*Quasi-Official ENVY 14 discounts, delays, "mine is shipping" lounge*

Well, beyond a failed recovery media burn (goddammit I was using a flash drive! how could it fail???) I have had no problems.
This is a beautiful machine

 

Ever since I received my E14, I haven't been following this thread. But here I am again. I called tech support about the whining and they said I could exchange the laptop. Now I jump back into the waiting game.

They also bumped me up to 2 day shipping. Aren't they kind? (Sarcasm)

They're going to refund the price for the exchange when they ship or when they receive my old E14. I forget which.

I just said screw it with the recovery disks. I'm plenty skilled, and I don't think I'll ever want to restore to that bloated HP install. I'm not sure why people want to use that.

I've had my Envy maybe 2 hours and I burned a Windows 7 DVD and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Enterprise.

Everything so far is working great, save the mute button LED. Installed the HP software, but it still doesn't seem to work. Oh well, I can figure it out later.

 

My Envy seems to be in perfect condition except for some minor scratches on the bottom.

I installed 7 pro off of a disc I got about 5 months back from my school's MSDN program.
I deleted the recovery partition and the main partition.
I now have two boot options: "Windows 7" and "Windows 7"

First one finishes setup, second one causes a BSOD

 

HP: "BY TOUCHING THE COMPUTER YOU COULD HAVE CORRUPTED THE BITSTREAM FLOWING BETWEEN THE USB CONTROLLER AND THE HARD-DRIVE!! DO IT AGAIN!"

I believe this should work:

Hit: start
type: MSCONFIG
Go to the boot tab
Delete the second Windows 7 in the list

anyone know where I can get a fedex door tag online and print it out? or can I just write a note and sign my name?

 

Everything is moving along well I believe, but can anyone confirm if the problem where booting the Envy (fresh Windows install, or Linux) without the charger plugged in and thus, on battery, means that the CPU will not utilize turbo boost nor throttle up to maximum speed if need be?

Yay, just ordered mine finally. Estimated build/ship date is August 12th, which means with any luck I'll get mine a week before classes resume. Still a bit miffed about the $100 increase on the Radiance screen, but I still think it's worth it - otherwise I'd just get a Lenovo Y460 or Asus N82JV or something like that.

Thanks to all in these threads with their mostly encouraging, positive feedback on their laptops. (I don't really care about any whine/slight gaps/minor build quality issues that people like to harp on.)

Edit: Woah, it's been 35 minutes and still no confirmation email >.<. Not exactly inspiring confidence, HP, but I guess maybe the transaction hasn't gone through yet.

 

Unless you don't like to study in quiet, you'll notice the whine if you got it. I thought I could just tune it out but unfortunately I couldn't and had to exchange it. Too bad it's telling me that ship date is 9/19 (?). But my reorder has been accepted and I expect it to drop to factory soon.

 

Now that nearly all of my issues are sorted out (the second boot entry vanished after letting windows update loose) this is a great laptop. WEI gives it a 6.9
I have two issues left: multi-finger tap to click is finicky and hard to pull off successfully without accidently left clicking as well (I'm using the modified two finger scroll executable) and the lack of a fake numpad (Ill solve this myself... I know how but I don't feel like coding this early/late)

Do either of the alternate Synaptics drivers have multitouch tap-to-click options?

 

Ordered my Envy last Tuesday, I woke up to an email saying that its ready to be shipped!!!

They are way ahead of schedule, my estimated build date was the 9th. +1 HP

im happy to report i have finally received and opened my envy 14 and it seems to be in near perfect condition. there was black gunk on it but it rubbed off. it actually feels more sturdy than my first one.

 

According to FedEx mine has been picked up and is sitting in Shanghai. Estimated delivery is the 6th. Hopefully paying for 2 day shipping helps expedite the process.

Right below the purple bar graphic that states "In Transit", it states "Shipment exception" SHANGHAI CN. Does this mean that something has gone wrong? From past experience, whenever I see "exception" when tracking UPS packages, something has gone wrong.

when you get a clearance delay coming into Alaska, and when it lasts more than 2 days is when you gotta go "aww crap HP screwed up the paperwork. again."

Well I sent mine in for an exchange on July 29 and they told me my estimated ship date would be August 17. That seems awfully long considering they already confirmed my return credit on the 30th for my old Envy 14. It has been in production for the past couple days though and hopefully that means it will be done before the estimated ship date.

 

Keep me updated if they price matched the new Envy, otherwise I'll have to raise hell.

 

They gave me $100 off right away but said they don't have a coupon for the other $16 and said that they will credit me back that amount when it is shipped. So to answer your question/statement, yes they did price match for the exact same configuration.

Im in the same boat (just 2 days behind). The HP Home and Office person on the phone said that 3-4 days are built into that date to allow for you to ship it back to them, if you did it in 1 day (as i did), combine that with the free 2-day shipping, I would expect it to be at you house by the expected "build date."

Yep that happened to me. I sent my RMA in the 20th (got it the 19th) and my Estimated Build Date was August 9th. It actually shipped out July 27th and arrived at my house the 30th.

Too bad I left for vacation on the 28th and wont be home til the 9th to actually check it out. Hopefully nothing is wrong with it this time.

 

Okay so FedEx said my laptop would be delivered on August 5th, but it actually came today (missed it =/). Called FedEx and asked them if I could come pick it up today, and they said I could, only that the truck carrying my laptop is expected to return to the center at 7:00pm. The only problem is that the center closes at 7:00pm . Hopefully they did as I asked and will keep the package at the center so I can pick it up tomorrow.

 

Got an email that says the laptop has shipped! Hope it comes soon!

 

Yay, I RMA'd my laptop for another on July 28th and I was given an estimated ship date of August 26th but it shipped today. Yay for being 21 days early..I even got free 2 day shipping since I complained so much.

 

I RMA'd on the 29th and I too got a confirmation email that says my order has shipped. This is much better then the August 17th build date, since it says my order will be delivered by August 9th.

 

Nice!!! Mine shipped today too!!!! Exchanged mine and now its coming sooner than expected! My estimated build date was August 17th. Hope its perfect this time... lol.

Hey, I'm from the UK and really want an Envy 14, but over here they don't have the 1600x900 radiance display. I'm travelling quite a lot to the US and I've got a few friends who are at college in the US and could get them to get one for me. I was just wondering, how much is the student discount?
