Student Discount and Coupons

is it cheaper to go with the EPP discount (student discount) or the coupon?

 

The discount is dead ....i used my student discount instead but had to cut back on the goodies

 

I today bought a HP Pavilion dv6500t Special Edition laptop with below config.I tried the student discount + code NB2749 valid till 8/25 but it didn't work .Then i just entered NB2749 and got $295 off + tax as my state has tax +free shipping.

Add what you built to cart first and I believe you also have to log in.

somebody once told me the coupon code goes on the page where you enter your credit card info.

ya just below the credit card info u will find a space where u can add the coupoun code and the u can see the change in price, then put credit card to pay

 

since the 20% off coupon states "this coupon expires 8/25/07" does this mean it expires at midnight on the 24th? or midnight the 25?

I'm going to be buying a DV9500T soon and they have a $150 instant savings rebate that is automatically taken off the laptop. Is this $300 coupon on top of regular offers they have for the laptops? Also, can this coupon be used with the Student Discount as well?

Also, where do you guys look for the coupons for the HP Laptops? I'm just trying to find the best price I can on the laptop because money is tight, but I want to make sure I get the best I can for my money because laptops aren't easily upgradeable.

Also, since the coupon code is put in the same time as the credit card, if the coupon doesn't go through or something do they still charge your credit card, or does it error up and let you change it before it charges your credit card?

It needs to be the White Special Edition. The coupon doesn't apply for the regular, black dv6500t.

 

Gotcha...thanks...bummer. Although I would guess the white would not show fingerprints as bad as the black.

Not web direct that I know of but, you can do so as a group purchaser member. Lawyers can get a 10% discount through a trade association. Call HP business and ask if a you can qualify somehow, I am sure lawyers are not alone Dell does similar stuff.

You have to do this direct and offer some documentation.

 

If you are a college student, you can probably ask for an up to 12% discount, at least in the US (which is what I plan on trying with the 8510p later in the week when I order).

 

let us know how this goes, because I would like to do this also, once I get my paycheck.

 

I ordered my dv6500t yesterday. Signed up for APP and got about 16% discount (with instant rebate). Probably would've been less had my specs been higher.

When you use a online coupon it will negate all other rebates and the student discount, not counting special offers such as a free upgrade or money off on individual parts when customizing the laptop.

I just noticed this:

The 30% coupon doesn't give you money off of the warranty. I just went and configured another laptop with the warranty and without the warranty and the total discount for each with the 30% coupon was $599.40.

So If you want to save even more money do this:
If you can use the student discount order the warranty separate and you will get the extra percent off that the student discount offers.

Is the 30% off dead? I just had it working and was very soon to making a purchase and now when I enter the code NB3009 it reads "The coupon you entered is invalid."

WOW. There were a number of people complaining about this. So, I just tried to add the 30% coupon by configuring a notebook exactly as I ordered and I get a message stating that it's invalid. I think HP stopped the coupon or something. Whew, glad I ordered mine on the 10th.

That really sucks if you can't get use the coupon. Just to make sure, is your configuration over $999 excluding the instant rebate?

Edit: HP might have screwed up over 2 coupons: 20% and 30%. The former's expiration date is 9/12 while latter is 9/22 - so 20% may have been swapped with 30%. I just checked and the 20% discount works fine, but 30% doesn't. Well, this is my assumption - I could be wrong... I hope you guys get your 30%!

Check out post #36. Apparently, HP has run into some trouble... They better stay with 30%! I ordered on the day the coupon was out.

 

My config was $1400+ before instant rebate/30% off. Hopefully they add it again sometime soon.

 

Enter it in in caps. It tried in lower case and got the same message.

It doesn't work anymore. HP stopped it because they were losing too much money. Worked for me though.

Not at the moment - and I highly doubt there will be cause all their coupons so far have been 'excluding HDX or for Pavs only" etc.

 

Although, even if there was a coupon......why would you want that overpriced thing?? Starts at like 3k!!!! A 30% off coupon wouldn't even make it comparable in price to other high end laptops. I was about to order a laptop for $2100 (until I decided I didn't want to spend that much) - 17" wsxga+, 8700 gt 512 mb, 4gb ram, 160gb hd, blue tooth, agn card, etc
