Agreed. Also, some people here ordered way after us and had theirs ship out already.

Int'l shipment release as of Jul 24, 2010 2:42 PM
-
So that means we made it throught customs already? I wonder if we might get our deliveries early...
edit: a flight left AK for Memphis a little while ago--anyone see their status change to departed? -
Yeah, it's ridiculous.

my first envy (the one I'm returning cuz I got a better one coming) took 2-3 days to get from Anchorage to my local facility. So if they leave Anchorage today, we could receive our envy's monday at the earliest, or tuesday.
-
Mine arrived in Anchorage as well, and is expected by 4:30 on the 28th as well.
-
You think well be gettin them earlier than wendsday..?
-
mine is with everyone else's, although i live in south fla, and got 2 days shipping so my edd is 7/27 before 1030 am, so i get my laptop on the way out to pick up starcraft 2
-
I just checked FlightAware--it looks like there are several more flights from Anchorage to Memphis tonight, but the flight to Oakland only seems to operate Mon.-Fri.
-
Actually I think we might. Is everyone whose Envy is expected by the 28th living on the west coast? Because I'm in California, and that's a lot closer to Alaska than say, New York.
-
Yea I'm in Cali too..
That would be pretty sweet to get them earlier! -
Sorry if this has been mentioned already. But what number did you guys call to get the usual fare of $100 back? I'm now regretting having gotten the i5-520M and would rather not have to cancel to get it back especially if I'll lose BCB.
Did you guys call the "Consumer Resolution Line?"

I'm hoping mine might make it here a day early if it can get on one of the next 2 planes to Memphis it could be there by 2AM Sunday, and even if they don't move it out until Monday, it could be ready to be delivered on Tuesday.
-
Why are you regretting getting the 520i5?
-
Can someone tell me what this means? I was kinda hoping to get the laptop today (the thing shipped 3/4 of the US (CA, to TN) in 5 hours!

No improvement over the i5-450M, not worth $100. -
Hell, I'll pay you $50 and ship you my i5-450M for your i5-520M when we get our Envy 14s.
-
Technically you're paying $50 more.
Example:
If your Envy has 430M and you want to pay for 450M you'll have to pay $50 more for it. Same rule apply, if your Envy has 450M and you want to upgrade it to 520M you'll have to pay $50 more, however HP is exploiting it by stacking another $50 making it $100. -
Meh. It'll cost $40-50 for me to ship mine to you!
I'll keep my Envy 14 and get $100 from HP.
-
did the ebay lady pay for sat delivery? if not no delivery today
-
I dunno, if I were you I'd feel good about the i5-520M.
I kind of wish I'd dropped the extra $100 on the i5-520M. I have some instances I can think of where the extra Turbo Boost would help me out. -
Like when?
-
dont think she did but if it arrived on saturday i was hoping to stop by fedex and pick it up myself. You think its stalled just so it will ship on the correct date?
-
I have a couple of games that are extremely CPU intensive, and unfortunately only run on a single thread.
The example that jumps to mind is Sins of a Solar Empire, if you're in a large game with multiple AI players, large fleets, multiple galaxies, after a while the game will grind to a gruelingly slow speed due to so much CPU work. The faster I can get a single core, the better. Is that alone worth $100 more? Well...
That's just one example. If you can get $100 back from HP, I don't think you should care either way. I'll probably be happy enough with the i5-450M anyhow. -
-
Is SC2 single-threaded? -
No idea, but I would assume that it runs on at least two threads, most modern games are.
Remember the i5-520M should run at a higher frequency in general (most of the time).
I also feel like many people get their impressions of these processors based on synthetic benchmarks, which are usually not a good indicator of real world performance.
Regardless, I would be very happy with the i5-520M if I were you. -
Ehhhh, at this point, it just seems like an upgrade that's not worth the price. I jumped on it because, well, everyone else was jumping on it! I also remember thanking my stars that I chose to pay extra for the T7500 back in February of 2008 when Core 2 Duo was all the rage.
I don't know what the AES security stuff does and I don't plan to run multiple OSes. It's like paying extra for that car iPod dock I won't ever use since I don't use iPods. -
Question: What is scanning and what point in shipping does it occur?
-
FlightAware just updated to show an Anchorage to Oakland flight leaving in about an hour. I guess they do operate those on the weekend afterall.
-
tornbacchus GO leafs.. Wait, Nevermid
HA well I called HP back and she said the best she can give me is a $50 credit and $39 credit back to my account.
She was also about to credit back $100 more if I didn't get bing cashback, but siad it would interfere with it.
I was also arguing about trying to get the laptop sleeve for all this bull, saying that people with the exact same specs that ordered a day after me get them shipped out before mine. It is obviously the factorys fault, they messed up and they have to rebuild the laptop...
... The best she gave me was $5 off the sleeve. I was gonna snap.
She then escalated the case, and I am expecting a phone call Monday night to see what discount I can get off of the sleeve. -
So, I just ordered my laptop, and it says that it will be built by August 5th. With the 5-7 day shipping, does that mean it will be at my house by the 10th or 12th?
-
most likely 12
-
Alright, thanks justos!
-
How did you get that updates? Doesn't show any here. -
FlightAware > Federal Express Corporation #94
Mine departed the Fedex facility at 5:44pm. Here's hoping its on this flight.Attached Files:

Hax0r! His left Alaska before ours after a 4 hour wait!
-
I think you're probably on this one to Memphis
FlightAware > Federal Express Corporation #26 -
Thx for the invitation..will be there (barring unforeseen circumstances)..
-
I second that....
-
I wonder if HP even has QC...
-
My Envy 14 is in Alaska.
"Arrived at FedEx location"
one hour later, "Int'l shipment release" (current status)
Does this mean it has cleared U.S. Customs? I google'd and it seems there is the possibility of _two_ Int'l shipment release statuses, so checking to see if anyone else has it. -
Don't be silly. Of course they do! It's called the customer!
-
ARGGGG. If it looks like urs is ahead of the rest of the party's I might have to ask the bouncer to ban you from entering!
-
The only way the $100 credit would affect bing is that it would lower the amount of cash back you get by 30% (or whatever bing cash back rate you ordered at) of the discount. In my case, I got a $100 discount and ordered at 30% bing, so my cashback will be $30 less. I have an email from HP stating exactly this, as does someone else I saw posted on this thread.
Here is a snippet of the email I received from HP when I asked if my credit would void bing:
"The $113.00 credit will not void your 30% cashback. The $113.00 credit was offered to you to keep the notebook since you would like to cancel it because of the review of the battery for the notebook that you purchased. I advised that the $113.00 credit will be processed once we ship out your order." -
yeah my envy just left anchorage a few hours ago and will land somewhere in the states soon

Alright, so this is a Quasi thread, I can basically post anything to do with the Envy 14.... right?
Here it is.
My friend and I are arguing who go the better laptop.
He says his HP Elite Book 8450w is better than my Envy 14 for Multi-media, and Research/Matlab/CUDA like applications.
I say that the E14 is better.
Here is what we are comparing.
$900 | E14: i5-450M, 4 GB RAM, 500GB 7200RPM HD, ATI 5650 1GB DDR3
$1450 | 8450w: i5-520M, 2 GB RAM, 320GB 5400RPM HD, NVDIA 880M Quadro 1GB DDR3
Who wins? (He wont believe me that my specs just tear his to shreds.) -
LoL I still have a estimated delivery of Jul 28, 2010 by 4:30 PM. Would be nice to get it earlier.
Fedex is just as bad as HP. The first time I called (when I didnt have a tracking #) they said it would be delivered on Monday the 26th. Called back again just to double check and they said they dont have a delivery going to my house. Called later and got the same response. Arrrrrrghhhhh
