congradts to all those who are getting their shipment!!!!

Anyone know when they will apply the $500 discount? I placed a new order yesterday and emailed them the order number.
-
The coupon should apply immediately.

Just got off the phone with HP's highest level of customer service (IRIS division). I was told that the manufacturer of the Radiance display suddenly and unexpectedly stopped producing the screens, and that HP had no choice but to cancel over 300 orders of the Envy 14 with Radiance display.
HP does not know why the displays were suddenly stopped being manufactured, and it looks like HP's supply of Radiance screens have dried up and they have no Plan B. There is no other manufacturer, that they know of, that they can go to to commence the re-manufacturing of the Radiance display.
Having said that, I also found out that the dates in which orders of the Envy 14 with Radiance display were cancelled.
If you purchased your Envy 14 with Radiance display between January 14-18, your order will be cancelled.
Now for the good stuff. For those that had their Envy 14 with Radiance display order cancelled, call the following number: 888-227-8451. This is the resolution department, HP's highest level of customer service. From what I was told, this is pretty much where the buck stops in getting your order fixed to compensate for the lack of Radiance display.
Good luck! -
-
Also, will the manufacturer of the radiance display make more screens at another time? Or is this something permanent, like a going out of business thing? -
??? It will be canceled? I ordered on the 15th and my fedex tracking # shows that my shipment is already on a truck/plane over to the US. -

Take what hp tells the public with a grain of salt. Once again they said something that isn't true and can be verified by those whose orders have been shipped after having ordered on the 15th. Do you really think they'd tell someone that got cancelled and had ordered earlier than someone who didn't that they sent the later guy a radiance. I'd doubt it.
-
Well, congrats to those of you who are getting the computer. Mine, ordered on the 15th also got canceled.
If anyone doesn't particularly care about the Radiance display and is interested in turning a profit, I'll pay your invoice price including tax and shipping + $200 + the $500 coupon HP code HP emailed me. Just looking for one with at least an i5, and 4 GB 1 Dim, but the memory isn't a deal breaker.
--> Or, I can call and talk my way into the upgrade with the SSD, etc, and send you that computer + $200.
PM me and let me know. -

It doesn't seem like all those ordered in that window have been canceled, but it is the 2nd time someone claimed that over 300 orders were canceled.
-
I ordered at 2:30 PST on Jan 15th and haven't gotten a shipping notification (I also haven't gotten a cancellation). I don't buy the 'if you ordered between the 14th and the 18th, your order will be canceled' thing.

I'm thinking it was an if you ordered between the 14th and the 18th you were on the random lottery to get cancelled, aka if you somehow bought it earlier you're ok? Ugh, I hope the ebay prices crash for new radiance displayed envy's so I can pick one up, mine got cancelled...
I just keep sticking around this topic as torture.
Even tho I might try and call to get a free SSD upgrade, to at least try and trade for a radiance displayed model. -
I beleive there were only 400 orders to be cancelled and a few pages back someone said that the rep told them that there has been 370 cancellations so far. Not sure if the other 30 have already been done, but from all the info I gathered there were 400 cancellations out of about 2000 orders although we don't know if all the orders included radiance..
I ordered it with i5 580 and 4gb single DIMM, might sell it to one of you guys if I'm not too impressed with the radiance.. -
-
-
I'm kinda thinking this cancellation was just 300 (or however many of the Radiance units they didn't have) randomly selected orders that contained the radiance display. I've been following the post since it started and nothings consistent; no matching payments, RAM, CPU, warranties, amount spent, coupon used, etc. The only thing that's the same is that it contains the Radiance.
Edit: oops, mavrick465 just said pretty much the same thing as me, sorry about that -
-
On a separate note, it kind of seems as though possibly the $500 discount wasn't supposed to come out when they got the radiance for the limited time and HP is trying to cut its losses by canceling enough of the orders to turn some kind of process. My personal belief is someone in the ad department ed up big time... No proof, just seems logical. -
It doesnt seem the form of payment mattered. Whether its Credit Card, Billmelater, paypal or debit, all have got cancellations.
A preferred customer list doesnt make sense either, people that purchased from HP before got cancelled as well.
HP advertised the return of the radiance pretty well ... that probably turned some head for sure. I almost jumped ship when I saw it but there was no decent coupon.
Then, on the 15th a $500 coupon got released. I didnt hesitate a second, I purchased the radiance and returned my previous one.
Looking back at my own experience, I am pretty sure that coupon + radiance created a massive rush of orders HP was not expecting.
I wonder if the coupon people are talking to the supply people ... -
hopefully more will be shipped tonight/tomorrow morning
-
How some of you guys still have Envy 14's with Radiance displays shipping to you in spite of ordering within the cancellation timeframe, I have no idea, but I would definitely make sure that whatever Envy 14 they ship, ensure it's a Radiance display.
-
@garetjax
I don't think anyone was arguing you were told that, but the variance in answers from CSR's representatives even at high levels is pretty large. I would imagine they are saying everyones were canceled to make those who weren't feel better. There are many people whose orders have already shipped, and I couldn't imagine they just didn't include the radiance display... I guess only time will tell, but I would take what the CSR's with a grain of salt. -
This would suggest that HP sold out of all its Radiance displays on the first day offered, January 13, without many people knowing it was available and without any good coupons. I guess it is possible if they got very few units in, but if that was the case why not just keep the few screens for potential repairs?
Also, if all the orders will be cancelled, HP is taking too long to inform their customers. It has been over a week and many of us still have no cancellation notice and the build date is getting even closer. If they want to build goodwill and get potential customers to order a new laptop, waiting until the build date to cancel the remaining radiance envy orders is not the way to go about it. -

Truthfully, even though mine is set to be here thurs by 10:30am i'm still not at ease untill i'm sure its a radiance display and it and the computer aren't faulty. This has been the craziest experience i've ever been through to spend 1444 dollars on a product.
-
if this HP CSR is watching this thread, please, please just send out all the cancellation emails at once (if there's more to come)

If it wasn't for this thread they would have just sent us Bv's because half probably wouldn't have known. They know if one person found out everyone would check theres because of this forum. Also they could have just cancelled and said they didnt have the radiance and not given the coupon back much less anything else. Because of this thread since one person got an ssd everyone should, of course some will not fight it long enough to get one. This forum is the peoples voice against big business. It's what they have to deal with if they screw up or screw somebody because anyone searching for info on the product will read about it. -
@ garetjax
Thanks for the info. It's very helpful. I really feel like HP could have handled this situation much better. There's been very little reliable communication on their part, thus far.
Also, I look forward to finding out if the Envy's that were shipped, actually came with Rad. displays. -
Well I just called the Resolution line here to check on my "resolution" as I called Thursday is response to their "generous offers" email. I pushed for the SSD on Thursday and was told an email was sent to get authorization for it and that I would be contacted back in 3 three business days. Well three days came and went with no word so I just spent another 50 minutes on the phone to find out I will get nothing, nada, zip except the same $500 coupon they offered in the first place with the $1399 requirement intact. In fact they didn't even have record of the other rep saying she sent an email, so that was another ~30 minute phone call wasted. Sadly I told the lady if she would just credit me the $200 for the screen I'd take the system as is but they won't do that. End result is they won't budge on it, in fact what a joke to call it a resolution line as the reps do not speak good English and offered me no resolution other than to suck it up,order a new system, and spend an extra $200 for a bunch of extra components I don't need.
I realize HP doesn't owe us anything but sheesh customer service goes a long way. This was my first and will most definately be my last experience with HP. I have always held the opinion that 90% of their products were cheap junk due to my friends who owned them and had problems but I was willing to give it a chance due to the high rating on the Envy. I am in the process of ordering a 15 inch Macbook Pro right now because I know that if I were to call I would get good customer service and I have seen them first hand offer somebody a new Macbook Pro when their old laptop broke OUTSIDE of warranty. That's the kind of CS that keeps customer's coming back and that is why I guess people are so high on Apple......(Not to mention when I want to buy a new laptop I still be able to get ~40% of the value on resell). -
Hello everyone, I like indiaman19 have been following this thread. Ever since word got out about the deal and all the cancellations Ive been following it at slickdeals. My order so far has not been canceled. I have made it so far through the rounds of cancellations, but never know whats ahead.
It is a good thing to see though that people's orders are being shipped. It does give me hope, except if its DOA or not radience I will be very angry, and probably never ever recommend HP again.

I do not know why the build date still says 12, but its something which was apprently on other people's builds (see: Slickdeals.net - View Single Post - HP Envy Laptop: i7-720QM 1.6GHz CPU, 4GB DDR3, 500GB HD, Radeon HD 5650, 14" LED 1600 x 900 LCD, WiFi N, Win 7 64 Bit $900 + Free shipping post 377)
Hopefully everything works out for all of us. Shame on HP -
Called in and they said they would not allow a $800 coupon and would only credit $200 because I already used a $300 coupon. I am so going to buy a Macbook Pro when it releases because this is bull. I hate HP so much right now.
-
Just trying to get an order placed seems damn near impossible for HP to do, I can't imagine what it would be like to deal with a technical support issue with them. If they can't even take orders and help customers, I don't have any hopes for their post sales service. -
Anyone else get their refund posted to their account yet? Because I have not received mine yet. I understand it takes a little time for refunds to show up but I am getting a little annoyed that mine still has not posted. I was assured by a CSR that the refund had been initiated but that leaves me and others waiting before we can move on anything else. I think for this reason alone HP could have been a little better with their "offer" considering my money has been tied up for over a week with them. Say honoring the $500.00 coupon and a little extra for the trouble. Because in the end they screwed up we didn't.
Also, after spending a considerable amount with HP already the last 6 months I am now going to think twice about going with them in the future.

I can tell there is some serious angst with HP customers here...

I had purchased a Dell XPS 15; its a great laptop, the 1080p display is GORGEOUS. The performance was great and I got it for a great price. Everything about it was great except I felt it was just a little too big, I just felt something a little smaller would be more portable since Im coming from a 13 inch laptop. Then I come across the Envy 14 and the $500 coupon. I read its also available with a great display albeit at a smaller resolution. I figure its pretty much just what Im looking for so I order it and call Dell to return the XPS 15. All the time Im setting up the XPS 15 return and packing it up Im having second thoughts that display is KILLER. And did I mention the speakers? They are awesome.
A couple of days later I go on vacation, knowing Im going to have a nice laptop a few days after I return. I get back today to find the cacellation email. What? I was incredulous, I have never had an order cancelled on me by a company before. Then I read some of this thread and I cannot believe it.
Now I am left with nothing. That XPS 15 that I was so unsure of returning would cost me over $300 more than I paid for it now, I would never have returned it if I had ANY idea that HP would do something like this.
Nothing with the letters HP will ever grace my home again, that is for sure. -
