    Dead, or stuck pixel? I'll be honest, I've never seen a dead pixel in my life, they're usually stuck, and can usually be fixed.

    Hey I just called this number for HP 1-800-650-1544 to cancel my order and they offered my the $100 to keep the laptop and I asked her if it would affect bing cashback and she put me on hold for a couple minutes and she said it would cancel the bing. Was she lying about that?

    ran some tests on it, and with the i5-450, 6gb ram, 160 gb ssd

    no excessive fan noise, no cpu whine (i have really good hearing and can hear noises most cant on that test)

    palm rests are no warmer than any average laptop.
    screen size is great. Small enough to be portable, but big enough not to feel small.

    Also, I think QC kicked in now. No glue spots on mine, no keyboard flex, no loose joints. Top quality computer

    I looks like I have a stuck battery cover. The latch that holds it in is stuck!

    Somebody earlier had that problem a few weeks ago, eventually he pulled/pushed on it too hard and it broke off... :eek:

    Dead pixels are black and are only fixable by replacing the entire monitor.

    Stuck pixels are colored and are fixable by running software.

    Try this for a stuck pixel (make sure it runs for an hour or so... don't touch! :p )

    yeah it's definitely stuck. the latch goes less than half way before it stops. there was some sticky grime on the backside that collected lint from the pouch it was stored in. touchpad is off-centered slightly with the right side jotting out a bit

Was putting off for a coupon or discount (missed BCB) for the last month and ended up going to the beach last week with no wifi so had to opt for two day shipping to make sure it got here by the 14th. I'm hoping my build date gets moved back a couple days so I can raise all hell and try to get the two day shipping rate dropped to free shipping.

    Still no sign of my HP Envy 14. I placed my order on July 13th, with an estimated build date of Friday, July 23rd. Of course, that came and went with no news on my new laptop.

    I called HP Customer Resolution line this morning and asked for a status. I was pretty nice and friendly about the whole thing, and stated that I was surprised that it was taking so long for the laptop to be built, especially when I knew other machines were already shipping. I also mentioned that it looked like I wouldn't have the laptop in time for my upcoming business trip.

    The rep was really nice, and offered me $100 cash back and upgraded shipping. He even said it wouldn't go against my Bing cashback, which is nice.

    They seem to think it'll ship in the next day or two, but can't say for certain. I really hope the laptop lives up to the energy around its release though. Lots of people seem to be having problems with theirs, and that worries me. This laptop is replacing my Inspiron 700m from almost 7 years ago, and I want to make sure this laptop lasts me at least 4 - 5 years.

    Yeah I got an email 1 day after I called fedex (1-800-463-3339) . They can check your shipment using the address you put as shipping address when you ordered your envy.

    Also when/if you call the number above, just say "representative" and you'll be transferred to a live fedex person who can check your shipping info.

    I got the "your order has shipped" email from HP (even though it stills says "in production" on the site) and got the fedex tracking number.

    I didn't even ask for money! I just told the rep that I wanted to find out what was going on with my laptop, since they had given me a 7/23 build date, and that I was somewhat disappointed that the date came and went with no update whatsoever from HP. He immediately said "I'm so sorry for the confusion... can I offer you $100 to help improve your satisfaction and put a smile on your face?"

    Yeah, he actually said the part about putting the smile on my face, which was kinda nice, and kinda weird from a CSR.

    I called the Customer Resolution center though, which is a different number than the sales department IIRC. It's 1-888-227-8451. Very fast response, too... I was on hold for less than a minute before talking to a human being, and didn't have to sift through any confusing menus.
