hehe, i still dont know why im the only one who was able to get the accelerometer to work. still dont know if its a platform thing or if its locked within bios or what it may be. maybe if HP releases the next version of the 3D drive guard it may work for others.
-
I am almost 100% sure that it is a platform issue. The dv5z (AMD) uses a totally different BIOS. The issue on XP (for the dv5t) is that the device is hidden by the BIOS when in XP so it is literally impossible for it to work without some BIOS update.. (at least this is my theory!)
-
so if that is that case, either HP fixes it (which seems unlikely since its for XP) or we gotta look into a bios mod.
-
And I do not have the latest Bios (F.13). I have the F.11.A. I downloaded the softpaq for it, but it says it's for Vista only, so I'm reluctant to try, especially when it only fixes some issues with the numlock. -
for the SP41474, did you at all try to extract the files in it to a folder and try installing that way? also, your notebook is based on the intel platform correct?
i am still quite suprised that so far my notebook is the only one able to fully function as far as the hard drive protection in XP. if anyone has a notebook that features the AMD Turion X2 and ATI Radeon HD 3200 using the RS780M, i would assume that SP41474 should work without a problem. -
-
Yes, it's Intel based. -
do you have HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor listed in device manager under System Devices?
-
-
if its not listed, then i would assume that its a problem within bios or the intel platform. so far, it seems like either HP releases a newer version of 3D DriveGuard (assuming it fixes the issue) or we would have to look into a bios mod allowing bios to report the device to windows xp.
-
Unfortunatly a BIOS mod at the moment is virtually impossible as HP are using Insyde BIOS which is not supported by any BIOS modding software out there. As far as I know noone has even been able to uncompress the dv5t BIOS.
-
yeah that is an issue. is there any way to maybe mod the xp driver in accordance to how its setup in bios for vista? seems to me as long as a working driver will identify the hidden device id, 3D DriveGuard should work without a problem. maybe some tweaking to get XP to see the accelerometor?
-
Try this for all those with the "ing" sound issues:

hello
my service pack 2 cd is with my friend
but i have a service pack 1 disc next to me
can i slipstream sp3 in service pack 1 and continue using this guide ???
or it has to be sp3 slipstreamed in sp2 ? -
i think you can slipstream from SP1 to SP3. i think the only issue is from XP to SP3 without prior service packs.
-
-
hello i finished making my disc
when imgburn was running the verifying data process i got a misscompare error
the disc seems fine but i wanna ask if it's safe to use it since i had this error
edit : i used the cd anyway and it worked great , xp successfuly installed -
Hmmm..

Just out of curiosity, what IRQ is your HP Data Protection Sensor using, dp64??
I don't think I even have #23 available. -
i don't know how to search the registry or even how to enter registry :$ lol -
btw, its showing up as (ISA) 23 in device manger when i look at it as resources -
hello ,, i installed xp on my dv5t
however i still have 2 unknown devices in my device manager
one of them is something about a keyboard
lol it's confusing and when i log on to windows i always get the found new device window.....
i also wanna ask you guys how can i make my bluetooth work in xp (since the software is only supported in vista)
i also want to ask you guys (who installed xp on dv5t) , did anyone noticed that the sound only come out from the center of the speaker???
i mean that the speaker is big (from the right end to the left end of the laptop) but the sound seem to come out only from the center part (wich wasn't happening in vista) , anyone can help ??? -
hp integrated module problem fixed
it was bluetooth
now the other device.....wich seems like something related to the remote control.....still not fixed -
problems fixed
thank you -
wewe, were you able to fix the stereo sound issue ? I am stuck with that.. modifying the 'StereoSoundMix' and 'StereoMix' in registry as mentioned in another post didn't have any effect. How did you install Bluetooth ? I have the swsetup dump in external drive but not sure how to go from there..
Another problem I noticed is that the screen doesn't seem to be as sharp as it was with Vista.. looks slightly blurred. The brightness function works all right though.. -
dp64, do you have a link to the SATA drivers you used to install XP? I'm contemplating reinstalling clean on the C: partition and maybe trying different drivers. -
well, my SATA drivers are different from yours since you have an Intel based system. I would download them from Intel's site directly. all you do is select which chipset you have and select Windows XP for the drivers. there should be a ZIP file in their download section which are the drivers. if your chipset is the Intel 4 series this should be it: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng
-
-
*edit, actually because of that discovery I may just re-setup my dual boot. -
Anyone had any luck with enabling stereo speakers ? -
Stereo just works for me.
@Grantman, you don't need to reinstall, it won't fix that issue. You need to edit the registry after installing the audio drivers.
@all - No one other than the original poster of the stereomix post has managed to get stereomix to work. Stereomix is NOT stereo sound. It allows you to record what comes out of the speakers.
No digging was required to find the "pop" fix post. As I've said a number of times, everything is linked to in post 1. *sigh* -
-
and the guide is perfect , u can always check the thread of the latest dv5t drivers and download those who are compatible with xp and then follow this guide but with the drives you downloaded from the other thread
that's what i have done and it installed flawlessly -
it doesn't bother me honestly since everything else is great , but anyone can notice that there's no sound coming from the left side of the speakers .....
as for bluetooth , insert ur swsetup disc
now go to device manager and click on "hp integrated module" that should be an unknown devie in ur device manager , click on update drivers and "select driver manually" , now when u are allowed to chose a destination browse for the destination of bluetooth drivers in your dvd it should be something like that "F:\drivers\BTOOTH\win32" or a similar destination and wait for a couple of minutes and it will work great -
hello my name is george and i want to i just bought this laptop HP PAVILION DV7-1150EV and i want to downgrade to xp does the drivers from the friend hasham11 from page 3 will work?? thanks in advance
-
thanks for the bluetooth install instructions wewe.. I will try that when I get back home.
@Joshua: you mentioned stereo works for you... i guess you meant stereo mix.. no sound from left and right speakers for me too:-(.. can't complain about anything else.. -
what we really need is a new release of the IDT drivers that actually produce sound well. i am amazed that this is still yet to happen.
-
Thanks for SATA, dp64. I'm on o fresh install of XP and still no 3D Guard. I gave up. Doesn't matter. It's mostly a stationary computer for me anyway.
Risks of dropping it are low.
-
sounds good. im sure someone will find a way to get the 3D DriveGuard to work on the dv5t sooner or later.
-
My laptop is HP Pavillion dv5-1125nr.
[Configurations]
CPU: AMD Turionx2 Duo Core Mobile RM-72
HDD: 250GB
Video: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
Memory: 4GB
...
My original OS is Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit). I use NLite to make Windows XP SP2 (32 bit)with SATA, then I install it successfully. I also search drivers for Windows XP and install them. However, there are two devices I can not fix.
Please help me. Thanks very much !!! -
@krackJack - NO, I mean stereo sound works for me. StereoMix does not, or I do not know how to enable it/select it. If i meant stereo sound didn't work I would have said. I can go to volume settings and pan left to right - each speaker works as expected.
-
the SM Bus Controller can be installed with the South Bridge Drivers from AMD/ATI which can be found here: http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx?p=xp/integratedip-xp
keep in mind that realtek's website is sometimes slow. if it is, try windows update to get the drivers for it if you dont want to wait for it. -
I have done this succsssfully, but the same did not work for Win XP Pro 64 Bit!
After I have integrated the driver and booted frmo the CD, I got a message saying that this driver is not compaitlbe with this version of Windows
what shall I do? -
it's not very annoying but if someone focused he can tell
do u know if there's anything i should try to fix it ??? -
@dp64: thanks very much. I fixed the SM Bus Controller. Realtek'website is very slowly so I can not fix the remain.
When I install Windows XP, there's an icon look like a USB on My Computer screen (see image below). I think the reason is I have not install full driver yet.
And this the Device Manager Screen (after fix above prolem).
Please help me again ! Thanks very much !!! -
an alternate way is to run Windows Update and it should find the driver for it through there. its usually much faster than realtek's site. i dont think i have ever seen realtek's servers perform at least at a decent speed.
the removable device is probably the memory card reader. i am not sure which one you have but in mine its a Realtekp ) and had to get it through their site. alternativly, i believe it could be JMicro in which case i am not sure about where to obtain that one.
-
@dp64: I've downloaded and installed the Audio on High Definition Audio Bus successfully. Thank you very much.
About the Removable Device, I hope will fix it no longer -
@Wewe: I link to 2 audio drivers in post 1, have u tried both?
@krackJack: Is your screen resolution set to the native resolution of the LCD? If not, you will get fuzzy text. Right click on desktop -> Properties, Settings tabs, make sure the slider is all the way to the right.
If someone wants to compile a list of drivers and locations for the AMD machines that a different to the Intel ones, I will add it to post 1. -
seems like maybe i should start an AMD based DV5 thread. how about it?
-
@dp64: I like Intel, but I bought an AMD laptop. I'm a developer, but I bought an Entertaiment PC (dv5t). Maybe I bought a "wrong laptop"
-
@joshua - you were right. moving the volume sliders left and right does produce sounds from these speakers.but somehow the effect does not seem to be the same as was with Vista.I think the extreme left n right vertical column of speakers(I suspect that there are 2 left and right speakers) are not working giving the impression that sound is only coming from the center speaker..
Re: the image sharpness, I downloaded the correct infupdate utility (primarily for Intel 4,3,900 chipsets) from the intel website(per post 1). But device manager does not appear to confirm so. I am attaching the device manager pics. Is this 'infupdate' file also supposed to install the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator ?
@wewe - I do not see 'HP integrated bluetooth' in device manager at all. Am I missing something ? I had opted for 'Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth' while ordering the notebook but didn't really check or use it while I still had vista.Attached Files:
