Ok did the live chat support for the benefit of others here. . .conclusion. . .i'll never get back that 15 minutes of my life. ..

    The gist of it was:

Me: Hi can I check the order status for my envy 14?
CSR: Sure, do you mind holding while i check?
    Me: No problem
    5 minutes later
CSR: The July 22, 2010 is just the Estimated Built Date of your PC, it's not the ship date.
Me: um actually it says right on hp.com under "order status" "Order in Production(Estimated to ship on July 22, 2010)"
CSR: Yes most probably it will be shipped by next week
Me: So you can't check the status? Is there a delay?
CSR: There is no update at this time if there is a delay you will be notified by email. . .

This went back and forth for about 15 mins with the CSR basically not knowing what's going on and kept saying it's a "build" date not a "ship" date estimate. . .

So in a nutshell, most likely there's a delay and we may or may not get the envy's next week.

I didn't do this just to kill time, but wanted to save others from having to waste 20 mins of their life trying to get info from an hp csr. If you chose 2 day shipping i would definitely call on Monday and get a refund.

edit: I purchased on 7/12 with the first batch of bcb 30% discount group. Hopefully the "delay" will be due to better qc

If one requests some credit from the HP for the shipping delay (say $100), will this invalidate the BCB deal?

So are you guys who got delayed getting bumped up from standard shipping to 2 day? I've heard a lot of mention of people getting their shipping bumped up upon delay, but i didn't notice anything about it in either of the emails i received.

OK, thats good news but I wonder if it might take some time for them to send out all the delay notices...

I ordered on 7/13 with a 7/23 ship date and haven't gotten a delay notice yet but I'm worried one may be coming.

    My config is i3-370/4gb 1 DIMM/160gb SSD

    No!

Also, on other subject since when "estimated" means "guaranteed"? They are estimating shipping, but it's not guarantying that it will ship on that day. Be patient and everyone will get it!

NO. Friend just got his $500 check from BCB. He even double-dipped with Student Discount AND got $200 credit from HP when he thought BCB was going to get canceled.

/CSB, and yes, it's a true story. He's not a big fan of forums, so I'm not sure I can get him to take photos/snapshots of his BCB check, online receipt, and $200 credit.

I'm assuming he purchased something other than the Envy 14 right?

Understood that there is a difference between"estimated" and "guaranteed" my query was about csr saying it's an "estimated build date" when it clearly says on hp.com "estimated SHIP date" . . .unless she meant that's the estimated date for hp to build a ship to bring our envy's to the states...=)

Oh well a few extra days it is...

Is the Consumer Resolution line 24/7? CSR said he's sending info to headquarters so I need to call in the evening...he keeps bumbling.

EDIT: I've been told to call by 8pm PST to get some updates.

Geesh. A little more transparency would've been nice. I'm not complaining (yet) about not getting money back. But the smokes and mirrors are starting to worry me.

so it is not certain then that the BCB won't be cancelled if combined with other credits given your language, "he got under the radar miraculously"?

It's not 100% certain you'll get canceled IF you COMBINE 10% STUDENTS DISCOUNT WITH BING CASHBACK. Remember, actual human beings run the cashback department.

HOWEVER. If you get money back from HP, THAT DOES NOT VOID YOUR BCB.

    And what profession is that?

    @hp_dv
If you want to double dip, go ahead, but consider the payoffs/consequences: you might get $400 back, but you might lose a sure $300.

Apparently he thinks a profession (law) with its massive amount of unemployment, mountain of educational debt and largely bimodal salary figures is for "risk-adverse" individuals.

If they offer me a discount for the delay, I'm gonna request it as a gift card - that way I know it won't have anything to do with BCB.

Yes, I'm not thinking of student discounts or other promotions but the credit that one can request from HP for failure to honor the contract (e.g. to renege on original shipment date).

"If you get money from HP, that does not void your BCB" - is this clearly specified somewhere on the BCB site?

    Dear Mr. Bailey,

    Good day!

This email is a response to your question about the Bing Cashback and the credits that were offered in your order. Applying these credits would not affect your Bing Cashback promotion; however, the percentage of the promotion would then be based from the remaining amount of the order. FOR EXAMPLE, the order subtotal is $1000 and the agent issued $100 (for whatever purpose it may serve) - 25% Cashback will be based from the $900 left.

TBF, there are few industries that haven't been hit by the recession, and rising education costs everywhere is a reality that seems strangely enough unique to America. My sister is also paying up the roof for med school, but we don't complain. As for bimodal salaries, I think that's just something called capitalism. As long as you have dodgy tier3 and tier4 schools opening up every year, you're almost always going to see their graduates earning slave wage salaries. I hate to sound like an elitist, but a 143 LSAT does NOT qualify someone for a $160,000 starting salary. Period.

You may hear about the not-so-intelligent CEO who gambles the retirement funds and futures of millions of Americans who trusted him. You can open up the newspaper and find a story about that two-faced executive who was recorded as saying he knew the crisis was coming, but still invested the entire company's cash reserves in risky mortgages.

But you'll never see a lawyer making those kinds kind of mistake, hence the old adage "Lawyers make the best businessmen." Probably a good reason the new CEO of Countrywide is a former lawyer.

I just called. They said no delay and connected me to Fedex to get a tracking number. Fedex guy said HP has to give me my tracking number. I gave him my address though and he confirmed there is a scheduled delivery for me at my address for the 28th by 4:30PM. so I guess I wait...

Order on 6/30 and still don't even have a shipping notification....450m, 2x2gb RAM, 320HDD. today was the new estimated ship date but I'm not holding my breath. if it doesn't ship by Monday I'll just cancel and take my (companys) business elsewhere.

I said this early on in the other thread but its worth repeating: For a company that has made A LOT of money doing large scale systems integration to not be able to get out of their own way like this is appalling. My order status still displays an estimated ship date of July 12, the CSR staff can't tell me anything more than "no status change, your estimated ship date is still 7/23", and they claim to not be able to change ANY aspect of your order including shipping type. That's just dysfunctional, but then you add to it some of the outright lies that the CSR people have been feeding people....

"yes, you'll get free updated shipping!" no you won't, they'll ship it 5-7day.
"your order has shipped, it just takes time for it to show in the FedEx system". no it doesn't, people who have had their machines actually ship have used fedex systems to track them all the way through the customs process.

This isn't 1988, something called "the internets" exists (thanks Al Gore), we can easily talk to each other now no matter where we are in the world so STOP BSing US. If they don't give you a tracking number, which they get from FedEx as soon as they enter the shipment into the system, then they are stone cold lieing.

Tough Market for Law School Grads - ABC News

Bro, unless you have a no-strings full ride at Tier 1 or are going to a T10- I wouldn't even bother. Law is the most saturated field in existence and the degree has little to no flexibility. Your sister is going to be fine because she is entering a legitimate, non saturated field with natural barrier (ie math and science) against the stupid masses.

Shipment Exception at the top is the current status - it just means that there was some kind of delay in the shipment - in your case, the fact that it arrived at the FedEx facility too late to make it on the plane.

I'm not even going to open up those links because 1. I've read them already and 2. I recognize the URL for the second one as it (along with the other 3) are among the most over-cited articles I've read this year (next to Squaretrade's Reliability Report).

I've heard the same tired arguments made by students who're supposed to be top 10% of their class at the likes of NYU and Columbia. These are students who were groomed for success by their rich upper class parents or thought to be guaranteed a $160k starting salary job upon graduation. When they find that they didn't get a single offer out of the 10-15 on-campus interviews from these big-name law firms, they panic, then start spamming internet forums with their horror stories to tell every other non-Top10 student that they're royally ------. Only one question: All other things equal and recessionary factors accounted for, can we honestly extrapolate from the top250 firm hiring situation that the legal market is open only to Top10 grads?

Could be there's a shortage of i5-450m's - Zeth006 and hapbeeboy seem to be the only ones who ordered on the 12th who have gotten shipping confirmations so far, and they both ordered i5-520m's.

I think if you were to somehow get in contact with my CSR, you'd be able to get an actual tracking number. My CSR told me he'd send info to headquarters or something like that and told me he'd tell me by Monday if he were to get any updates. An hour later, I got a call from him with the tracking number. Seems like he really cares about his job! You don't see that often!
