Thanks for the email address, WickedYeti! I noticed, however, that this is simply the reply-to email address that comes with the delay of shipment notice. So all you have to do is just reply to that email. I'm trying that now...we'll see how it goes.

No email yet. This is the third self-imposed HP deadline that they have now missed. Absolutely atrcious customer service.

I'm sorry to hear about you guys. HP definitely seems to be all over the place as far as orders go. I placed this order on 11/11 so technically has been 9 days. If it makes its 11/24 deadline, which remains to be seen, I would have waited a total of 13 days. I have no idea if my background issue (this is a replacement order for a non 3D envy that turned out to be a lemon) had anything to do with it -doubt it- but some of the wait times you guys have and are experiencing are ludicrous.

I'm hoping to see mine here Friday instead of next monday.

Hi people, I just registered for this site after googling: "Has anyone received their HP Envy 3D?" LOL :p I ordered mine on November 17 with expected build date of December 2, 2010. I have a couple of questions.

    1. I know people metioned the $400 discount. I googled it, and from what I understand it has already expired? Was this coupon only god on November 2, 2010? Otherwise, I was going to call HP and ask if they can take some mroe off the price which I already paid. I did not use a coupon, only haggled to get at most $150 off, and like $40 off accessories. Let me know if I should argue back, or its not going to help.

    2. From what I understand, only unpilot has received his Envy 3D and I noticed did a review which I'm about to read. Did anyone see this link on HP's site...?

HP Communities - ENVY 17 3D Takes Gaming Seriously with TriDef 3D I... - HP Communities

Basically its about How to Enable 3D Stereoscopic Gaming. I'm just a little confused, did HP not make it 3D ready to go from the box? Do we really have to download all these drivers and engines to make it work? Bahhh, I hope I'm just over reacting and its no biggie. Maybe I'll post this question to unpilot since he already is playing with his, lmfao. ;)

Sorry to post same thing again, but about the $400 coupon...was it only good for Nov 2, or is this still going on? Just need to know since I ordered my Envy 3D only a few days ago, but haggled for a discount...about $150 and some $40 in accessory. Should I call back and ask for more money back, thanks.

Hi, I am new to this forum and have found this thread very informative.

I ordered an HP Envy 17 3D from Costco.com. On 11/7 I configured and ordered it. While on the configuration page, it said 'estimated shipping date' 11/20. Earlier this week on 11/16, I had contacted Costco to get an update and they had mentioned that the ship date was 11/20 and that when it ships, I will get a ship confirmation email.

As of today, 11/21, when checking my order status on Costco.com, it still says 'sent to fullfillment' and nothing has been charged to my credit card. So, I am assuming that it hasn't been shipped yet.

Has anyone else ordered their Envy through Costco.com? If so, what was your experience? I don't find their order status page too informative, as it doesn't mention any delays, etc.

Mine is still on track for delivery on Wednesday the 24. For the record I did get 2 day shipping. Rather they upgraded my shipping to 2 day due to all the trouble I've had with them over the past month.

This is the kind of crap that is pissing me off. Nothing against you, svander, but I was told by three different HP people at different times that there was absolutely no way they could upgrade my shiping at this point in the order process. Obviously, this was a lie. Assuming that I don't cancel my order at this point, this will be my last HP purchase.

I tried to get my shipping upgraded during my chat with the call-center folks and he initially said they couldn't do it, I complained more then he said they would do it. I must have talked too much after that because I think he forgot to do it but I'm not really sure. They also flat out lied when they told me it had shipped but fedex had not updated me yet with a tracking #. After hearing that, I got my notice of delay email and I called again to complain that they lied to me, they said they hadn't expected any delay on my order so they assumed it had shipped. I yelled at them for making that kind of assumption but not much else I could do since at that point it was just another HP support fail to add to the list...

If you can, I'd appreciate a shot or two of the underside of it or any angle that shows the cooling vents and whatnot. Just about every site with pictures of this thing omits a shot of the bottom. I'm trying to shop for a good laptop cooler and it would help to know what fan placement would be ideal.

This is my current top contender:

Well, that may not be a lie. I'm not sure. Ever since my order was placed it was placed with two day shipping; it wasn't a change mid-order. Mind you, they still charged me for the shipping fee but they said I should expect a reimbursement of the shipping charge to my bill me later account within 30 days.

Since the actual charge for the laptop hasn't hit my account yet, I don't expect to see a credit on it until late December at the earliest.

Again, every concession they've had with me in regards to this order is a result of me receiving a regual envy 17 earlier this month that was basically DOA and nothing to do with the delays or lack of supply on their 3D edition. They told me mine wouldn't ship until 11/30 and I agreed to go ahead with it from the get go.

Well, I called HP twice today. First time, the guy was not very helpful. In fact, the first guy said that if I wanted to, just call back to return/exchange it when I receive it! Wow! Really? HP would rather I return a new computer than give me a little bit of a discount, that is sad to hear. The second time, the "nice" lady explained that if I found another coupon, I could cancel this order, and use the coupon on a new order. Oh well, if anyone can find a $400 coupon on an Envy 3D that is still valid, please let me/us know. Thanks. ;)

I'm guessing these sales people don't have the ability in the system to modify an order. Can you imagine the abuse of power they would have if they could willy-nilly modify an order?

I'm not surprised the only thing they can do is help you cancel an order to allow you to reorder if you want to make a change.

Ordered 11/1. Original Ship 11/12. Delayed Ship 11/18. Actual Ship 11/18. Estimated Delivery 11/24. Out for delivery 11/22!

Looks like Fedex is shipping them alot faster. My guess is that they leave time for customs hold and since they are getting through customs quickly, they are arriving early.

Also, it is true that you don't get the shipment notice until the next day. I received the shipment notice at 4am on 11/19.

Is it possible that that just accounts for the time difference between us and the factory in China?

I first started bugging them on the 12th (our time) when I was satisfied that it was already the 13th in China. They did claim that it can take a while to update info which is true but that didn't stop them from giving positive indications that were not grounded in facts.

I ordered 11/1, original estimate 11/12. I got my delay notice on 11/15 saying it would be 11/29. Still waiting on something to happen...

Edit: I got an email back from them asking whether I'd get free upgrade to faster shipping and they said my current estimate is 11/26 but they could not modify the shipping method at this time...

Your new current estimate of 11/26 is to ship or to arrive? My delay notice, like most others, has mine shipping on 11/29, so I would be very happy with having it in my hands this Friday.

That 11/26 was a new "build-by" date revised from the 11/29 date that I got from the delay notice. I'm sure they have no idea of the arrive-by until it's actually in fedex hands.

I emailed Saturday morning and asked for a 10% discount because of the delay. Sunday I called and canceled the order; I ended up reordering a DV7T Select Edition, which I'm happier with except for the lack of a 1920x1080 screen (but hey, that's what external screens are for.) I was told that they are "actively" trying to cancel the Envy 17 order, but that it might ship anyway. Today I got an email saying yes to my request for 10% off the Envy 17. I don't think that would have changed my decision, but it would have been nice if it hadn't taken them two days to respond...

I'm still curious why some of us got delayed to 11/18 and others to 11/29. Configuration differences? If we can figure this out, it might help others that are ordering choose the right config to get the fastest delivery.

And in the email it says the new date is 26th and i believe it means that it is the build date to be ready to ship.

To be real specific, I ordered with this timestamp:
    Online Order 11/01/2010, 11:48:23 PDT

The only mods from stock were the 8GB RAM and the extra battery.

I claimed the $400 coupon. I would imagine most of you that ordered 11/1 or 11/2 also used that coupon?

I bet there were a ton of orders on 11/1 as that was (I think) the start of the bum rush to claim the $400 coupon before it hit its limit on # of ppl that claimed it.

Anyways, my estimate was originally 11/12 put to 11/29 (now currently 11/26).

I guess the only new info above that I haven't already posted was the exact order timestamp shown in my order status page. Anybody else want to post order timestamp and config so we can try to figure it out? Another possibility is that there are multiple production lines and they assign some amount of orders to each line. Lets say they sent 50 order increments to each line; they could easily get out of order if one line ran out of keyboard backlights (or whatever) before another line did.

Edit: also, the current build-date estimate as of this posting is 12/13 so nobody who orders now is getting it in any reasonable amount of time.

Well, if that is the case, then I suppose alot of people will be asking for the 10% off for delay. I am glad you all received it, but I hope they will extend that 10% to the rest of us who have a build date/ship before that date. Mine is 12/2. If I don't hear from them, or get email/track number by the 3rd or so, I will call for my discount and or email. Thanks.

P.S. By the way, for those who called for the 10% off for delay, did you call the number used to place the order in the first place? This is the number I used to order my Envy 3D on their main page: 1-866-807-7196 also, if I wish to write email, what email shall I use?

I would at least wait and see what kind of discount you can find on Black Friday at LogicBuy if you haven't already made your purchase. Last year, I saw a $400 coupon for the Envy (as well as the Pavilion line) line.

Order date 11/12 with original build date 11/12, pushed back to 11/29 or "10 days from original build date" lol Haven't heard anything about 11/26, but that would be great.

Configuration is stock with Win 7 Pro as lone exception.

Got my free power adapter today.

On the top of the invoice it says holiday orders from Nov 1 - Dec 24 may be returned through Jan 15th 2011.

It was said in this thread somewhere but now I can confirm it.

Woot I get around 40 days to play with the laptop before I have to make a decision whether to return it or not.

    I ordered on 11/02/2010 at 6:58 PDT:

HP Envy 17 3D customizable Notebook PC
    • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz
    • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5850 Graphics [HDMI]
    • 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 800GB 7200RPM Dual Hard Drive (SSD 160GB + 640GB 7200RPM)
    • No Additional Office Software
    • 50% OFF! One 6 Cell (standard) and One 9 Cell (over-sized) Lithium Ion Battery
    • 17.3" diagonal Full HD HP 3D Ultra BrightView Infinity LED Display (1920x1080)
    • Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support (Slot Load)

I was originally scheduled for Nov 15, then an email delaying to Nov 18, then nothing. I emailed for an update, was told the 20th. Then it passed w/o any update, and I emailed again today for an update, was told tomorrow, 11/23. I don't believe that it will ship tomorrow. At this point, I am expecting to have it by Christmas. HP = FAIL.

Could someone explain to me what the difference is between the i7-720QM and the i7-740QM (other than clock speeds)? I've heard someone say the 740 produces less heat because it is newer and uses energy more efficiently or something like that, but I dont know if thats true.
