hi Guys,
i have just freshly installed xp in my system and installed all drivers also.
can someone suggest me a software by which i can make a clone of my "C"
drive so that next time i can just load it from?Otherwise all the drivers have to be load next time in proper order as in case of HDMI which causes lots of problems.
i need a software which will make a clone so that next time i load that image i will get xp with all drivers pr-einstalled.
i have used Hirens Boot cd for my desktop few years ago to clone my "c" drive and it was really great but when i used it for my notebook it failed to initialize i think this is because of SATA problem.
i have tried norton ghost 14 it didn't help.
Anyone have any idea???
Thanks

there is an alternative application like ghost called TrueImage by Acronis. i have heard very good things about this app. another thing you can do is slipstream all of your drivers onto your XP CD. this can be done using nLite. all you need to do is have nLite copy your XP CD to a folder, you select the drivers and tell it to slipstream it into the XP folder it copied, customize any other setting you would like, and then make a bootable ISO image. there you go!

Hi there,
i still have not figured out how to install the bluetooth device on windows xp. in my device manager i have thre questionmarks with following entry:
PCI-Datensammlungs- und Signalverabeitungscontroller: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV....
Can please someone help me which driver to download for Windows XP???? Nevertheless great guide! -
dv4t - well, ir-remote is driving me nuts.
i got the ene cir 2.6.5.0 drivers from the hp softpack (& tried a few others as well). but when i try to install them, i get:
ENE (enecir) HIDClass (09/04/2008 2.6.0.0) install failed.
it's possible that the winXP IR-component has somehow gone south - event log has:
"The IR Enumerator Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. "
and if i try to start the irenum.dll service with winxp manager's service manager i get "service disabled"
what could give? -
Dear All,
It seems laptop doesn't wakeup from standby mode, does anyone facing this problem? I tried every other key with function key including display key but no luck, must do hard reboot. Anyone faced this issue? -
try changing your power management settings. sometimes that fixes standby issues.

Thanks to all the advice here I've successfully moved an XP installation off an old HP Athlon64 notebook and put it on a new (to me) DV5T-1015NR with a GF9200. Aside from the odd mute LED behavior, and unknown device on the Intel(R) ICH9M LPC Interface Controller, everything seems to be ok.
But one thing that isn't working is the notebook won't recognize an external display until Windows loads a display driver. Is that normal with this model? I've tried a couple of LCDs, both VGA and HDMI, and they all are recognized and work - but only in Windows. -
I think its normal.

Hi
I install Win XP 32Bit in My Laptop HP DV5 1235DX and I can not find drivers for modem, sound and another uKnoun divice pleas help me -
Abdullah1975, that unknown device might be the CIR Receiver, for your remote controller.
Try downloading this... ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41661.exe
Install it, but it probably won't install properly, so if it doesn't go away, "right-click" the unknown device and look for the folder in the SWsetup on the C: Drive after your first installation if its not successful the first time. Hope that's not confusing.
For your Modem and Sound, try looking around this thread itself. Someone found a sound driver that works super well and even fixes the mute problem. So when you mute it, it turns orange and when you unmute it goes back to white.
Note, after you install the modem and sound, there's also another unknown device, just right-click the unkown and look at the SWsetup folder again. -

Cn anyone tell us what we need to change to make it work on intel machine? -
-
Unfortunately i dont have time to make a new installation attempt right now. -

This thread was incredibly helpful. Thank you.
The only issue I am facing after my downgrade from Vista Home Premium to Windows XP Pro on a HP dv5t is that my wireless connection will not connect. It gets stuck at "acquiring network address". I have the Intel WiFi Link 5100. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device several times. I have tried messing with the node type. I have changed the SSID. I have reset the WINSOCK entries and the TCP/IP stack. Nothing works.
I am using WPA Personal on a Linksys WRT54GL. If I disable all security, the computer will connect, but the connection status shows it is not connected. My wired connection works.
It seems it's a driver issue, but I'm not sure. Has anyone else run into this?
Thanks. -
BTW, I am on SP2 of XP.
-
For the record, it appears that the Intel Wifi device does not work with WPA when running on XP. I have been using WPA encryption for my wireless network. If I change it to WEP, the laptop will connect via wireless.
-
I'm connected to a WPA2 wireless router quite ok. Make sure you have the latest 5100 drivers. I haven't changed any settings, except possibly disabled the option to allow windows to standby the device to save power.
-
Thanks for the verification that the driver does work with WPA.
I've triple-checked and triple-installed the driver. It's definitely the most current driver for XP Pro. I tried again tonight and it will not work with WPA or WPA2. Oh well. I've read where other people who had XP experienced the same issues seemingly out of the blue. Something must be "off" with this install. I'll see if SP3 fixes it. If not, I can live with WEP. I don't want to go through the install again.
Mostly, I just want this record on this thread in case anyone else experiences the same issue while downgrading. -
i have just installed xp on my dv7-1175nr.but i have a few problems the start up is a bit slow and the audio driver does not work i have tried the vista audio driver but it says that no compatible hardware is found.i have also installed microsoft uaa bus driver but no use could some body tell me where to get the drivers.i have installed xp sp3.
-
@gladiator_milian: There were issues with audio on the dv7 last time I read the dv7 xp thread (probably towards the end of last year). Not sure if they were resolved, I suggest you read that thread.
@jgladiator_milian: I installed sp3 off the bat via a slipstreamed install, so can't comment on sp2. I would suggest you try sp3. WEP is apparently very easy wireless security to hack these days....so I suggest you upgrade to WEP/2 asap if you have concerns about that. -
I guess you already installed XP but having driver problems
i have a faster way on how to make audio, bluetooth and other driver problem...
work
Try: Uniblue-DriverScanner
it worked like a charm, now i'm so happy using my HP dv5 with XP. -
download and install Uniblue:driverscanner and update all outdated driver.
Hope this work for you as well, post if it works for you. -
I have a question for anyone who knows. In Vista, when I plugged in an hdmi cable to my TV, the audio automatically switched over to the HDMI device. Anyone know how to make the same thing happen in XP? Right now, I have to go to the audio settings and switch devices.
Thanks. -
Quite possibly that's the only way jonagard

hi friends
on my touchpad there is a line on right corner of it from which when i had vista i was able to move page up and down by moving my finger on that line but in xp this feature is not working can i enable it on my xp.
Thanks -
Yes you should be able to enable it. Go into control panel, and open the "Mouse" program and you should be able to change the setting in th e "Device Settings" tab
-
UNKNOWN DEVICE
In the device manager, select any unkown device, and double click it.
This will open the properties window, which will have a "property" bar and a "value" bar/window.
Select "hardware ids" from the property bar.
The Value window should show several values representing the hardware, it will look like this example.
Now the "VID or VEN underscore XXXX" refers to the vendor that makes the device.
The "PID or DEV underscore XXXX" refers to a particular device made by that vendor.
And then the "REV or SUBSYS underscore XXXX" refers to a more particular variety of that device, made by that vendor.
The best way to use this information is to highlight the line in the value window that has just the "VEN and DEV" or "VID and PID" information. (control + C to copy the highlighted value and then control + V to paste into GOOGLE) then take any other particulars out. (using the above example - you would be searching "VID_03F0&PID_171D" )
Searching that in google should always be able to tell you what the "unknown device is" -
The registry tweak also works for dv4's running vista ho prem sp1.
Curiously the OEM system originally had listed in BelArc's Advisor (in the multimedia section) as having installed...
Bluetooth Hands-free Audio
Bluetooth Stereo Audio
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC
NVIDIA HDMI Audio
..but oddly now, only the last two are listed in the multimedia section as installed.
And the installed software section now lists (for audio and bluetooth products)...
Broadcom Corporation. - Bluetooth Software Version 6.0.1.6202
IDT PC Audio Version 1.0.6017.13
..despite add-remove progs list only...
HP Integrated Module w/Bluetooth wireless tech 6.0.1.6202
IDT Audio
One hand doesn't seem to know what the other's doing. As they claim to test products, there ought to be an enforced law, forcing them to. -

Hi All,
First, I Would like to thank joshua wood & lich for their posts. Both are attached to this post for a long time now. These posts successfully helped me to downgrade my HP Pavilion DV4-1241 TX from Vista to XP 32bit.
dannyres also wrote a very good post in Jan'09 but most of the driver details are favouring Vista.
But apart all this, still there are some Drivers for which I am trying for the last 24Hours but not succeeding. I dont think, technology for DV4 Vs DV5 has much differences.
> I have downloaded several Audio IDT/Conexant Drivers for my HP laptop but none of them is working, saying hardware is not supported. How to know which driver my laptop posses?
> I installed one Touchpad driver but the scroller in the right of this pad is not working. I installed Synaptics but the MOUSE details in control panel is showing me simple mouse, not the touch pad details.
> I am not able to find any Digital Persona Finger print reader driver this my Finger print reader is not working.
> I tried installing ENE CIR (Infrared) as well but dont know it is working or not as the installation screen disappears in between installation? From where to check this?
These are the problem which I could lookout right now. Please help whoever can. -
hi friends
i have Downloaded and install the "modified" package listed in thread 387 by Roamin and using it from quite a bit of time. But it doesn't have any UI inertface to choose mixing options did anybody have any success with the complete IDT xp driver with all the options available. -
Hi friends
i have sucessfully downgraded my vista notebookto Dv 5 1102tu to XP Sp2 .I want to make a ghost dvd of the drive in which xp is present so that next time one doesn't have to install all drivers again . I came to know a tool called "Macrium Disc Cloning tool". I also want to try it out but i have one query that is when i will make a clone of my C: drive and burn it on a dvd then will it be able to recognize my SATA ich9 enable HDD cause i splitstreamed my SATA ich9 drivers in my xp cd in order to recognise my HDD so that i can successfully load back my C: drive???
I have installed all drivers and doesn't want to reinstall them again so please if anyone have used this tool or knows another method or confirm that it will successfully install back again my pc to the original state.
Thanks -
I've never used or heard about that particular software, but i have used similar software in the past, and yes , if you make a image of your drive, you will have everything installed, including your SATA ich9. There are many ways that such tools work, some will show you a quick prompt before the OS loads, where you can press a F# key, and launch their software to recover your system. Others can create a boot dvd of your machine, and just boot with this disc , and recover your system. Another way is to create a new partition, or a protected hard disk zone where the image is stored, and loaded when you need to re-install your system. Most laptops nowadays work like this, where it is shipped without a OS disk, and you must create a disc yourself. Our DV5 came like this, in vista, and i'm assuming you burned that disc before downgrading, this way , in case you break your system real bad, and just want to start fresh. Note that this disc, for me in vista actually recreated the partition with the image, along with recovering my system to the language selection, before vista finishes up to install.
Keep very well in mind that all these tools will recreate the complete partition that you imaged, so everything on that drive will be erased, and only what was in that image will appear afterwards. It would be a good idea to have multiple partitions, and image just the partition with the OS, this way you can keep all your data when you "refresh" your system.
There might be tools that will recover the OS portion only of the drive, but i'm not aware of any, and that wouldn't really make any sense but its not impossible.
You mentionned the drivers not having a control panel applet, well, you can try running the .cpl found inside the driver package, but it gives very limited controls over your sound card. I have yet to find a decent .cpl for these drivers. -
They completely wiped out all my partitions(4 partitions) and restored my Notebook to the first day state with two partitions one for vista and another for recovery. Now when i boot from the same cd of xp the option "press any key to boot from cd" comes now i am very much confused what happened then???? i lost all my data and xp drivers which i collected to install xp.
But thanks to this forum i recovered nearly all my drivers back without much effort but in future i am planning to dual boot xp with Windows 7 . So i am planning to make a clone of my xp drive so that i would be able to restore only that partition if something goes wrong without worrying to loose my other partitions which contains data. There are many software's in the net to make bootable images but will they be able to recognize my SATA HDD if something goes wrong and i try to recover my xp??
If u know any software which support latest RAID drivers plz let me know.
Thanks -
