*Quasi-Official ENVY 14 discounts, delays, "mine is shipping" lounge*

Because fingerprint readers are gimmicks? I used the one on my laptop after I first got it, thinking "cool". But it needed to be recalibrated every couple of weeks and became annoying that I'd have to roll my finger over it the exact same way every time.

I haven't heard anyone mention anything about facial recognition though. Seems to be pretty standard now, with webcams built in to most laptops. Maybe it does, but I haven't heard anyone mention it.

 

Agreed I used to get all my Dell Latitudes with fingerprint readers but realized how inaccurate they were at times (faster to just type your password) and the software that's required to used them (in Dell's case, the "Embassy Trust Suite") were borderline bloatware and slowed my boot up time considerably.

 

for all the build date 7/22 - just got off the phone with HP again, they said its not updated yet, but the laptops are going through customs and then transfered to fedex tomorrow, when we will get a tracking number. these will ship out on monday since they dont operate on the weekends.

 

Ah damn that means I will probably receive it next friday while im on vacation. Bleh. Well thanks for the information I figured this was the case.

 

only thing that confuses me about this is why did the first batch get tracking numbers immediately so they could track through the customs process too?

 

She said it was something about fedex currently being slow with updating the tracking status, same with HP on the order status.

 

to be fair all first batchers got their tracking numbers on a monday

 

I actually removed that and used the finger print scanner program provided on windows 7 it worked way better than the trust suite

 

HP saying that they have shipped but not cleared customs so does that mean those how have shiipping dates 21/22/23rd have already left china just waiting on updates or are getting ready to leave china?

I had a 21st shipdate and when I called yesterday, they told me that my lappy was in Alaska already. Bit I'm gonna call again today to see what's up.

I have a strange feeling someone somewhere in hp is lying..

I can't speak definitively for the other first-batchers, but mine was listed as being received after-hours by FedEx on Monday. I think it took a couple days for it to actually ship out of Shanghai, so I believe we got our tracking numbers on a Monday because the laptops were shipped on a Monday.

 

Now that we're one day past official ship date, anyone wanna phone in?

Why does FU**ING HP tell me something different EVERYTIME I call them.

Called on wed - told me there were no delays and its being processed for shipping later on the 21st

Called on thur - told me it has indeed shipped on the morning of the 21st

Called today - told me there was a component shortage and there WAS A DELAY and somehow they ran out of parts on the 21st. And told me it has indeed shipped today. And my 10% is being prossesed through back to my credit card (on top of my 10% student)

All three times they said 'you'll be getting an email in 24 hours' -- have not received one.

So I don't know anymore what to believe.
So I guess there WAS A DELAY, HP just decided not to share this with it's customers who are wondering where there $1000+ machines are.

They offered me 25 bucks tho on top of all the other discounts haha.

So I'm guessing Monday, but who the freek knows anymore.

I'd have to say because they outsource everything at this point and their system doesn't give them a good idea of what's really happening.

 

Geez and I thought all the speculation would be over once we finally could purchase this thing! You all have moved on to speculating about shipping! LOL! What's next, speculating on HP will fix all the issues people are complaining about...or has that also already started?

I wasn mean or anything. All I said was 'i'm checking the status of my lappy'. I didn't tell him about the other calls (don't know if they keep that in their notes or not).

But he said sorry for the delay and offered me 25 bucks. And of coarse I said yes

btw, called them as well. They said no delay and should've been shipped, but the system hasn't been updated. They will call me when there is new update.

 

I'm in the 22nd batch. I was told that there is no reported delay, but it's also not recorded as having shipped. Since it's not reported as a delay, they can't refund my 2-day shipping, but the chat support agent told me that it will be refunded if a delay is reported.

LAME! I just got a delay notification. And after all the hp people i talked to who assured me that my order has not been delayed and was in fact already built, and some even said it has already been shipped.

Are you have any trouble with Customs? I've heard any 3820tgs imported from Europe are getting sent back, and I'm wondering if the envy 14 is gonna have this problem too.

i ordered on the 12th like many others here. it is a shipping delay. i dont mind waiting a bit longer but i needed this thing before i go on vacation.

Damn. I'd like to threaten to cancel my order with them so i get some discounts, but i'm scared that would screw with my BCB. I have the same build as you except with 6gb of ram.

Depends on what you mean by "similar type". If you don't care about gaming as much, but want the best screen look into macbook pro 13", otherwise there are plenty of other laptops with subpar screens, but better graphics cards like Acer TimelineX series.

 

Just got a delay myself, until 7/27 "Or not 7 days past your existing ship date". Same crappy 50-off-200+ of something else coupon. I'm going to call and raise hell. I want to see them start expediting shipping to bloody overnight for free. No more of this 2 day crap. Bull they tell so many people "No, there are no delays" and this happens. Typical HP. At bare minimum, I think we should get 100-200 back plus free overnight shipping.

 

The more i think about this, the more I think I'm going to cancel my order. If they can't get their act together, they are going to start losing more and more money....

lol. I'm in a live chat right now and they are trying to convince me that no delay exists and that I need to wait 24-48 hours to receive an email with my tracking number

 

I got $89 off with free 2 day shipping. They actually just gave me $50 off, then $39 off for the 2 day shipping, but they are still giving me the 2 day shipping.

Hmm...maybe they ran out of the rarer 4gb DIMMs but not the 2gb ones.

 

I haven't gotten a delay and I got 6gb of ram so Id doubt the 4gb sticks is the issue. Maybe they decided to do QC on the batch, unlike the first batch
