Hey everyone.
I'm sort of at my wits end trying to figure this out. I have a nice stack of cds now that are basically frisbees.
I have the follow specs
HP Pavilion dv5-1124ca
AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Processor
PCs QL-60 (1.9GHz, 1MB L2 Cache)
15.4'' Diagonal WXGA High Def Bright View
250GB
3072MB DDR2 SDRAM
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics with shared graphics memory
What I've been trying to do is slipstream sata drivers onto an xp disc and I just can't get it to go. I get a blue screen every single time. I'm losing my mind.
Most of this thread is related to intel and I can't seem to find anything related to AMD. Anyone know how to approach this?
-
@krackjack - no, the inf update is the chipset driver, not the graphics driver. You need to install Intel Graphics Media Accelerator as you suggested. Then the screen will run in native resolution and text will be clear. You can see in your device manager that no drivers are installed for the video card.
Only install this driver if you have the Intel Graphics. If you have nVidia, use the nVidia driver. -
I have sucessfully installed the IDT sound driver, many thanks to all you guys.
Regarding the HDA Bus, since I dont keep the DVD contains this one, what is solution for me? -
@wm009: use nlite and slipstream both these drivers in order to install xp on a dv5-1124ca. I myself made many coasters until i found the right combination of drivers needed to install xp on my dv5-1124ca
You need both the AHCI drivers , and the SMBus drivers, included here:

when u download sata drivers u have to chose xp professional 64 bit .....
i assume u used the same disc for windows xp 64 bit too
it will not work
there's sata drivers for both 32 and 64 bit versions of xp , therefore u will have to make another copy of windows cd using nlite just for xp 64 bit -
it's the button on the extreme top right corner of your laptop ......
when u enable bluetooth then u will have a pop up window "found new hardware"
go to device manager and u will see this hp integrated module
to install its drivers u have to follow the method described before -
ok i am having anotehr audio problem
other than the center of the speakers sound
when the sound is loud (not on 100% , but much less) , especially while listening to music and the soiund is loud the speaker start to make some noise , i don't know how to describe it it's like someone making fissures in glasslol i am lebanese so excuse my english
anyone has a solution to this ??? -
Intel Graphics media Accelerator ->Installed- Screen ok now.
Bluetooth -> Installed
For some reason the drivers weren't installed from the Swsetup->Drivers->bluetooth location using 'update drivers' inside 'HP Integrated module', so I ran the Driver package installer from the 'BTOOTH\Win32\brcm' folder and the drivers got installed easily
thanks guys.. -
im sure alot of us are having audio issues with the IDT audio. I am waiting for the next version to be released. im sure it will include improved audio quality and atleast stable performance. i just hope they will release it soon. im tierd of waiting. -

Hey I can't get it to work.
I get an error "ahcix64.sys file is either corrupt or missing".
I tried all possible combinations. I slipstreamed both the x86 and 64x versions together, and also individually. I looked up the error and it says you have to select the version of the OS, which I did. Still get the error.
Edit: Scratch that. I was being an idiot. What I did was copy the xp cd onto my desktop. Went into nlite, put both x86 and 64x on there. When that didn't work, I went back to the same folder and slipstreamed just one of them, not realizing that the folder already had both on it.
I just recopied the disc contents again, patched it to match the 32bit version of windows and bam worked.
Thanks, I really appreciate the help! -
@wm009 : glad it worked!
-
@wewe this is probably just the speakers distorting because you are playing your music too loud. There is nothing you can do, except turn down the music. Laptop speakers are not very good speakers. If you want louder sound, use an external stereo or good headphones.

i followed the procedure mentioned above but after the window xp is installed and on the first welcome screen the system displays a blue screen for a second n then restarts. can any one suggest whats is the problem????also i only included iaAHCI drivers in the xp cd,could not find the installation location for other drivers thats y i didnot include those drivers.is it the reason???
-
Sorry for deviating from the topic 'windows xp on dv5t - all drivers installed'...lol -
but americans cant pronounce the "h" like we do -
anyways, my apologies for deviating a bit, anyone know if there is a newer IDT driver out yet? i just hope 5.10.6087.22 isnt the last one that will be released. im assuming the next version might help improve the sound quality on our dv5 XP systems.i remember noticing in Vista when i first got the system that the sound was clearer and sounded better so iv been assuming its the drivers all along. i dont see any other reason.
-
yeah i am not satisfied with the sound either
it's annoying but god knows i can accept anything over vista
so dp6 , your left and right speakers are working on xp ???or the sound just come from the middle like me? -
i am not sure. i never really checked. all i was focusing on was the sound quality. if i recall correctly, there are 3 speakers (left, right & center). i should play some music in windows and move the volume to only the left and right and see what happens. ill post back with what i find out.

Hi,
I've read this thread for a week then I tried to install XP on my DV5 with following spec,
- Intel T9400 (2.53 GHz 1066MHz 6M\L2)
- Intel PM45 (Cantiga PM)
- 320GB 5400 rpm western scorpio
- 4096MB DDR2 800MHz RAM
- Geforce 9600M GT with 512MB
- 802.11 AGN wireless+BT
- 15.4" WXGA display
- Hybrid TV tuner
first I'd tried to follow the step on 1st page, but not succeed. I got the blue screen. Then I followed the thread and found what I think it was missing on page 18
Could anyone help me how to solve this? I really hate to run Vista since I have some programs doesn't work well on Vista and I really need XP. -
most likely you are missing another driver that you have to slipstream in your XP cd in order to allow XP to boot properly. i am not quite sure what it may be since i dont have the intel chipset. see if there might be more drivers you can slipstream on the cd other than just the SATA drivers.
-
-
You only need the SATA driver. Slipstream XP SP3 into the install CD also, if it is not already.
If you get the BSOD again, disable the automatic reboot by pressing F8 at boot, and not what the BSOD says. Google for more info about possible causes. I've never had any BSOD's except when I tried to install the drive guard driver (know to cause issues, don't install it -
these are the exact steps on how to slipstream SATA into an xp installation using nlite
you are probably doing a mistake here , follow these exact steps
-
My sound is perfect (or at least good enough not to have any complains about it).
When I first installed XP, it was awful. I read somewhere, you have to install HDMI drivers (nVidia in my case) first and then IDT Audio drivers. I did that and since then no problems.
Not to mention, the Quickplay Buttons (mute and volume) work perfectly, finally.
In Vista they frustrated the hell out of me. And the system never ever remembered the mute was on during restart.
-
i too have read somewhere about installing HDMI first then the IDT which i have always done. yet still there seems to be some distortion in the audio.
-
Thanks Joshua Wood. I'll tried to find out what BSOD said.
-
if you followed the directions exactly and asuuming you dont have any hardware failure, i think you need another driver or so of some device to prevent your system from blue screening. i just dont know what though
-
If by installation you mean that you just see files loading when you boot windows xp cd, but you can't go any further, then the sata drivers are not correct.
How long lasted your installation? more or less then 30 minutes?
Was your vista crashing more then it should? Hardware failure is always possible, but unlikely. -
My audio seems fine, not really any issues. I think I installed HDMI first also, as it would have been installed with nVidia graphics drivers (XP is to painfully slow to use without installing these graphics drivers as one of the first installs
I'm using the dv6 drivers, rather than the modified ones. No mute reg hack needed for these drivers for me.
Any distortion heard may simply be the fact that laptop speakers are generally crap. I run my laptop thru my stereo mostly. I did hear a few "pops" and "cracks" when playing Mirror's Edge. But it's fine when playing say mp3 or video in windows. This might have been due to the fact that the IDT audio is not good at hardware acceleration (which I enabled) or something else. I remember reading a year ago that some laptop sound chips are not good at handling multiple sounds at once. This was in respect to Oblivion and the "horse feet" sounds - it would tend to chop and cut those sounds. Too many quick sounds to often. The bus couldn't handle it apparently. Hence the "quiet feet" mod. I haven't tried Oblivion on the dv5t. This issue I noticed on a Dell xps 1530 which I had at the time (and returned
I'm still keen to hear about this stereomix reg hack, and how to get it to work.
Also, my touch keys worked ok, then went crazy. I tried the "static dischage" thing of removing the power adaptor and battery, holding the power button for about 30 secs, and then plugging everything back in. Been fine since. But I also haven't played any games for extended periods since (and hence caused the laptop to extremely heat up, which could have been the cause).
@thanesvorn: In case you slipstreamed other drivers or software updates, trying a new cd with only XP SP3 and the SATA drivers. -
by installing HDMI firstt you mean installing nvidia drivers???
and by the way wich drivers are you using for this 9600m gt
the official 179.448????have you ever tried dox's drivers on xp ? -
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_hdmi_audio_winxp_10.3.0.23.html
The only problem i have now is the message of unknow device for "Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller - 2919". I have been updated the latest chipset utility but it still comes up whenever i restart the computer! Pls help! -
did u install intel matrix storage manager for example ???
it should have worked when u installed the intel chipset utility
by the way it's called "update" but u should run it as a normal installer
can u try this old driver and see if it works ??? -
As for GPU drivers I use 179.48 (for XP) downloaded from laptops2go, but without the modified ini file (it's not needed, because these drivers originally support GeForce 9600M GT). -
thank you , i have downloaded the HDMI thing ....
now back to the grafix , what about the performance ???
do u know how to get your fps in games ????
i am using 179.48 from nvidia.com
do u have any idea if these are the same drivers ???
because nvidia drivers are 113 mb while laptopvideo2go are 38 mb only
and my 179.48 is not whql certified while 179.48 from lv2go are whql certified
it's really confusing -
No idea about the drivers. I downloaded them because of the file size (I forgot about gpu drivers the first time I installed XP and had to download something quick).
Device manager shows driver version 6.14.11.7948. Certified.
The only game I have installed right now is Tomb Raider Underworld and it's running fine. I will install Fraps (?) and get back to you about frame rate. Or just run 3DMark, but that will take time (the file is almost 600MBs). -
just install rivatuner , it's userful for FPS and for overclocking (if u want to overclock your gpu in the future)
go here to see how to install rivatuner and show fps in games
as for tomb raider , yeah it will work great it's not requiring , if u ever install crysis , or call of duty 4 or 5 F.E.A.R 2 please tell me what fps are u getting
meanwhile i downloaded DOX's drivers 182.05 , if they are better than nvidia's 179.48 i will link you to download them , cz on lv2go website all users are praising DOX for this great release -
Do I look like a rabid game player?
The height of my future accomplishments will probably be Diablo3. ;] I would recommend investing in a good PC, rather then torment the poor dv5 with those games.
PS. Anyone managed to update BIOS in XP? I tried, but the installation froze. I couldn't even close it. Fortunately it seems to be doing nothing. -
many users reported this problem
so i didn't try to update my BIOS
BIOS should be independent from the windows version
but it seems like there's something wrong with xp compatibility or something -
I noticed that connecting my eSATA external drive disconnects the validity sensor (not every time). Windows stops seeing it, although device manager says it's ok. I have to either restart the system or disable/enable it in device manager. Anyone experiencing something similar?
-
My wireless is playing up when coming out of hibernate or sleep. Not always, but often it doesn't work. It thinks it's connected, and I can disconnect and reconnect ok to my network. But I can't even then ping the router. I need to restart to get functionality back. Latest 5100 intel drivers. I don't seem to remember having this issues a month or so back, so wondering what's up. Anyone else having issues?
-
Have you guys tried flashing with DOS? Ever since I had a bad flash using Windows Vista on my CQ45 I've always used the DOS flasher, probably have flashed 50 or more times now without a problem.
-
guys how can i know wich version of bios i am using ???
anyone tried to overclock his 9600m gt in xp ??? -
XP that I use for slipstream is SP3 original copy, combine with intel driver from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...&OSFullName=Windows* XP Professional&lang=eng.
Please kindly advise. -
hello sir, i read all the solution u give for this, my question is this
can i do same steps to mine HP pavilion dv7-1150ev laptop?
and for the windows cd, i have only oemwin xp with valid key from other pc i have?
i'm 3 days working on it................ my nervous goes to crack up!!! -
-
i have installed windows XP on my dv5, and it is working fine
but i still have a device without a driver after following the instructions in this thread, does anybody know how to install this?
i have attached an image of device manager
Also my brightness controls do not work, i tried to update my Bios through XP but it was a bad idea (it did not work and almost destroyed the Bios), so does anybody know another way to make brightness controls work under XP?Attached Files:
