dv6000t hp laptop
-
thank you very much for your help
-
mines coming pretty soon! Hopefull by Friday (thats what they said) !!!!
I CAN'T WAIT!!!
I'm going to go crazy untill i get it, then ill go even more crazy! lol
BTW, the specs are in my sig. -
Also, heres my future sig that i whipped up:
How do ya like it? -
wow, the same configuration as mine except i have the core 2 duo 1.60 and i have a 12 cell battery [worth it]
-
I guess we'll have to deal with the high-pitched whine from the processor(s), because installing the RightMark CPU Monitor decreases the battery life significantly and makes the fan run more constantly.
Besides, it's not such a bad thing, I prefer to think of the noise as an indication of how powerful the processors really are -
i dont think i really need the 12 cell battery, cuz i wont be away from the plug too often, and i dont want that extra bulk coming out from underneath...
and i would have gotten the 1.6 ghz processor, but it has a worse FSB then the 1.66 ghz one.... so i got that one because i had a little more money...
and the processor makes a high piched whine? is it loud? -
Why doesn't anyone step up to the t7200 2.0 ghz baby! If you gonna by a laptop now, spend a few more bucks get a fast cpu. I'm running C2D t7200 (2.0 ghz) and it still doesn't feel fast enough so I don't know what kinda performance you guys are getting with those 1.6 ghz jobbers.
-
I posted an alternative whine fix
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=90335
It works in 95% of cases and has in (both) of the dv6000t's I've owned.
BTW, I went for the T7200 (2.0GHZ) Intel Processor, and it's highly reccommended. -
yeah of course its recomended, and of course its gunna be faster and better, but I cant afford it! Its all about the cost... and 2.0 ghz is too much money for me, if i had enough then yes i would get it...
-
o and btw, does that whine noise occur in every hp dv6000t now?
Because im getting mine shipped by the end of this week (I CANT WAIT!!!), and I hope there are no problems with it. -
-
oh ok....
do u really think that 15.4 inch is too big? -
It's not too big. My previous laptop was a 12" Thinkpad X24 which was really small and only weighed 3.3 lbs. So to get this thing is like a brick.. LOL...
I hadn't seen a DV2000T until this past friday and i was like wow it is lighter. you do sacrifice the video card for the size though. My laptop is Awesome in every way, 2.0gig,2gig of ram,120 gig hd, and the geforce 7400. so it is pretty slick, but it is a little heavy for me.
I almost bought a local used dv2130us used for 900.00 today, but the more i thought about it the more i decided i would keep mine and wait to see what costco brings me in the next month.
I know you were having a hard time making up your mind and even made a poll about the size. -
haha yeah i spent a lot of time thinking about it, and i decided on the bigger one because im not going to be traveling too much. Plus, i have very big hands, and i think i would like the bigger keyboard and screen... feels better and more comfy. Also, the better GPU helped my decision...
So wait, you bought a dv2130us???
What about ur dv6000t? Its wonderful! -
Dv6000 is cool. Just got 'em and eventhough it's just core duo proc., but performance wise and weight wise, i'm very much satisfied with it. Nice exterior design as well as the webcam. Now just looking for the sleeve as well as bag for this jewel. hehehe!
-
i found a cool cheap case at bestbuy:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat08003&id=1142298844652
And btw, the hp dv6000t is not compaq, its hp...
Although compaq is now owned by hp... -
Cool. Thanks Matt for giving me that URL as well as pointed out the Compaq thang. So still counting the days for ur HP to reach ur house eh?
-
YES RIGHT NOW I AM SUFFERING!!!
I LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT ANY LONGER!!!
lol...
yeah it should come Friday, but i had some problems buying it with the credit card company, so im not exactly sure when it will come...
it might come earlier, or later...
It is supposed to come this Friday i think...
I CANT WAIT!!! -
-
how much are you getting it for?
-
Just checked and my 6000t was shipped today! When I ordered the delivery date was estimated to be the 19. From what I have read on the forum it usually takes 3 days... soooo I'm hoping for Thursday. Wonder who'll get their's first...me or Gamermatt?
-
haha it also said that it is estimated for the 19th for me too!
Yours will probably come first, because this is what it says for mine:
"Estimated ship date:
Your customized HP Pavilion dv6000t customizable Notebook PC will be
built by January 17, 2007"
Good choice on your notebook, btw! -
Just wondering, if i want to upgrade the processor to a better one in the future, is that possible? cause right now i'm using Core Duo processor but who knows in the future there will be better Processor *after core 2 duo that is*.
-
http://dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3180 -
yeah i dont think you could upgrade processors, but u could always just install more ram if you want more speed!
-
-
-
-
My laptop got to Alaska today. Just a hop, skip and loooonnngg jump and it's here.
-
nice specs.
Welcome to the notebook forums! -
Hello everyone,
after posting through 54 pages here on the dv6000t Current/ Prospective Owners Lounge, I thought I would post a couple pics, to let everyone know how things are going with mine.
It's obvious that I am not the only one who enjoys it!

Plus it gave me a chance to try out my new Sony Cybershot DSC-W100/B.
-
hey nice computer, fear game, mouse, sunglasses, camera, and cat! lol
i think u need to clean your screen a little, it has many fingerprints on it from what i can tell! -
Thanks, I only discovered my screen was that dirty after I took the pics lol
-
o haha
its probably the lighting that shows all those fingerprints! lol
nice laptop! I cant wait till i get mine!
The dv6000t is sooooo dang sleek and sexy!! -
Does your CPU temperatures cycle up to 60 C, then fan kicks in, goes down to 53-C fan shuts down, temp. starts to rise slowely to 60-C, fan kicks on for couple seconds , etc?
-
I like that you added that little bottle of JD for that extra effect, right.
On a serious note does any one have issues with their volume keys sometimes not working other then the fact they freeze everything up after pressing them? In other words you loose control of your lappy and have to reboot. anyone? -
ofcourse
Wave, have you tried uninstalling the driver for the touch keys and then installing the newer version that was released 12/06?
I would try that, heres a link,
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...n&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1842189&os=228&lang=en
This is for the dv9000 but all that series use the same drivers, only difference is that they update the dv9000 drivers first. -
I got my dv6000t a week ago and I absolutely hate the screen resolution. 1280x800 is just not enough for a 15.4" widescreen. I don't think that the monitor will be an adequate match for Vista. I can practically count the pixels from normal reading distance....
Is HP going to come up with a better screen for the dv6000t any time soon?
How does everybody feel about higher resolutions? Are the letters too small? -
does anyone have a guide for a clean install of dv6000t?
-
hi guys,
i got this new laptop yesterday.
i was really happy about this deal.
here is the Configuration:
Price $800
hp Pavilion dv6120
intel core due T2250
1 GB RAM
120 GB hard disk
8X DVD R/RW
integrated microphone and webcam.
but happines did not sustain so long because as soon as i opened it and started working on it, i found out that it gets heated very soon on left hand side of mouse and then it hurts your left hand while typing.
what do u think should i do????
1)get my money back
2)or the problem may be just in this single piece and i may give a try to some another piece.
3)deal is really good so if there is a solution to the problem then please let me know.
thanks in anticipation. -
Is anybody else's fan constantly turning on and off? Mine is on for 20-30 secs, off for a minute, on again.. If I've got a few word docs open, it's on for 2-3 secs, off for 10. It seems to first come on at about 46 deg. C, which seems lower than everybody else's temps. I contacted HP and they want me to send it back for repair. The dang this is only 10 days old!!
-
wow they are finally taking orders with vista pre-installed at hp.com !!! maybe i should have waited....
-
Greetings!
I've been lurking this site for several months now, ever since I've been on the market to replace my ageing Dell 4150, but now I finally get to join the dv6000t owner's lounge! I knew I wanted Vista preinstalled, and just today it came available on the HP site (along with several other price/configuration option changes), so I made my order. Here’s what I got:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5600 (1.83GHz/2MB L2 cache/667MHz FSB)
15.4” WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
NVIDIA GeForce Go7400 256MB
HP Imprint Finish + Microphone
1024MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 DIMM)
120GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
8X DVD±RW/R w/Double Layer Support
Intel PRO Wireless 3945abg w/Bluetooth
6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
No TV Tuner w/remote control
6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
Microsoft Works 8.0
System Recovery DVD w/Windows Vista Home Premium
Price before tax: $1,096.61 with APP
A couple of things changed today on HP’s CTO site: they eliminated the T5500 processor (along with a lot of Intel processor options) as well as the 100GB hard drive from the offerings for the dv6000t. I had been planning to get both of these, with a system cost somewhere around $1050. But HP also lowered the cost on both of these upgrades: the 120 GB HD upgrade is only $75 over an 80GB (instead of $100), and the T5600 is only $50 above the T5200 (instead of $100). The bottom line is that I got a better computer today for only about $50 more than I would have paid yesterday.
I also decided against the glossy BrightView screen based on some of the comments I read here. I use my laptop 6-12 hours a day in several different lighting environments, so I think it was a wise choice for me to go matte. Plus I’ve never had a glossy, so I don’t know what I’m missing, right? ;-)
It ships on February 6, and I’ll report on how HP’s version of Vista works out of the box when it’s up and running. -
nice specs! congrats on your purchase!

Hello my fellow Pavilliowners:
I have had my Costco.com-purchased 6100t for about 2 months now, and LOVE IT.I have never been so happy with a technology purchase before!
I purchased from costco.com for one reason alone: the return policy. Costco has a 6-month return policy on their laptops! I have heard, however, that they will be changing this in the future. So i have 4 months left to return this laptop.
Why would I return my laptop, if I am so happy with it? Because:
1) I believe that a system with Vista and drivers pre-installed will be much more stable than a system that has been running on XPMCE for 3 or 4 months. (or whenever I would get the upgrade.)
2) They are available to ship in two weeks, rather than getting the upgrade in 2 months.
What do you guys think? I have the finances to order another one first, and then return this one. I would get the same exact laptop, with the same exact options. I also did not send away for the rebate, because I knew about my plan in advance, and I have heard about people that return their system and keep the rebate. Not honest, in my opinion.
Extra credit question: My understanding is that the duo core 2 is a 64-bit processor, and i have heard that my upgrade will be a 32-bit version of Vista Home Premium. Should this bother me as much as it does? -
i say you just keep it for now. If you really want to upgrade to vista, then, after they fix all bugs, you can upgrade at your convenience... you can return if you really want to, but i say just keep it and avoid the hassle of returning it...
-
Oh, one other thing:
If any of you have the internal bluetooth option, I HIGHLY recommend this DELL mouse and keyboard. I found a permanent link to it, but do a search on ebay, and you can find the mouse by itself for about $20.
It works great! The software is called "SetPoint" and is available for free on the Dell website.
I expect REP points for this one! -
i have bt in my future-dv6000t ... i checked the mouse out and it looks pretty cool! Does it lag at all with the bt wireless?
-
I was all set to get the new Vista version of my dv6000t but now I'm wondering if I should wait a little bit more to get the systems with the built in Wirelesss N cards cause I really would love that 9extra range and speed) . just don't know if I can wait so long . Otherwise I can exchaneg my laptop now and upgrade to a better one within 6 months from then.
