Yeah, I liked my Eee too. I was just put off by the 1024x600 resolution. Not that I'd game much on it, but there were a couple games that required minimum 768 vertical height to work, Sins of a Solar Empire one of them.

Yeah, I didn't have the money for the Envy 14, let alone anything else when 30% BCB hit. I was waiting for my check to be deposited on Wednesday, when BCB hit Monday and Tuesday, so thankfully my mom loaned me the rest of the money I needed to buy the laptop.

Right now with current instant discount, the DM1Z costs $361 with tax and free shipping with 30% BCB. The Mini 311 or 210 won't cost much less than that with 30% BCB and current discounts, so the DM1Z would be the better buy IMHO.

Well they're building my exchange system now... with an EBD of August 9th but if I try to order one off theyre website now, I could get one with a EBD of August 2nd
Worse than that, I checked last night when I called them, and If I ordered from their website last night, the build date would have been July 28th. hp.

If you you're going to pay over $350, check out a microcenter if you have one near you. I picked up a DM3 for $330 openbox refurb from HP. It looked pristine and like it was never touched before. Theyre $400 for the non open box refurbs.

I think the DM3 would be too big as an "netbook" type PC. Plus I want to at least get the dual core CPU. Not sure if those refurbs or open box ones are single core. But I'll have to check it out.

Its actually pretty small and light for a 13 inch PC. The one I got came with a L335 Dual Core Proc. Just a suggestion :p

let's hope that HP is lowering it down to 3% to hint that a good BCB is coming up

ahem, if the magic conchballthing is right, 30% ftw?

i'd love to have that 40% or 50% though. i'd add a couple more upgrades =]

Yes, exactly. I already pretty much upgraded, i5-520m, 256GB SSD, rest stock. I might choose 6GB, but the savings would be so substantial. But maybe a 40% or 50% for one last BCB hoorah! We can only hope!

But you'll have to be fast on the trigger, probably. And HP better get my money returned from my original pretty quick because I'll be spending my property tax money then if I order again, due September 1!!! D'oh!

my frugal sister who almost didn't let me get a 160gb ssd (with bcb of course...not paying out of pocket! pshaw!).

    her reasoning:

why not just pay 900 total with base config instead of 1200 with ssd?!?! u could save more money!!

me: cause it's a STEAL!!! cheap ssd+30% off + i want it + first time ssd+ STFU it's MY money and MY first laptop :DDDD

yeah if there's no bcb or somehow i miss it *knocks on wood* i'll probably settle with the base config or 450m...(i'm getting lojack no matter what too).

Bah, I couldn't afford it with SSD (well I need 256GB) if it weren't for the BCB. I went a little over what I intended to pay, but couldn't resist. If it happens to pop to 40%+, I'm definitely getting 6GB and probably add lo-jack. Slice sounded nice at first, but part of the reason I'm going for this laptop is the weight, and adding the slice just makes it about as heavy as my current laptop, well still 1lbs less, which is just too heavy to pick up and go like I want.

No, you can't combine BCB with any coupon code, discounts (including employee/student discounts), or any other cash back sites.

But nobody knows, that's the whole issue.

HP Direct is no longer a sponsored link on Bing. You have to go in through the Cashback Stores, which is currently at 2%. Maybe thats it for BCB and HP.

I've watched this Envy on these forums for months, waited for BCB but I have been in Australia (normally I'm in the US) since the 10th and missed the cash back as it was in the middle of the night and only for a few hours.

I won't be buying one unless they give a big discount (coupon or BCB) because I will always feel like I got insanely ripped off.

I was tempted to get an SSD too, but I felt I'd be better off waiting for 256gb and larger SSDs to drop in price. I'd still like to keep my music and some movies on my notebook if possible.

i'm hoping and convincing myself that they lowered their usual 5% to 3% to hint at their incoming 30%+ bcb......

and i don't rly keep many movies/songs/etc in my computer. i'm too lazy to torrent/buy/fileshare/etc to get music. i just use slacker haha, or watch a movie in the theatre. sooo...160gb is MORE than enough for my steam games. besides, i'm gonna have an external nonetheless.

When I look on bing I only show it as 2%, any idea why I would only see 2 while everyone else sees 3??
Not really worried about the 1% dif, but I'd hate for it to go 30% and I still only see 2%.
