Damn, Fedex dropped by and I wasn't home at the time. Estimated delivery was the 28th, so I'm grateful for the early deliveries.

The statistics say otherwise. Seriously, everyone needs to quit freaking out. It's crazy to think some of you people vote in elections..

 

there's a couple of nicks on the laptop edges, USB ports don't appear to be situated properly, there's a grimy residue along the sides, etc. i actually realized i dont have my SLR camera with me so i wont be able to take pictures. i'm just going to drop this off at fedex today.

Called HP to discuss my delay again and was able to get 100 back this time and the lady said delayed orders are automatically upgraded to 2 day shipping. I guess we'll find out if that is true soon. I asked them if this was the case many times before but they couldnt confirm it. I wish they would have that way I wouldnt of redirected my package.

 

That 2 day shipping is useless. I ordered standard shipping and got my laptop in 2 business days like most here.

 

Well my first one arrived in 4 business days. I think its really just a matter of how much time it sits around in china and how long in stays in customs. Also, your package was moved over the weekend was it not?

 

Just received mine! Though I'm not opening it yet, waiting for my cousin.

haha don't feel sorry for me. i realize my posts have been pretty negative so here's a bit more for neutrality:

my thoughts after spending for approximately 1 hour:
-touchpad is not as bad as i thought although it's rather sticky (caused resistance when dragging my finger)
-touchpad was not situated properly. the right side bottom corner sticks out a bit which u can definitely see and feel
-there are a couple nicks
-the hinges are made of plastic
-if you get sticky residue on the metal, you can easily remove it. however, because some of the residual stuff got onto the plastic hinges, it left some markings that i couldn't remove
-fan was on the entire time but it was a constant speed and therefore a constant noise

-the screen is amazing! it's very bright, almost comparable to a desktop monitor.
-the laptop does not wobble
-no cpu whine that i could hear

 

hey guys, looks like I'm going to be SOL waiting for bing cashback to come back. I had an order in on the 12th with 30% off, but decided to cancel and re-order with the SSD drive. Yet Bing CB hasn't come back like I had hoped. Where's the best place to keep an eye out for big HP coupons?

Anyways i can hear the whine in my previous computers so I will update if my 450M whines or not.

 

No fix for my dead/stuck pixel. I just received my return label and will be dropping it off today.

Ater playing with mine for about an hour, here are my initial impressions (nothing groundbreaking here)

1. Great fit and finish, though I've noticed a few minor imperfections on the left rear hinge and the right side. I have not tried to clean it off but the spots didn't come off wiping it lightly with my finger.

2. There is some definite flex in the keyboard....mostly around the center to right side. It's noticable but not annoying.

3. Boot time to windows was about 1 minute and shutdown was 20 seconds. No doubt due to bloatware and slow HD, I have the 320gb in currently. I have a few extra SSD's lying around and I'll probably slap a Intel G2 160GB in the next few days as I transition from my old laptop.

4. Screen was fantastic, best I've ever seen by far. No dead pixels but I'll have to get used to the glare.

5. No noticable whine, as of yet. I have the i5 450. The right side is getting warm. Fans have turned off and on, but they they aren't that loud.

Very happy with the purchase so far and GL to those still waiting the BCB shipment!

 

yea got mine too. problem is the fans are running at full speed the entire time. turned off "always on" on bios, but still running. anyone got any ideas?

 

Received mine today. The only issues I've noticed so far are a tiny bit of roughness/discoloration on the left side top lip of the metal bezel casing. I'm not so sure that it's stain per se, but missing a bit of the metallic finish instead. Very minor though. I see something else that may or may not be an issue... The screen has the rubber gasket surround. The rubber covers the panel everywhere except across the top, where I can see the edge of the panel & a tiny gap. Is anyone else's like that at the top?

 

True to form, HP's "delay" means mine probably is not going to ship before tomorrow, 7/27. I'll be calling them today to see how much of a refund I can get back, after I make my other phone calls. Hope you're all enjoying them so far!

I bet our laptops are already built and have been for some time. They are just waiting on the slice.

 

If that is the case, I would call them to confirm that is the case and tell them to ship the slice separately. There's no reason not to ship a notebook because of an accessory.

I just called and they said that I'm still getting standard shipping even though i got delayed! Are you kidding me? It's going to take forever to get here. They also said that once we order there's no way they can do 2 day shipping. How is that? They haven't even shipped yet so why wouldn't they be able to upgrade it to 2 day shipping?

Except the hp logo light on the back is not aligned properly..

Well im not positive that is the case but it sure seems that way looking at all the orders here that were delayed/shipped. I tried asking them on the phone and through chat which items they were lacking and they wouldnt tell me. At this time there isnt much point of requesting them to ship them seperately since its all suppose to ship tomorrow.

 

Yeah it is really retarded that they say that. Ive talked to hp many times since the delay notification and some have said we will automatically get our shipping upgraded while others gave me the same crap you just got.

The magic number for standard shipping seems to only be 4 days anyway.

 

To be honest, I wouldn't worry much about the two day shipping. They seem to come FedEx Express regardless anyhow.

 

Did you read what I said bellow. 2day shipping is just a gimmick to get more money out of you.

 

I just really want it by this week. It'd be BS if i got it next week. So, with "2 day" shipping it should be almost guaranteed that I get it by Friday.

I don't understand why so many of you are ahead of me in line...I ordered mine on July 4th for original shipment via 2-day on July 15th. Then got bumped via email to July 29th!!! I'm back on the phone w/ HP again today to check on status and the CSRs are clueless.

I'm hoping to redirect the shipment to where I will be on business on the 31st but am feeling pessimistic that it will actually work.

im thinking it should be at your local fedex by saturday. i dont believe they will deliver it on saturday but you should be able to go there and pick it up.

 

Mine is out too, but Fedex always delivers late to my house. I'm guessing it won't arrive for another few hours, though it's already been on the truck for 5 hours.
