discount, $22.50 i5 price drop, $40 instant rebate for ordering via phone, $25 credit for shipping delay, $50 for 1hr10min call bickering about dissatisfaction with the 'said-to-be' $999 starting price)
