*Quasi-Official ENVY 14 discounts, delays, "mine is shipping" lounge*

Another day, and order is still in production...

 

Ugh, mine is still in production too.

 

Mine also...August 2n't can't come fast enough

 

I'm not going to act like I was shocked to learn that corners were cut. However, the m11x is small and has amazing battery, a netbook that can play crysis, it's quirky in this regard. The e14 was supposed to be a premium laptop with a 7 hr battery and poop unicorns out of its screen. Unlike the m11x, it isn't living up to its selling points for a lot of people. HP figured out they could put a mediocre computer in a magnesium/aluminum chassis, put it in a heavy black box, tie a pretty bow around it, and charge $400 more than its performance line without even putting performance level components in it.

But seriously though, I really cant wait to get my hands on one. It's so shiny.

 

Most people are paying ~$1500 mostly because of the SSD and extra ram. With BCB, my config was less than $900 -_-

 

When I customized a DV6Tse with the same specs as my Envy 14 configuration, there was a $400 difference.
But the Envy still offers more...

 

You guys in the 30% BCB crowd got lucky!

I missed it (it was only available for a short time, was it not?), but it's not like I had the money together at the time.

Oh well, I'm happy with what I'm getting, assuming there are no problems with my Envy 14 when it arrives.

 

If there's any problems with my E14, I'm more than happy to exchange until I get one that is deemed perfect. After the 2nd return, I expect some form of compensation per return.

Hopefully it won't come to this.

 

haha the 30% BCB was live on the one day that i happen to skip my summer class and checked slickdeals in the morning. i was going to wait for professional reviews and then order the Envy but knowing that the slickdeals community would crash the servers in a few hours, i jumped and bought the Envy

Yeah I saw that Vaio Z on the Microcenter site but I decided against it because I needed a bigger HDD (although an SSD instead of a regular HDD would be nice) and I wanted a screen bigger than 13.3' so naturally the 14.5', 1600x900 was ideal for me. Plus 30% BCB helps out too

I agree, if the Envy doesn't meet my expectations then I will simply return it and take a look at the Vaio Z again. Unfortunately there just aren't that many notebooks (13.3'-15.6') with high end dual core processors and 1600x900 screens so I'm hoping the Envy works out for me.

 

Welps. Off to bed. Gotta go running in the morning then spend half my day apartment-hunting over a cup of tea.

 

It's sad that right now I don't have much more to do than wait on my Envy 14 to arrive.

I've already signed a lease on an apartment, classes don't start up for a couple weeks, girlfriend is out of town...

I guess I can always start packing stuff, as I'm sure after I get my Envy 14 I won't want to pack.

 

People are telling me to enjoy my free time. I've ordered both of Feist's Riftwar Saga books since I remember reading the first as child but never being able to obtain the second. I plan to breeze through both before the end of this week if not before next Monday.

Apparently my Envy 14, ordered on July 12, shipped July 22, estimated July 28 by 4:30pm, may be delivered today. It departed my local FedEx facility at 5am.

Too bad I don't go home until next week.

 

Ooh, that sucks. If I get lucky, we might receive our Envy 14s at the same time, heh.

Question: Did everyone's orders go directly from "order in production" to "shipped," or is there an intermediary step?

 

Ha well I received my email back from HP about my discounts, and wanting it it writing, so what did I get?

I just got an email stating everything that has happened on my account.

I clearly asked for 2 main things in my email:

1. The same discount others have been getting, and not a coupon
2. An email, stating in writing, that any discounts that I would receive would not affect my Bing Cash back.

I do not think I could have been any clearer, hell, the CS rep even quoted what I wanted. All I got was a summary of why I had received, which was a $50 credit, then the agent offered me a $50 coupon. I stated that I did not want the coupon to the agent on the phone, but it looks like they gave it to me anyways. I do not want a coupon canceling my BCB, so I told the rep on the phone that I did not want it as a coupon, but as a discount that would not affect my BCB, but she said it wasn't possible.

He then went on saying that he is happy that I chose HP.

The agent did not even answer my questions. I know what I was offered, so all he did was state the obvious. I gave 2 questions that I wanted answered, and they did not even get answered. What was the point in emailing them? I just wasted 5 minutes of my life typing an email to them, then another 30 seconds reading the crap they sent me.

This is so frustrating. I have not even received my laptop and this is the way I get treated. I do not even want to know how I will get treated once my 21 days to return this laptop is over. Once they have my money, I'm sure they will not be better than they are right now, because I still have an option to get all of my money back.

 

Mine left around 5am too. Problem is i think its going the wrong way! Theres only 1 flight thats leaving newark thats active atm and its going to freaking europe!

My Envy 14 is near, I can already smell it from my house.

Too bad my package was scanned two hours late (7:00 AM) since most of the time it should be scanned around 5:00 AM. I'm going to call FedEx and have it delivered tomorrow.

I was going to install the 720p video hack on my Nexus One, but it requires Android 2.1, and I'm running Android 2.2-- though they'll eventually port it to Android 2.2, I'm sure I'll already have my Envy 14 by then.

 

DOH! On the truck for delivery this morning, but forgot to leave my release note. Leave town tomorrow, otherwise I could have had it secured tonight. Guess it will sit at my door for 2 days now (luckily indoors).

Mine is on the Fedex vehicle for delivery. Pretty well ahead of schedule. Too bad I'm 13000 miles away.
