I wonder what fedex does differently for 2 day shipping. I have a feeling 5-7 day'rs won't get their till at least monday.

I just hope mine passes customs fast, since its already at 3 days instead of 2 cause it missed the plane today.

 

I'm wondering that too. I'm just disappointed that I didn't get upgraded to 2 day shipping, unless I get it by Friday.

 

I am thinking they go through customs differently, with more people checking items, thus our extra money goes to paying for the extra employees

 

E14 came in today. On recovery disc 2 of 4.

So far everything I've checked looks good. Minimal keyboard flex, no cpu whine, optical drive isn't making any funky noise, no scratches/ dents, battery door was easy to open, and the HP logo is straight. Haven't yet checked audio out, the speakers, or any of the ports.

mines has 3 tiny scratches on the edges of the bottom but i cant complain. im on recovery disc 1, i also haven't tried out the audio

 

so after a day of playing around with my new Envy, I finally noticed the cpu whine. it feels more like a mini screech than a whine. as long as my music/laptop cooler is on, it doesn't bother me. however... when i'm trying to study quietly... it can get annoying. not enough of a reason for me to RMA of course

 

my laptop was stolen by fedex driver! will I still qualify for bing if hp resends me another one??

 

Called up customer support, they guaranteed me that since I have two-day shipping, I'll get it by Friday.

Else, I'll get it free with a full refund. HA! I wish

 

Wow HP... Just wow... I called them about my 3rd delay and they told me that I could have free 2 day shipping. I got my shipping confirmation today and it was for 5-7 days and of course I called HP... Upon doing so, they told me that they could not do anything about it now that it was already in transit... Ughhhh.... So madddd

 

Mine shows up on tracking, but is, like many of yours "missing the plane" due to a "shipment exception" in Shanghai. Great job, HP and FedEx. I'm glad I ordered 2 day shipping, but with yet another delay (Shipped the 27th, expected to come in the 30. Original ship date, 22nd) I'll need to see if they'll refund shipping. I wanted to actually see it ship before I call.

While we're all waiting, for those that have their Envy, is there anyone with a quad core (preferably, the 840, but any quad will do) experiencing the CPU whine?

 

Argh upon closer inspection, I noticed scratch marks where you placed your wrists and the edge of the laptop mark. They're not big, but it's discolored - specks of gold where everything else is silver.

Furthermore, the touchpad is not flush with the surface; it's raised on the left and right side the most. Furthermore, it's not centered. One user also documented the problem; there's a half mm gap between the right side of the touchpad and the laptop allowing you to see into the laptop (I see what appears to be some copper strips).

I might decide to exchange this laptop after i make my recovery discs and play around some more.

 

So far, it seems like that is isolated to the i5 processors, mainly the 450m's. I'm hoping this is true because I ordered the 520m but only time will tell. I think I read where 1 user with the i7 had the whine and was able to fix it

uh oh, my envy has arrived, but the reality that i can't check it for any defects personally is making me rather nervous/excited. i have to wait to hear the news second hand, and that over chat, but i suspect that will completely kill any suspense whatsoever.. plus the fact that i can't do anything about it, such as start playing with it if it's good or throwing it against.. the bed if it's bad

Wow, everyone who was shipped on 07/27 w/ standard shipping... our Envys have just been sitting their the whole day. Wasting time -.-

 

I ordered yesterday with HPA and MrRebates combined (I chatted for an hour with an HP support assistant, but we couldn't find any rules that would not allow using these two discounts together), but my order is "Pending" since then..

I am confused, what could be the problem? Anyone else had such an experience?

so guys a question, if i am in the uk and ship the envy to a US shipping address can i still pay using a uk credit card.

Early adopters of the envy 14 saved 100 bucks If you want the radiance screen you have to fork up an extra 100 to your grand total . so glad I bought mine 3 days ago

 

Ouch. $200 cost to upgrade from 720p to 900p.

Though for the 1.2% of NBR who want a 720p 14" screen, you can save $100

Where is it suppose to be sent to? IE what's it's final destination?

It is probably just a glitch, because on the Fedex site, it says in transit in Shanghai (but I don't know where it would be going), but on simple tracking, it says its in Korea.

I don't know what to believe, there are not any scheduled fedex departures from either airport.

 

Maybe the pilot had to make an emergency stop =T. And it appears that simpletracking is a much better tracking site than fedex. You can attempt to find the plane that your E14 is suppose to be on through Flightaware. Just note what time your E14 left and from which airport.

 

Is your ETA still the 30th?

 

I think fedex planes aren't scheduled to depart at a specific time, so I do not see any planes. The only fedex plane I saw was at Shanghai which arrived last night around 10:30.

I hope my package is still there, and it leaves today.

What is your status according to FedEx?

I've been "in transit" as of almost exactly one hour ago, though it is still listed as being in Shanghai, China.

Maybe it's on a plane but hasn't updated yet. If it's not, I don't see any way they'll be getting the 2 day shippers' Envy 14s here on time.

 

check simple tracking. Mine says it left Korea.

So looking at that "Left FedEx Ramp" can either mean it jumped on a plane, or got moved somewhere else via other means.

That being said, according to SimpleTracking, my package "Left FedEx Ramp" in Shanghai, China just a little over an hour ago.

Edit: As of about 40 minutes ago from the time of this edit it again went in transit and "Left FedEx Ramp."

 

it's supposed to stop in south korea.

it goes from shanghai to korea to airport to alaska to...wherever your routing place in the us is. to your local fedex place to your home

From the last batch I was under the impression they went directly to Alaska for customs.

Still, no updates on mine since this morning.

 

shipped mine off to be fixed today. HP gave me one year total care warranty for the problem and it will be shipped with over night shipping. I hope to have it back next week.
