Its not really slow when online and stuff but it does take quite awhile to shut down and start up.Which is rather annoying. And about the noise, mine is very quiet. Quieter then my old no name brand one. Theres no real noise that bothersome.

Yours is even better, so you can hit 30 + fps. with minimal settings at worse.

Is there any real advantage of Vista Premium over Home?
Also, would anyone be so kind as to post the best and safest way to remove all the bloatware from this laptop? I'm computer literate, but I'm no expert.

I just received my laptop earlier today, everything seems to work properly above my expectations - the only disappointment is that my SEC screen isn't as up to par with the rest of the machine. I'm not saying that is crap, im just saying that what people said before the SEC screen is true. I knew i got a SEC screen right when i turned it on. I was hoping for the LG pHillips too.

Nalashniki... any reason why you didn't opt for the 64 bit processor?

I'm interested in the dv6000, but I was curious as to the quality of the matte screen. Frankly, I've had my fill of glossies, and I'd really like a screen with solid viewing angles, good color saturation, and NO FREAKING REFLECTIONS. I've also never been very impressed by HP's glossies.
I'm also curious about peoples' experiences with the Pentium T2060. Certainly it looks a bit underpowered compared to its contemporaries, but it also looks like it might offer better battery life than the others as a result of its 1MB L2 cache. I'm not interested in 64-bitness since Microsoft clearly isn't either and I don't want a Merom sucking up battery life. Anyone get it with the T2060 and the Go 7400? How'd that work out as far as the battery goes? -
Hi
I am interested of buying the hp dv6000t or dv9000t, but I really need to know if some one have the information if the RAM is upgradeable byond the 2 GB, I know the hp web site say max is 2 GB, but I going for the t7200 processor is this mean I can go to up to 4 Gb in the future are moslty the motherboard that support the core 2 due T7200 could support 4GB RAM, do anyone have any information on that or know someone who did it or try it, Thanks. -
nope only 2 gig

Hey guys, I am seriously considering returning my laptop this week.
My laptop has shut down 5 times in the last two weeks, without warning. Today the laptop shutdown, and I got this message after rebooting:
You received this message because a device driver installed on your computer caused the Windows operating system to stop unexpectedly. This type of error is referred to as a "stop error." A stop error requires you to restart your computer.
Solution:
There are two options you can use to try to fix the problem. If the first option doesn't work, then try the second.
Option 1: Install the most current device driver for your video card
Option 2: Manually decrease Hardware Acceleration for your video adapter
The other problem is: I cannot get S-Video out to work AT ALL. I have tried a CRT, and an LCD HDTV. The best I have been able to get, looks like a scrambled Cable TV station, split in 3 vertical bars.
This only compounds my fears about installing Vista over XP if the disc ever comes.
Anybody have any ideas, is there a fix to the S-video signal that I am not seeing? Does anyone have a link to a step-by-step fix?
Thanks in advance! -
u should just return it

Alternatively, a last ditch effort might be to try a different set of video drivers.
...no one's ever going to answer my questions unless I post them to a new thread, are they? -
HP support is really bad bad bad. I 'm in VN so i sent my $ to my friend in the US to buy the Dv6000t . After she clicked "SUBMIT ORDER " , the website showed "DECLINED". She called for HP but after talking to more than 3 guys, she haven't received any kind of answer.I finally decided to choose HP Dv6000t and i hope there's no regret. But HP do it bad at the first step. Still Waiting 4 my Dv6000t

Hi all,
I am currently a proud owner of a Compaq X1000, and I am planning to buy a CTO dv6000t from hp.com. I have 2 questions may be you can help me.
(1) I am planning to do a clean Vista install after I received it. Do I need to spend additional $19 for that System Recovery DVD w/ Windows Vista Home Premium?
(2) I am not planning to have the TV tuner, but does it come with a basic remote control automatically?
Thanks in advance. Hope to join the club soon.

I JUST RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM COSTCO! MY DV6000 HAS BEEN SHIPPED!
I can't wait... only bummer... it just HAD to be shipped during the Holiday weekend.... hmmm
When I customized the notebook, it had ESD Feb 28th... which I thought was a bunch of BS - since days later I customized the same notebook (just to see what date it would say) and only keept getting dates before that lol.
Countdown has begun! -
I just bought the computer seen in my sig below, for 1049 =D. Loving It.
-
If you don't mind, share some things about it, e.g. what kind of apps you use, how smoothly does it run Vista (thinking about Aero), how does its speed compare with what you had been using, how about its temperature (does it run fairly cool or warm or what?), anything you can think of.
Bill -
Hmm.. well so far my initial impressions of the computer are good. It runs significantly faster than my old sony fs 660 (1.73ghz centrino, 1gb ram, geforce go 6200, 80gb 4200 rpm hdd).
As for apps, i use photoshop cs2, and adobe premier alot, and they both run extremely well and smooth. Aero glass works flawlessly, no glitches/lag or anything.
Temperature, gets a little warm, but not hot. My vaio actually got hotter than this one does.
Even though the graphics card is integrated i tried playing the Unreal tournament 2k4 demo at 1280x800 res, ran smoothe. Also played Half life 2 on it, ran nicely, even with some of the settings on high. I was suprised.
Overal, it has been a great notebook so far. Also, Asthetically.. it is absolutely stunning, the white/silver combo with teh special almost brick pattern imprint design is gorgeous.
Great computer, from initial testing, highly recomended. Hope that helps. -
Thanks; that does help. As you may have see above, I've order the dv6275us from CompUSA: http://www.compusabusiness.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=343931&pfp=(SESSION). However, I'm wavering just a bit because of Dell's new 25% off coupon, which would put it about $50 lower than the HP. Still, I think the HP is still worth it. You've made me anticipate the HP coming Monday while diminishing the inevitable buyer's remorse when I order something.
BTW, where did you get your HP?
Bill -
got it at best buy
-
I've ordered a dv6275us from CompUSA and have just finished reading more threads about display makers, having been prompted by reading a fellow poster who discovered his dv6275us display is made by Samsung (SEC).
Is this anything to be concerned about?
Is it simply the "luck of the draw" as to what display you get?
Or are pre-configured displays sold in retail stores more likely to be SEC?
Does it really matter?
Thanks.

Since I got my Vista version of the DV6000t, I still can't figure out how to check the screen mfg since in Vista the monitor shows up as "generic LCD"

Hi there--looking for advice on which processor to get and also which graphics card. I purchased my dv6000t from HP yesterday.
I noticed that almost everyone on this board has purchased the 7200 processor, and the 256 graphics card--did I make a mistake not getting those? I was trying to be cost conscious, but I'd prefer to not make a mistake and get the fastest computer I need to avoid upgrading again soon. I use my computer mostly for my home business but I do A LOT of multitasking between Quickbooks Pro, ACT 2006, Outlook and other programs that are memory and speed hogs (plus I hear Vista is one too) and am prone to having many programs up at the same time and alt-tab through them. I do NOT do a lot of gaming or graphics intensive programs except for Photoshop. I have a 3 yr. old Toshiba Satellite right now that is hanging up all the time, I can't wait to get a new computer.
HP said I could cancel my order and re-order but they are "waiting for the serial number to come up" since I ordered so recently so they can cancel the order. I have since found I can save about $100 on Costco.com as well, so I'll probably re-order there or ask HP to price match. Should I re-order or is what I've ordered plenty for what I need? Any advice would be MUCH appreciated, here are the specs:
HP Pavilion dv6000t customizable Notebook PC
EZ796AV
– Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
– Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo T5600 (1.83 GHz/2MB L2Cache)
– 15.4" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
– Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 - Core
– HP Imprint Finish + Microphone

– FREE Upgrade from 60GB 5400RPM to 80GB 5400RPM!!
– FREE Upgrade: 8X DVD+/-R/RW w/Double Layer Support
– Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
– No TV Tuner w/remote control
– 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
– Microsoft(R) Office Basic 2007
– HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope
Thanks!!!!! -
I've ordered a dv6000t with the T5600 processor as well. I don't think spending another $100 for the T7200 to go from 1.83GHz to 2.0GHz is worth it for what I do, even if you are going from 2MB caches to 4MB.
However, I upgraded the graphics from the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 to the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400, going from 256MB shared video memory to 128MB dedicated and and 128MB shared. I think that will "future proof" me moreso than the increased processor speed.
This is a good site to research and ask and make sure you're getting what will satisfy your needs.
Hope you the best in your decision.

Hello all:
I'm new to this thread, but have just finished reading it from start to finish. I am in the market for a new laptop as I go off to college in the fall. After a good amount of research my sights are set on the DV6000t. I had a couple of quick questions before I ordered and such.
I think I want something along the lines of the set up of the DV6275US, which are as follows:
Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo T5600 (1.83 GHz/2MB L2Cache)
15.4" WXGA Widescreen (1280x800)
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
HP Imprint Finish + Microphone + Webcam
2048MB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
160 GB SATA Hard Drive
LightScribe DVD/CD Burner
Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection, NO BLUETOOTH
HP Expresscard TV Tuner w/ remote
- 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
My main questions are about the TV tuner since it is rather expensive, but definitely a feature I could see myself using if it works well. Does it only work properly if it is plugged into a cable jack or does it use some sort of antenna? If so is the antenna reliable and provide good picture? Someone mentioned it being HD capable, is this true and can you tell a difference on the 15.4" screen, which is claimed to be HD. Since I heard some unhappy comments about the old TV Tuner, any information regarding the HP expresscard Tuner that is currently sold with the DV6000t's would be a great help.
My second question involved the Bluetooth. I am leaning towards purchasing from a third part vendor such as Circuit City; so I can't really customize and add bluetooth, and I haven't seen one of this model that comes with it yet. Is it a big loss if I just get an external Bluetooth plug-in? Is this a big difference from having it actually in the notebook? Any info would be great.
And lastly, do you guys recomend purchasing from somewhere like circuit city? You definitely get more for your money but you probably can't return and exchange it at will until you get what you want. Opinions on this woud be very helpful.
Thanks for all of your help in advance. Sorry for the length, I just have lots of questions after reading the whole thread. THANKS! -
Thanks for the input Bill! I called HP with my "buyer's remorse" and my therapist there
seems to believe I have purchased enough computer for my needs. She agreed with you on the processor and although that upgraded graphics card might be nice, I don't use any graphic intensive programs (yet) so it should be no problem. She said unless you are using AutoCad or similar, you don't really need the 7200, or unless you are a heavy gaming person, same for the graphics card. Anyways, her advice was to try out the computer for the 21 day trial period and see how it goes. Nice that they let you change your mind for free if you want (but who would want all that hassle of returning a notebook after totally loading it up?!?!?!). Anyways, I feel good karma and am going to stick with it. Thanks SO much for your help!
Karen -
I would go with the Circuit City, since it is some $20 off plus another $150 MIR. Make sure what you want and buy it. You'll save a chunk of change going with CC.
Concerning the TV tuner, I read some posts that it works really well. The tuner is supposed to come with adapters and such. I could buy the dv6275us with the tuner from CompUSA last week for less than I could configure the same computer on shopping.hp.com without the tuner. Consequently, I went with the CompUSA offering because I think the tuner will come in handy at times.
Check out this thread that I started: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=1805980#post1805980.

Glad to be of some help. I received helpful input when I started this thread a few days ago: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=103892. I suspect you'll be fine with the shared graphics memory, but I got the NVIDIA because I wanted to make sure my computer doesn't get slowed down any from heavy web graphics, and I keep a lot of windows open. I don't think the NVIDIA 7400 is really a "heavy gamers" GPU. From my research, one would really want a higher card than that for heavy gaming.
Regardless, you have 21 days to check it out. I really hope it works out well for you. Please post back your appraisal of it.
BTW, I like your display name. It reminds me of when I took Hebrew and Greek in seminary.
Enjoy your HP.

Thanks for the help!

If I were keeping my present computer and it has XP, I would probably not upgrade. It seems like a lot of money for correspondingly little benefit.
If I were buying a new computer, I would buy one with Vista Home Premium or perhaps Ultimate installed. For my needs, I deemed Vista Premium sufficient. Again, for me, Ultimate does not offer enough of what I would use for the extra money.
However, if money were no object and I had a computer which could easily handle Vista and really wanted the benefits of Vista, I would upgrade to Vista Home Premium. Okay, if money were really no issue I would upgrade to Ultimate. Then again, money is always an issue with me!
To make an informed decision, you can check out the following links:

You can check out various helpful reviews here: http://www.winsupersite.com/reviews/.
BTW, don't get caught up in all the Vista bashing. Make an informed decision yourself. I think it's going to prove to be a really good OS.
Hope this helps.

Since the model number--dv6275us--designates a particular configuration, etc., I believe it will be the same tuner. I've read that the tuner does a good job, though it's sort of an add-on to me that I probably won't use often. But who knows?
FedEx tracking says that my order is to arrive today, and it's at the Greenville, SC, distribution center now. It will probably be this afternoon before it's delivered, and then it will take me some time to get it up and running. If I don't forget, I can perhaps give you some initial feedback this evening.

Has anyone found a way (program, trick, anything?) to stop this fan from running constantly? First time poster but long time reader - after browsing this thread I saw a lot of people were having the same problem. Already talked to HP support about this 3 times (useless... "update your BIOS").
Basic Specs:
* XP Media Center Edition (Waiting on Vista shipment)
* Core 2 Duo processor T7200
* NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
* 2GB DDR2 SDRAM
* 100 GB 5400 RPM SATA Hard Drive
I bought this notebook back in november from HP, and I really love it, but it's too noisy to bring to class. It's not even warm when the fan runs, and 90% of the time I only run microsoft word or firefox. I'm not kidding this fan starts chugging even after it's been sitting in a cold room all night. Such a terrible flaw to a beautiful machine, any suggestions? -
