Waiting on Envy 17 3D thread...

Just got the email for 15% off next order. Really, HP?

 

Ok, I just spent around 50 minutes back and forth with HP and talked to a supervisor.

First thing according to him is that the 10% discount is only for people who did not use a discount, people who used a discount can not get a discount on the item watsoever.

Second thing is that all items will be changed to 2 day shipping due to the delay. I believe he knows what he is talking about cause he seems to know a lot about this model delay.

Third thing is that the component missing(didnt tell what) will be in stock by next week, so he is saying that he is sure that the laptops will be shipped out next week and not the 29th.

After all this bullsht i dont know how much we can trust the hp service people but that's all the info I got from the supervisor.

 

Do you think this means anyone who's envy has been delayed will be shipped 2 day shipping? Do we need to call?

Oh yeah my 12th delivery was delayed to the 18th.

 

Is that right? Did you guys who got the 10% off not use the $400 coupon?

 

I think the supervisor said that all will be changed to 2 day shipping....

AND something I just figured out is that with the 15% coupon and the education pricing ANY1 can get over 400$ off the envy 17 3d series if it is over 1700 original price. I only customized mine to 1700$ so its the same for me, if any1 customized over 1700$ you will get better deal if use coupon and HPA then cancel the first order. 1800$ becomes 1376 instead of 1400, the higher price the more off. Just thought its interesting. I guess that is the limit price hp will accept which is why they cant do 10% after 400$ coupon

 

Everyone should call and raise hell. You bet I will if they delay my order at all.

I ordered the basic config with the 9cell battery as the only upgrade. If you're got pushed later than mine, it must be due to a component you ordered that is backordered further...

I ordered standard config all the way. When I ordered I used a $50 off coupon so when the $400 off came out I called. At that point they gave me $100 off but would not do any more.

Then when shipping got delayed I called and got the 10% off. So grad total off is $300. The $400 coupon folk still come out ahead on the deal.

 

so u got 2 coupon stacked then, although not over 400$.

I guess then 400$ ish is their max on discount, the cant stack coupon is just an excuse.

 

Windows 7 Pro is my only upgrade.....

 

My guess is that the delays being experienced have everything to do with the 3D tech and nothing else. I placed an order for a regular Envy 17 (the one I returned) in late October and it took 5 business days from the day I placed my order to the day I received the machine. It was not the standard config either, I had the 8GB RAM upgrade.

I don't see people complaining of delays on the non-3D 17" model either. It seems to be specific to the 3D components.

 

Ok so not sure if anyone here knows but I ordered mine from Costco. I basically upgraded everything. I called Costco and they said the ship date was the 17th. I will call them back on the 17th to confirm but if it's been delayed do I have the recourse some of the rest here have mentioned to get 10% back or would I have to cancel and then order directly from HP.com? I assume I would have to order directly but wanted to see if anyone else has the same situation.

Also people have mentioned a coupon code. Is that still valid and does anyone have it?

If people are saying the $400 coupon was the max discount and getting a 10% on top of that was not possible.....

Imma ask for a free charger.

 

Just talked to customer support...they said the order is ready and will be picked up by Fedex tomorrow...will let you know how it goes....

 

they all say that till a delay notice comes

 

What I wanna know is why is HP taking orders and taking people's money if they cant deliver the goods? There's obviously no laptops to be shipped. I sense a class-action suit coming on.

What an odd review. I'm not even sure this person even has an Envy 17 3D in their possession, yet they managed to string together enough incoherent sentences to create a 7 page review. There are no benchmarks or pictures or anything, just weird category scores like "Ultra Gamer raing of 95.7098%" and "86.4914 % in the 86.4914 % Ultra Power assesment"...oh, and a "Big & Beautiful rating of 0 % and comparing value for money to other Big & Beautiful laptops we give it 1 %", yet it scored an 89% overall.

 

Well said. I was thinking along the same lines. Odd at best.

I too thought that review was extremely weird.

 

Happier now. Got a 15% coupon for a later purchase, and thought, "Oh well, good enough." Then my customer service helper emailed me that I would also get my $100 credited back to my card after the notebook shipped, so that's $500 off total with the original coupon. Willing to wait another week now. Unfortunately won't be getting 2 day shipping.

not sure if others have had much succes getting the extra $100 after also using the $400 coupon. I just reminded them in my conversations that I've bought several HP notebooks directly from them in the past (spent maybe $3000 over the last 4 years), had them look up my history with them as a reliable customer, and told them this was the worst experience I've had with them. So maybe buyers with a history shopping with HP will have better luck getting a credit?

 

strange rating system. would like to have seen video footage of games being played, reports on framerates with 3d on and off, etc. Really not helpful at all in my opinion.

 

Yea I agree the review was strange. I only Linked it because I am so desperate for any news on this.

I think the review was a bunch of cobbled together news snippets.

 

i think thats kind of weird that if they did that because you bought a lot from them. the reason we ask for discount is because of the delay and not because of how much was purchased or even used a coupon at all. Another excuse I guess. I called like 3 different times and got like 3 different excuse, one being that cant do discount because they cant credit back when the item is not shipped, another being that they cant stack coupons, and the last being that the item is not on a sale right now so cant compensate.....all brainless excuses they seem.

Btw any1 got 10% off on top of the 400$ yet? some1 in this thread said they will or something.

 

No, it's not just the 3D ones. I ordered a non-3D one, and it got delayed too.

 

I agree, I think the inconvenience of waiting a month for a notebook is a big deal. I just threw my frequent buyer weight around to help this rep know they should strive to keep me happy.

Eta on shipping is now 11/22.

my order was on the 1st. new estimate is the 29th... with 5-7 day shipping more than a month long wait. extra $100 off and 15% coupon for later have pacified my rage... that, and my awesome macbook air that i'm having fun with.

 

Sounds like my original ship date of 11/30 wasn't an exaggeration after all.

 

I emailed Engadget about this debacle. Maybe they'll place a few calls to see what the real issue is and give it to us straight with some pressure from the Media.

 

Nothing will work, the people at HP customer service just suck. Every damn time i call i get a different response. Now it even got more ridiculous, even the supervisors are telling different things. One yesterday told me shipment is upgraded to 2 days and they will have the missing component by next week and this one today is saying shipment dont change and earliest time to ship is the 29th. What a fat joke!

I give up on calling or dealing with hp, I will just wait until i get the laptop, play a little with it and return it back if any problem occured Time to look for a second choice!

 

^^ If I get that treatment I'm going to do the same thing you are.

Play with it for 20 days, then return it. I don't care if I fall in love with it, not giving my money to a company that does this.

 

hehe, one thing I learned is that not to buy a customized pc anymore, too much hassle.

o and one thing i found out is that the Dell new XPS series are also experiencing a delay. And the rep from dell told them that it was because of shortage in backlit keyboard, wonder if it can be the same problem with the envy line too.

EDIT: hmm something must be going on with the suppliers of a component, I just checked more and now that HP envy line, Dell XPS line, AND Alienware Line are ALL delays.... wonder whats causing this.

 

So, while we wait...I've been searching for a decent alternative to the Envy, in case this doesn't work out, but I'm having difficulty finding anything that provides comparable performance for a comparable price. My most important needs are a 17" screen, 1920X1080 resolution, and a discrete graphics card. Bluetooth is desirable, and something in the general realm of $1000 is my target price. Systems that meet those specs seem to be few and far between. I have found one, however, that has a similar price and comparable specs:

What are your thoughts on this laptop? How does it stack up to the Envy 17? I can't seem to find many reviews on the Vaio EC, aside from the Engadget one.

Evny 17 3D finally starts shipping today for those who first pre-order on October and they had an original shipping date of November 5th.

 

I ordered on Oct 27th Original ship date of Nov5th. Delayed ship notice for Nov 19th. Actual ship date Nov 17th.

Unit is coming from China and FedEx says delivery on Nov 23rd.

HP did not change shipping method to 2 day.

Good news is I already received my $100 off and 10% off credit.

Bad news is I won't be home on the 23rd or 24th!

my first order was placed on the 27th, but i cancelled and re-ordered to use the $400 coupon on nov. 1st... still rather have the $400 off than get mine a week sooner.

 

Called in today, was transferred to India.

Total call time was 40min. Talked to a supervisor that would not budge......kept going at it until I was offered $75 dollars off........I pushed some more and was given a free slim power adapter worth $99, which I am happy with.

The thing is that they charged me $99 on my card and said that they will refund it later......yeah hope that goes through.

Yes. 1200 + $70 tax I think.

Err org price is 720, 6gb, 500 7200. No upgrades just stock.

 

i see, either you met a better supervisor or you know how to argue with the hp people,hehe.
