Was your HP Envy 14 with Radiance display order cancelled? Post here!

My order which was placed on 01/15/2011, 01:42:07 PST hasn't been canceled yet. It's been in production for like 5 days now. I got the i5 580m, 6gb, 500gb, and of course radiance. I wonder if the radiance display in this round is the same quality display at launch. Something seriously seems fishy with the radiance suddenly back, $500 coupons, and cancellations...

 

AMAZON currently only has the 1366*768 version, do you know when the 1080p version would come out?

i been searching for a new notebook instead of the envy for 2 days now
1 thing that cant be even come close to the envy.. the battery

i think the problem may not not even be only in radiance displays. People who have ordered i7s have had theirs delayed. Someone on another forum ordered Dec. 26 and its delayed to Jan 25. I ordered Jan 2 and mine is currently delayed until until Jan 25. HP could be trying to complete exhaust all their stock in preparation for a refresh. And for the radiance displays, they have probable had a bunch of them since October and they are just trying to get rid of the left over especially when they have had 2 consecutive 500$ coupons.

 

Impulse, I am thinking the same as you... other brands are rolling out their sandy bridges already (sager, lenovo...)

Has anyone been cancelled today? HP has customer service going 24/7 , so if they have more to roll out they should come today.

 

Mine said "In Production" as well, and even after my cancellation e-mail, still says "In Production" with a delivery date of February 3rd.

I wholeheartedly support this. Like I told the guy at HP on the phone, if they don't have the Radiance displays, I'm willing to wait however long it takes to get my Envy 14 built with it. Either that or issue a $500 coupon to those orders that have been cancelled towards the purchase of a refreshed Envy 14.

I used Bill Me Later and my order was cancelled.

I ordered at around 12:47 PM PST (3:47 PM EST) and mine was canceled.

 

Then I believe cancellations might be randomly selected.

Funny thing is (not really) is I sold my XPS 15 with 1080P display when I placed this order -_-
The screen really was awesome, but it was a bit too big for me to carry around daily. Otherwise it was an awesome laptop. It had 8GB RAM/i5 and SSD as well...

Anyone looked into the sony eb with the 1080p display? Its only a $50 upgrade and I heard some good things about the display on that as well. sound and big quality might be behind the envy 14.

 

With everyone trying to figure out a correlation to who got canceled..there is none. People are getting canceled with i5s, i7s, those who ordered early and those who ordered late. The only thing that everyone has in common is the radiance. Other than that it seems random and those who got canceled lost the the lottery.

it's a 15.5" , thats too big ... albeit well priced even with the 1080p + i5 + ATI 5650 + large battery

The sony eb 1080p is atcually pretty nice

The BV display is basically on every hp laptop (dv5, dv6/7, dm4, hp mini) and the radiance is like a macbook pro screen. The problem is that the radiance might look overly saturated. The sony eb is a nice in between that I would be perfectly happy. But there are other factors to consider as you mentioned

 

Actually the BV display on most other HP models appears to different from the BV display on the Envy. On other HP models, the standard BV display is glossy. On the Envy, it's a BV "Infinity" display, which is apparently (based on one forum member's disassembly) a matte panel with a glossy plastic edge to edge panel on top.

 

That thing is huge and only lasts 2 hours.

I think I will just get them to toss in the SSD and change to a Beats 14. I'm going to try to get some money knocked off since I have my own copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (I might have to wait until after receiving it to get it though).

I wonder if the Feb. 4th deadline is because they're refreshing very soon after.

 

They're not gonna be able to refresh until dual core sandy bridges are released which is supposed to be late february, and I dont see them refreshing the 14 before the 17 as the 17 has already been announced.

 

Do you think they are refreshing the envy 14/17 together or separating?

 

anyone have suggestions for a replacement with a high res. 14" screen? The only one I've found is the thinkpad T410, which you can get w/ a 1440x900 14.1" display.

 

I only know that vaio z is 13.1" but has 1080p resolution~

The problem the is that the t410/410s is known to have a rather lacking screen quality, and the GPU isn't as good.

Sadly with the combo of 5650/and Radiance the Envy is definitely a stop above the competition. Even with out the Radiance the GPU is better than the XPS14 and the screen on the XPS14 is supposed to be junk, but there seems to be a decent aftermarket 1600x900 for it.

Dell XPS 14 may still have a 1600x900 option - I know it used to.

 

I don't believe it ever did. The only 1600x900 for it is an aftermarket LG panel.

i need a new laptop and after all the promotions and being outdated there is no way i am getting the envy fully priced

I contacted HP CS, pushing for the additional $200 (plus the original $500 discount) that you received along with the SSD upgrade and also the 4GB 1 DIMM. However the CS rep was pretty adamant in saying that would never happen. So now I was wondering, is it possible you provide me with your order number, or any other additional info that could help me get this deal? Thanks!

SSD's are over priced now, it will go down within a year I think.
I'll wait before getting one.

the seller has almost no votes ... that's utterly silly to shell out over $1500 to someone with almost no ratings.

 

that seller won't ship till Feb which means he didn't receive it yet, he only ordered it to make profit. Would be funny if his got canceled.

 

looks like shill bidding. He listed it and then 3 hours later someone with no ebay feedback who just registered on ebay places a bid for $1500 not likely. Hes bidding up his own auction. Hes never sold anything on ebay before and is likely cheating.

 

Hmm...it was a $100 upgrade option on my Studio 14 and I thought they were continuing to offer it on the XPS 14, but perhaps not.

I took another look around... the Vaio EB series is the only thing that barely caught my eye as an Envy replacement. I have to say that aesthetics (or to be specific: lack of bloat) play a very important role in my decision though, so I discarded most other brands (Samsung, Toshiba, Lenovo) just by the looks. Kinda silly I know.

The Asus U43Jc looks pretty good, but same res as a BV and GPU is not that good.

If the XPS15 had the higher res available, I'd maybe take the shot despite the bulkyness. If Envy was not an option, I'd have no other choice but to wait a while or pay the big bucks for a MBP15.

 

I'm looking at the K42jv, its a 14in with a 335m GPU

 

1080p is still available~ when you customize the most expensive xps 15 model, there's the option under "colors", $220 option

 

the U43's video card only has half the balls of the Envy 14. (310m vs 5650)

check the lenovo y460p with sandy bridge, it has a $450 coupon. That's my 2nd choice so far.

 

EB series looks even more bulky than XPS 15 i think
