My order was on 1/16 at 1:02 PST ( I guess they dont do am/pm -.-) and still no dice
-
I ordered 8PM PST on the 15th... and it's not shipped yet
-
Anyone else had experiences with hp standard shipping? How long does it usually take?
-
Yes, I also couldn't believe I got one either particularly with the $500 coupon and also just got my full refund for the BV Envy 14 which I returned a week ago.
Yes, it is an radiance display not a BV and from my first inspection, everything about the Envy is perfect.
I order on the January 15th on 6:04 AM PST and got it today at 1:34 PM PST. Awesome fast delivery considering it was assembled in Shanghai China. -
Hi Spencerp, where/how do you suggest I get a copy of High Def VID to watch on the Envy radiance?
-
Can anyone confirm if the $500 "courtesy" coupon can be stacked with the current $300 dollar off coupon?
-
last envy 14 I had shipped out on jan 4th and was delivered on 6th, very fast
-

Over the phone they wont stack it, essentially when they put in the order the put in the same coupon code as before and just over ride it the fact that it is at maximum capacity. Idk about ordering online and emailing them. -
click on this vid of avatar's trailer in high def. Be sure to change it at the bottom from 360 to 1080 and then watch in full screen. Oh and be close to bathroom because you will shi^ yourself! ha enjoy

Order was also 1/16, but at 11:47 PST. Not shipped, still "in production." We should start a shipping log thread lol
-
hey Spencer, are you considering getting an external bluray drive? It seems like it's a must with the radiance screen.
-
I received my HP Envy 14 today, posting in this forums from it. The screen is so bright I had to turn it down, lol. There is alot of keyboard flex on the right side of the key board, but I can live with that. The rest of the laptop is stellar. I did document the unboxing if anyone absolutly needs proof. very thrilled with my purchase.

Same here, almost to the minute, but not so happy
. Radiance screen has blue streaks. Hardware defect. Sending it back for screen replacement. They can't send you a replacement computer with Radiance, but they can repair your computer by replacing your defective Radiance with a new one - claim to have plenty in stock for wtty repair which mine is - only had it for 30 min before I was packing it up for return - probably fastest wtty claim ever, but since this
can't be replaced with Radiance, warranty repair is the way to go.
Got pretty good assurance the replacement will happen, and pretty soon. (After talking to 4 goons who told me I'm SOL!) Still, what a freakin letdown. The rest of the screen (without the blue streaks) and the rest of the computer seemed awesome.
Good things come to those who wait. ? ! -
Sorry, I'm not to tech savy, but I thought bluray is intended for 1080P resolution....so...isn't the radiance screen only able to get 720P? I suppose bluray movies will still look better on the resolution of the radiance then the standard BV screen...

That really sucks to hear. Hopefully your last statement holds true. This whole radiance thing seems to have not been planned out very well. HP really F'ed this one up

lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
Without a doubt. I tried to remain calm and respectful but very firm in dealing with the SIX different people I spoke to. I've always found HP people do more for you if you are extremely respectful, but refuse to take no for an answer. There is definitely a problem in HP, given the Radiance fiasco and their inability to supply more than 5000 HP Slate 500s for 5 months!
-
The radiance would be considered 900p (1600x 900) the bv would be 720. I believe bluray is the only medium over 720
-
Truthfully i really don't rent or buy movies often and since i have a bluray player and a 46" sony lcd I probably won't. I watch shows on hulu desktop like a crack head smokes crack (especially house).
Well now that i've said that you have me interested.... how much is an external bluray? -
i've posted a question in regards to this before, and somebody said someone actually hacked it so they got an internal bluray drive... since all laptop drives are more or less the same, just different mounts, it's possible you can change and move the mounts so it'll fit!
-
I have a blu-ray on the computer im trying right now, I've used it like 3-4 times! lol
My Envy is still in production, hopefully it ships tomorrow! I would figure the HP factory runs 24/7 lol
To all the people that got an SSD in lieu of the Radiance, are you REALLY satisfied? I mean from an economic standpoint its a great deal, that thing was over $500, but at the end of the day you are still going to be looking at a brightview 768p display, which is the reason you wanted the envy 14 to begin with.
Also, Did anyone try to get a Envy14 from the refub store using the 500 off? If mine got cancelled I would try going that route, even 2-300 of a refub would make that a better deal that this one. -
they dont allow coupon codes on the refurb stores, do they???? how does that work?, seeing how you have to call them up and order over the phone. the only thing i see is 10% off and thats it.
-
has anyone's order on 1/16 shipped yet? I feel like its going to ship on Tuesday. I guess they do a million shipment's once a week
-
I ordered on 15th and it's not shipped yet
-
My non-Radiance replacement for cancelled radiance was shipped out today. Should be here by Tuesday
.
The order was placed on the 24th (Monday), so at least there was a fast turn around after their mistake. I'll give them a little credit for the speed. -
I wonder if the radiance they sell in the parts store is really a radiance. It doesn't make much sense that they'd cancel so many orders just to sell it in the parts.... of course their profit margin in the parts store is massive. I wish someone would put up the $400 and get one and let us know if it is real.
-
Does the parts store have the same 21 day no questions asked return policy? If so maybe i'll take the risk for the team and post my results. Also can you link the screen please?
-
From what I read, you can only return/exchange defective parts.
After all it's a parts store, so if you use em that means you really "need" the part to get your system going
-
I just had a thought, Since the Slice battery went out of stock around the same time as the radiance display, do you think that orders who had both were more likely cancelled? I see alot of i5 580's that got through and not as many 450's with slice.
Hrmm. -
bigphil,
I had an i7, and no slice, ordered on 1/16 and mine got canceled. It's hard to speculate on if the slice was a factor or not. -
Ordered 10pm est, still in production for Feb. 1.
I hope it ships early next week... -
ordered 8pm PST~ almost same time as yours~~ and same status as yours
-
You are able to return a product from the parts store if A) its defective B) is not the right part.
You could say you thought it was the brightview and return it. I bought the slice form there and the guy said if i didn't like it to say it wasn't the part i was looking for and i could return it. -
me12345, looks like i missed getting mine by about an hour.
-

I placed an order on the 17th. Mine is still showing "In Production" with an estimated Build/Ship date of Feb 2nd. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If I had to guess, I would say the reason behind the cancellations has something to do with the unavailability of ANOTHER component within the order, such as the i7 processor, and NOT the Radiance screen. If HP had to wait a week or so for that component to become available, and they already provided ship/build dates to customers that ordered different configurations on a LATER date (say, for the i5 processor), those later orders might suddenly take precedence. I hope that makes sense... but again, that seem like the most rational explanation to me. What do you think? Is there any evidence to the contrary?
-
My ship date was for Feb 1 :-/
-
This would be a heck of a trade if the radiance at the parts store is indeed a radiance. Trade for this then buy a radiance and have a freakin super computer
-
spencer, i looked at the parts store, and couldn't find the radiance. Do you have a link?
-
The reason for the cancellations IS the radiance. Hence the emails sent out explaining this and the fact that the people cancelled were able to order another computer w/ any option besides the radiance (and the slice but thats not a computer component, more like an accessory)
-
So on the 26th, after going through the Radiance display fiasco, I ended up ordering another Envy but got the $200 slim battery upgrade instead. I checked my email last night and it said it had shipped already! Wow! The estimated ship date was Feb. 25th. I guess HP does overestimate their ship dates. It's weird seeing that mine has shipped even though some of you guys placed your some 10 days before mine. :\
I, like most of you guys here, have been really frustrated with HP with the whole Radiance display and the lack of supply. I also ordered a printer with the Envy that was broken when it arrived. However, I'll give HP the benefit of the doubt and blame that on FedEx. Anyways, I'm glad I'll be getting my Envy next Tuesday, albeit without the Radiance display. Hoping there won't be any defects whatsoever, although if they accidentally give me a Radiance instead of the BV display, I'd be perfectly fine with that
.
-
Then how do you explain the fact that my order, placed days after those who ordered on day 1 and have already received cancellation notices, has not yet been canceled? Like I said, the most rational explanation in this case is that there is an outlying variable ASIDE from the Radiance screen, such as the unavailability of a specific processor or accessory like the Slice battery.
And yes, I'm more than aware that the Radiance display has been discontinued; it was the primary reason so many people jumped on this "deal". -
From what I hear, you can find them on ebay maybe less than 100.
What's hulu desktop? -
The single fact that everyone who's order got canceled had the radiance display is enough to prove that the radiance display was the issue. Cancellations included i5's, i7's, different RAMs, all kinds of configuration, the only thing they had in common was the radiance display
The fact that you're order didn't cancel only means that HP didn't cancel the newest orders only, they either randomly selected or had their own way of choosing. -
I heared that it was on a Envy 17 that this was done to, but nothing for the Envy 14. I hope someone finds a way to install a internal bluray on the Envy 14, I would definitely want that!!
-
lovelaptops MY FRIENDS CALL ME JEFF!
I asked that same question when I was assured there was enough stock to replace my defective one. They said they are only using them to install in units sent in with defective screens, not selling the screens to the general public. I asked if that reflected a shortage of replacement parts and got a long pause for an answer. That pause was comforting, because it suggested to me that all of the other info she was giving was likely to be accurate - ie, that they do have enough stock to replace defective radiances.
Has anyone searched eBay for trashed E14s with un-trashed radiance screens? -
I Got My Radiance!!!!!!!!
-
Lucky, congrats
Ordered the 16th, same specs as yours except the i5-580m, but still says in production
-
Hey Guys,
It's good to see that people are getting their laptops in with the actual Radiance display. I'm one of the people who ordered pretty late and still managed to not get cancelled...yet. Could it possibly have to do with payment method? I used my debit card so they got all the money pretty quickly.
I wanted to ask if anyone knew what was up with my build date being listed as 12? Not Feb. 12, just '12'. I'm thinking its most likely not a good thing but wanted to know if anyone else had the same thing. I don't think it was always 12 (dont really remember...) so I'm thinking it's Hp code for something. Here is all my info in case you were curious or wanted to make more theories about why certain order weren't cancelled.
-
I think we've already confirmed that the payment method has nothing to do with cancellations. The only thing that we all have in common is the radiance display. And from what I've seen, even date of purchase has nothing to do with it as the cancellations have been random and sporadic.
That estimated build date thing is funny. Must be some sort of typo on HP's part. If you look down a little bit under "Estimated ship date," it states that your PC will be built by February 2, 2011. -
It means your order was cancelled. Sorry man.
Ha j/k it means we have no idea but be happy it doesn't have a C on it.
Was your HP Envy 14 with Radiance display order cancelled? Post here!
