*Quasi-Official ENVY 14 discounts, delays, "mine is shipping" lounge*

Same thing here. It was the 30th, then suddenly it updated and it was listed as the 3rd.

 

That is so not cool mine was supposed to ship out the 2nd...and of now...its still in production...

 

interesting thing i just noticed. it seems to be following almost the exact same pattern as my first one. so if it continues at this rate then in theory it should be delivered on saturday. however, fedex doesnt deliver on saturday so hopefully it should at least be at our local fedex available for pick up on saturday. if not saturday then i would assume it would have to be monday. why would they think we wouldnt get it until tuesday? then again, many people here received their laptop a couple days earlier than the original estimate did they not?

 

Are we able to pick up packages at FedEx facilities on Saturdays?

If so, and it gets there, I know exactly what I'll be doing, even if I have to drive an hour, or something.

 

thats the thing im not sure about. i would call my local fedex to ask but im at work right now. i would assume you can since they are still open on saturdays so as long as they actually have the package then i dont see why not. however, looking at the shipping process of my last one, all of the movement that package did in the states was on the last day so im not sure if they do all that on saturday.

 

now it says mine was received after the cutoff date too.

Decided to just go pick mine up from the Fedex facility last night. Outer box was slightly beat up, but everything inside was great. Only had an hour to check it out, but everything seemed to be fine...no imperfections. Fans weren't wailing away and no cpu whine that I could tell. However, I'm coming from a dying 7 year old Dell that weighs 10 lbs and fans are on constantly, so I think I will be pleased after I get some more time with it.

 

man i really hope this laptop comes in top notch quality. im just going to be way too busy in august to mess around with returns and waiting for a package.

 

I feel your pain - I'll be out of town for 11 days starting Thursday night. My 2-day shipping is quoting Friday as a delivery date. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's 4 days, not 2...

 

Maybe HP or FedEx will grant everyone 2-day shipping...

It's too late for that. HP's system is such that they can't even alter that while the laptop is in production, and FedEx has already accepted the packages with their current shipping methods, so they're not going to expedite them unless there's a major delay on their side.

 

Mine was supposed to arrive the 29th, but it got changed because it missed the cutoff.

It is now to arrive Friday July 30th before 10:30AM.

This does not look like 2 day shipping, but I can't complain. HP refunded my 2 day shipping already.

Oh well, as long as it does arrive by friday then I am good. Friday is the absolute latest it can arrive, so its leaving it pretty close

 

You'd think missing the cutoff and delaying for 3 days (from what I understand it's normally a delay of 1-2 days if a cutoff is missed) would count for something...

Regardless, in the last batch, didn't the 5-7 day shipping group and the 2 day shipping group get theirs' on the same day?

 

Mine was suppose to come on the 29th, checked my email this morning and it said it's already out for delivery...word. Just got starcraft 2 last night too...the planets are aligning ahaha.

 

2 day shipping is just a scam... everyone is getting theirs at roughly the same time, regardless of 5-7 day or 2 day shipping

Yes, HP refunded my 2-day shipping as well. At least, they claim they did, they also claimed to have processed 2 discounts totaling to $125 on the first Envy 14 I ordered, but they never posted in my account, even though it was almost 2 weeks from the time the computer shipped (and the discounts were processed) to the time I called to return it.

Nevertheless, after the shipping itself was delayed two business days, two-day shipping still only gets the computers to us when they should have arrived in the first place with regular shipping, so it's not like refunding our shipping was a particularly magnanimous move on their part, it's exactly what they should have done.

 

The laptop shipped (or was processed) at 6:30 this morning. I was credited with the discounts around 10:00 for the 2 refunds.

 

so are we basically waiting for a flight from shanghai to anchorage? anyone have it in them to look up the flight schedule?

How do you know you were credited with the discounts? Bank account? HP Order Status page? word of mouth from a shifty HP rep?

 

As far as I know, all FedEx flights from China go to Anchorage to handle customs and such.

From there it goes to a larger distribution center (Memphis is one on the east coast, I know) where I assume it is moved by truck to a local distribution center.

Just got mine this morning! Whee. Currently chipping away at the recovery media. Only thing to report is some keyboard flex, but I wouldn't even have noticed it without reading the reports here.

The chick-let style keyboard will take some getting used to. As for the the touch pad it reminds me very much of a Wacom board. It's very similar to the bamboo.

Working on a clean install of W7U once my back-ups are completed. Then on goes the software. I'll keep you posted and if I have some time upload some pictures.

Ours shipped today as well, but they're not due until August 3rd, while they were originally due July 30th.

 

I used 2-day shipping cause I needed it before August 9th to use it on the plane to Can Cun and at the resort . ETA July 30th.

Edit: I am sorely tempted to call up HP and give them a full congratulatory speech. I have a feeling though, that mine will come damaged...

It means you're in the same boat as the rest of us.

We (the 5-7 day shipping crowd) were scheduled to get our Envy 14s on July 30th, but then the Envy 14s all missed the plane. So now I guess they're sitting in Shanghai, China right now.

I guess you'll be getting yours on time though-- we're delayed until August 3rd, unless we get lucky and get ours on Friday as well.

 

Dang and blast, that means that A) the reps were lying to me when they said the applied the discounts on the first E14 (not an issue now since it's been returned and the price has been credited, but rather irritating nonetheless), and B) my shipping credit has not been issued for this one yet.

It seems the MO of HP's reps is to speak soothing words to keep our business, and then to fail to follow through with any of their promises. It certainly doesn't make me appreciate HP any more...

 

Hmm, I'm in a weird dilemma, I need some opinions from the NotebookReview board.

I have two Envy 14's, same specs, except one has 320 GB HDD and 1 Dim. 4 GB RAM stick----------->The other has 160 GB SDD and 2 Dim. 4 GB RAM.

Now, both have the annoying high pitch CPU Whine with i5-450M CPU. And from what I can tell, the SSD is performing at around the same speed as the HDD (only a few seconds faster). Now I'm confused as to whether or not I should return both, and get my 320 GB one replaced, or if I should keep the 160 GB SSD laptop and live with the whine.

I'm guessing if I return the SD Envy 14, my BCB will become invalid? Which means I'll have to pay $1500 out of my own pocket, whereas if I replace the 320 GB Envy 14, I would have only paid $800 (I got the $200 back when BCB was up).

I'm so confused....I've tried to stop the CPU whine from reading the first page in Owners Thread..but no success.

Not much HP can do about it now. It's all in FedEx's hands. We have to hope that due to the delay they'll expedite us, or something.

 

I checked this morning (5am PST) and my shipment was expected to arrive on the 29th by 10:30am and I know there's no way that would have been possible knowing it still has to leave Shanghai and then still go through customs.

I checked a short while ago and I also have the "Package received after FedEx cutoff" notice and my estimated delivery is now July 30 by 10:30am. I opted for 2-day shipping so lets see if mine actually arrives by Friday.

 

i am SOOOOOOOOOOOO pissed off.

So after the Fedex Guy couldn't find my house, i got a note from my neighbor saying i have to go to fedex and pick up a package. i live about 1 hr away from the nearest one and its 5:00

I get in the store 6:01... get served at 6:05.

The f*cking girl tells me im 5 minutes late and they wont let me pick up anything. So i have to wait until tomorrow.

 

Ouch, that sucks.

 

I think I found our flight, but do not know when it will depart from shanghai.

The Fedex (FDX 83) flight is scheduled to arrive in Shanghai at about 10:20pm EST.

I am guessing it will leave tomorrow morning, around the same time as the flight left today.

Using logic, the plane should arrive in Anchorage Wednesday afternoon, with my laptop making it to it's destination on Friday (which is the ETA).

Looking at the past flights, the plane seems to arrive at anchorage, then arrives back at Shanghai the next day, so Hopefully this plane will keep on track and head to Anchorage tomorrow, then it will make its way back to Shanghai this time tomorrow for the next pickup
