if i don't get an update by late tomorrow i will call to complain
-
It now has a sequel... I like the cast of characters, mostly the same in the first one.
-
Alrighties. So I take it that those who ordered on the 12th and got a ship date of 22nd(today) are calling in tomorrow?
-
Monday. One day is like a blip. Buy if they give you a free ride on a camel, let me know.
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
I will be. It is 9:30am in shanghai, july the 23rd. It is already 1 day late there
-
so people that have the ship date say on the 22nd (today), they should have their E14 by say...the longest 7 business days, that would be August the 2nd!
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
longest for me better me Monday. (2 business day shipping), But I still wont have it in my hands until august 1st.

Mine is suppose to ship today. Still no update on the website. I will call tomorrow after work.
-
if HP wasn't BSing me when I called earlier today it will ship on your shipdate but the website takes ~48 hours to update
-
IKilledYourHamster Notebook Evangelist
I was told that about my first Envy14. She was lying or misinformed.
-
I bought an Envy and dv6t on the same day. dv6t ships the 22nd and envy ships the 23rd. I didn't get any notification but checking the order status on hp.com shows that the dv6t has been shipped with tracking information (it's already in alaska D
.
-
How do you know they are lying?
Cuz they told me the same thing..
Ssssssshhhh******ttttt -
I'll believe them when I get my tracking number
-
Same here. That's why I give them until Monday evening, so probably call next Tuesday if no tracking number. That would give them two business days (Friday and Monday) to get it updated. Seems like that's an awful long lag time considering everything is electronic.
-
They're just telling us that junk to shut us up. I've never heard of fedex taking days just to provide a tracking number.
-
Ok. How about someone here volunteer to call HP tomorrow and ask WTH is going on?
-
I will for sure
-
This is BS, sick of waiting and checking status to see nothing. I'm going back to troll on autoadmit.
-
Lets not compare you vs the rest... Very few people who buy mac care about processor (which btw is not bad), but people do care about good screen, great build quality and excellent battery life which is exactly what macbook offers and has a lot of followers. To be honest if Envy 14 doesn't satisfy me, I will go get macbook 13 and be done with this.
-
Lolwut?
What does that mean? Reread my comment carefully. I meant Macbook Pro 13 vs. other notebooks out there!
Plus you just introduced a new consideration. If the specs really aren't that important for you, I'd suggest you look elsewhere.
That aside, you're confusing yourself. Let's look at your reasoning process.
LOL. You see my point? Let me distill it for you:
You: MBP has one of the best screens around
Me: Nope, Envy (line) has a higher color gamut and there are business notebooks out there with IPS screens. (My addition here: I've seen Sony notebooks with better screens)
You: The Envy 14's recent. And business IPS notebooks are higher priced.
NOTE: You made a blanket statement, I proved you wrong, then you tossed a red herring when you tried to discuss price points for what you get.
Me: If you wanna discuss price, let's do apples to apples (i.e. similarly priced and/or specced machines). Also note: Envy 15's not recent but has a better screen.
You: ??????? I don't care about specs!
Again, allow me to summarize. YES, the Macbook Pro has one of the better screens around, but not the best. Plenty of notebooks have better screens out there. That's agreed, yes?
Then why start discussing price out of nowhere? The Macbook Pro doesn't even deliver on value!!!! If you want to discuss value, let's compare notebooks that are similarly speced AND priced. Problem is, the Macbook Pro comes with weaker and cheaper CPU and RAM than MOST $1,000 notebook PCs on the market nowadays! -
I have to agree with zeth here.
I would have bought the 13 inch mac book pro but it does not have a i5 processor or i3 processor. I do not feel like I am getting my worth when I'm buying something that is a generation old. Yeah you can argue that computer components are always obsolete months later, but thats obsolete now. you are just wasting your money on something that is less capable. -
I see that you are really bored
In any case I disagree that there are plenty of notebooks that have better screens because they are either unbalanced (Envy 15) or overpriced (Sony Z) and ugly (business ones).
Also Apple never delivered on the value, but it's not about that, it's about good balance for average Joes and not geeks like some.
-
so......about that "discounts/delays/shipping? anybody got word on when their MBP is shipping?
-
whats up with all the discussions about the crappy macs in these ENVY 14 threads?
-
because we are just bored...
-
so did you guys jump boat from the official envy 14 owners thread cause it's officially closed?
i'm still crying about possibly no more hp BCB. lol. -
No, season 2 started here:

I don't want to crash your party, but good balance of what? Mac's have a great build design (structurally and manufacturing), appealing aesthetics (to some), long battery life, and overall great QC. Problem is that has little to do with what a PC is and what it's supposed to do. It's like making a well designed sleek sports car that costs $80k, with a small 4 cylinder engine. It looks great and sips gas, but it drives slower and costs 50% more than most other cars of similar class.
Average Joe's are more concerned about best bang for your buck quite frankly, not how sexy it looks. I think Joe Gamer would prefer to spend $2000 on a 17" desktop replacement with an i7-840QM and dual HD 5970's than $2000 on an i7-620m and GT 330m. Or Joe student wants the best combination of CPU and GPU for as little cost as possible, and probably mom and pop won't want to spend $2000+ on a laptop. Unless the "Apple" look or OSX is of utmost importance to you, then MBP is about your only option. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere (like the Envy 14).
Also, Sony Z is a little overpriced, but still on par with MBP if not cheaper. You can get a Sony Z with i5-520m, 4GB RAM, GT 330m, 1600x900 screen, DVDRW, 128GB SSD for $1700. Still a lot cheaper than a similarly equipped MBP, which you have to go to 15" to get that, not 13 like the Z. -
MBP? That's blasphemy and hereticism!
Everyone, persecute the heretic!! -
How does one display their signature. I've followed the following instructions, but I don't see a place to actually enter my signature in the Preference panel.
I have the show signature check box checked, but where exactly does one enter their signature. Are a certain number of post required to have signature? -
Yeah I think so. I've tried also and I've had no luck finiding the edit signature link.
-
its in the user cp. first link on the left under settings and options
-
Looks like you got it down.
-
What exactly does this mean?
Yes, you need a certain number of posts to display a signature or you're seeing a signature included in my post that I'm not seeing?
The only thing under " User CP" that I'm seeing that could be a place to enter a signature is the "Current Notebook: Place the specs for the current notebook(s) you own or have ordered here" section.
I have all my ENVY Info there along with a check-mark in the Display signature check-box, but I'm still not seeing it appear under any of my posts.
-
you need more posts.
anyways back on topic! still waiting for my tracking number
-
Wait until tomorrow morning/afternoon. Couple of people have said they'll call. I'm as anxious as you. If I find I have to RMA this baby, I'm going to be in quite the pickle.
-
Thanks for the info!
-
Mine has just entered production...and I'm not scheduled to ship til the second of august
-
Oh, I intend to call also. By tomorrow(today) it will be 2 days from when it was supposed to ship/tracking number given.
I called today and they said it shipped but I will believe them when I get my tracking -
Maybe they will give you some incentives too lol..
-
You and I both my friend (I believe we have the same ship date for the 21st which was 2days ago mind you - with no emails from hp)
But yes I will call tomorrow.. Lemme know why they say on your end and I'll do the same. -
Let us know if you get any money back! -
Guys, i know the thread moves fast.. but can someone clarify my doubt?
-
If they can't give you tracking info over the phone then it probably hasn't shipped.
-
I don't understand your question. There is no difference between "Do they ship the laptop by that date or its just that it gets shipped from manufacturing site". The laptop comes directly to you from china, usually by or on the date listed for the estimated build.
-
I thought build by date means, laptop gets buily by that date and then it takes few more days for them to ship to US. So basically it will take a week after the build date to get the laptop in hands?
-
HP has told many that the build-by date is the ship date, but I agree with you. Give it a couple days. I would just add a week to that build-by date before you should expect your laptop, maybe 5 days if you chose 2 day shipping. This is why I never pay extra for 2 day, because standard shipping usually only takes 3-4 days anyways and saves me $40 or whatever.
-
Thanks htwingnut

The ENVY 14 is HP's new premium "IT" product, so does anyone have a clue why theres no fingerprint reader or i5-540m on the configuration list. I suppose the i5-540M exclusion keeps the ENVY 15 relevant, but what's up with the missing fingerprint reader on the security front in a $1000 PC?
