I'm not really sure if they are coming out Monday...
In the news I read they all seemed to point out that they would be up for preorder sometime like a week before release and we haven't seen any of that.
-
They can't pre-order anything under NDA.
-
Hey, that was just what I read! -
and the 3Dmark06 score proves the GT 650m GDDR5 will be a nice card considering it's as fast as GTX 560m -
Hmmm... no backlit keyboard in the pictures? Is there confirmation that it will be an option?
-
Looks nice.. though not a fan of the chrome surrounding the outside perimeter of the laptop.
My current notebook had that setup and it chips fairly easily. Hopefully it's made better. -
Wow that's good news! I didn't see that topic...Thanks for the info!
I hope they launch worldwide with Ivy Bridge! -
i was hoping they'd launch with sandy bridge + new nvidia gpus on april 8th .... I really don't care about ivy bridge. le sigh
-
-
When Ivy takes off then Sandy will drop in price. -
Just a bit more info...
You have seen this right?
I'm not italian but I'm pretty sure the man at 0:15 says they'll be available in Italy in the first day of May...
Is there any italians that can confirm that's what he said? -
So will these be available in the US tomorrow or at least go up for preorder? Or is that probably not till the beginning of May as well?
-
I'm guessing either tomorrow or the 29th. Tomorrow is the paper launch and the 29th is the retail launch, so it could be either.

"the HP Pavilion dv6 is expected to be available in Singapore from 29 April at a starting price of SG$1,299. Local pricing and availability for the HP Pavilion dv7 will be announced at a later stage. As for the specs, we have not yet to receive information on this and will share this with everyone once we receive it."

I just got word that HP is extending all of their current coupons that were set to expire on 4/24 to 4/29 expiration instead. It would seem that HP Singapore and HP U.S. are on the same release schedule and we should now expect the 28th/29th as the date to be able to buy.
One more week still... -
Would the coupons be valid for when the dv6 ivy gets released .?
If not after how much time would we see the coupons back .?
I wanna buy a good deal for dv6 with coupons ... -
-
-
-
OK, need some advice, should I wait for these new models to go onsale and if they do have coupons buy these? Or wait for these new models and purchase the older models IF the there is huge price drop?
I really need to get rid of my DM3, it's way too slow, and the tax refund is burning me.What to do? What to do?
-
Ugh. First I wait until April 8th, then nothing. Then I wait all the way until April 23rd, and still nothing. The wait is killing me I haven't been able to game at all for more than a month now since I returned my DV6z.
-
-
This is only my opinion based on the current DV6t which I currently own and am typing this message on. While a great laptop, there are a few things it missed off the mark and the newer models look like a definite improvement.
I myself am currently within the 21 day return period so if everything goes according to plan, I'll exchange this model with a new DV6, price concerns not withstanding. -
I don't mind purchasing the Sandy Bridge machines, but I don't want it to kill my budget and or be a total dud like my DM3 neither. I'm planning on spending about $700, give or take another $100 for taxes and such.
I don't have any preference over graphics chips, but the I've always used Intel chips and do not want to move away, considering an i7 over an i5 just to be safe and future proof.
Just an estimate, would these current models go down considerably or just low enough where they'll clear inventory slowly over time?
Thanks again. -
As for the second part of your comment, most likely just low enough to clear inventory.Attached Files:

So won't there be any coupons 30-35% available on launch of the new dv6 .??

HP Pavilion dv6 (Core i7 3720QM Processor 2.6GHz, 8GB RAM) Review - Notebooks - CNET Asia
Review with the ivy bridge and the GT 650. Note that the CPU with that model is higher then the standard 2.3 GHz most of us will be buying.
Edit: back-lit keyboard is confirmed. -
-
either ways this looks like it can be next laptop if the price is right
I hope this model will be available in my country
backlit keyboard + 1080p matte + medium BF3@1080p average 37fps is enough for me
although I wouldn't mind it on 768p as well
can't wait to replace my aging "Oven"
quick question, the game FPS samplies on Notebookcheck. how do we know at which resolution they were tested? for instance http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-560M.48313.0.html it says Battlefield 3 Medium 48.3-49.3 at which resolution is that? -
Battlefield 3 "Medium" is 1366x768, medium preset, no AA and 4xAF. Not bad but I plan to overclock the GT 650m so I could play 900p high or 1080p medium smoothly. -
hmm, this is strange then, how come it scores a bit higher on 3Dmark11 yet have much lower FPS on BF3 then? GTX 560m has 37fps on high yet GT 650m has only 38fps on medium? doesn't sound right. I still say they tested it @1080p with medium settings since they mentioned: (and also it says on the table 1920X1080p for the HP 1366X768 for the comparing Acer)
"Comparing the dv6 against the Acer M3, which packs a slightly slower GeForce GT 640M, we found that the dv6 was unsurprisingly the faster chip in benchmarks such as 3DMark11. However, since it's running at a higher 1,920 x 1,080-pixel resolution (1,366 x 768-pixel for the Acer), the dv6 could find itself struggling to produce similar frame rates in more intensive games such as Battlefield 3. "
I hope this was the case -
-
-
I guess it boils down to the price and availability on my side, since in my country the most imported notebook is HP, there are others too but they are overpriced, hopefully I can get it in early May -
So, are the new models confirmed for the 29th? The CNET review of the dv6 looked great by the way.
I know I've asked this before but, how is HP with exchanges? -
And i hate to be pessimistic about it, but remember how they said their will be non ivy bridge models released first around the 8th... ya that didn't happen yet. -
Talked to an employee in BestBuy (Canada) today. Said he wasn't sure when HP was going to send them the new dv6's, he said it was all up to HP, whether they want to clear out the old models first, and when they'll start actually sending units to retailers, etc. He mentioned it could be as late as June until they get any.
I looked at the current dv6, a model with the 7690M XT and a 1366 x 768 display. Given a budget, I think I could make do with the non FHD display - I'm currently getting by on 1280 x 800, and the slightly extra width is actually nice, despite the decrease in height.
I like the outgoing dv6 overall, though there's definitely a lot of flex on the screen near the hinge, and these ridiculous bilingual keyboards just plain suck, shrinking the left shift key (as well as enter) is terrible for typing and gaming.
Can't wait to play around with the new models in store. -
Is it just me or did they already release drivers for the newer models:
HP Pavilion dv6-7000 Entertainment Notebook PC series- Download drivers and software - specify product name - HP Business Support Center -
-
-
HP is already releasing updates to the initial drivers...and these notebooks aren't even ready for purchase yet. -
-
-
-
So, I'm pretty sold on these new dv6 models, they have everything I'm looking for and then some it seems. But I have to ask, what have folks here been comparing it to, is there something else coming out that gets close on specs? Main things I'm looking for are the 650m, 1080p, and blu-ray, doesn't seem like there's much to offer all of those.
-
anyone think a touchscreen has any hope on a HP Pavilion in this upcoming gen? Seems like Windows 8 could benefit from that.
-
Another option is the clevo/sage/malibal.
